10: I SO could have written this secret D: I have been a Yuki/Tohru shipper since day one, love Kyo/Kagura (though I like him with Uotani too, hawt OT3 smex y/n?), and. Sjkhsjld. Ilu. ♥

Okay, redoing this.

2) Oh please, liking different ships is a stupid thing to burn bridges over. Some of my friends like ships I dislike but you know what? The world still turns for another day.

17) Hah, you think that's bad? I stand infront of a shelf of CDs with one titled 'It Is Written' and I'm sorely tempted to stick a post-it note on it that says 'Only Link Can Defeat Ganon'.

... I'm pathetic.

20) While I do agree that people SHOULD play the game before getting involved in fandom, now that I think of it, this was way too harsh.

23) I never watched SPD, but I thought Bridge was super cute in 'Once A Ranger'.

28) WHO THE HELL IS THIS PERSON AND WHY ARE TH... oh wait.

30) Hah, I was like that with an ex-friend of mine.

I FORGOT, CRAP

[identity profile] metaraymek.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
29) Comment on my stuff, please. I'll love you forever to Heaven and back... in a platonic way. >=

[identity profile] terrie.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
1. A vast majority of my 'ships are friendships. :3 There are only like two or three romantic squishy blabla aww cuddletime 'ships that I like; the rest of the time I am all about friendships. SO YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

OP

[identity profile] metaraymek.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. =]

I mean, in general I enjoy friendships, no matter what the series is. So it's always heartening to see people who do enjoy them.

21. I KNOW WHO YOU ARE and I think I agree. I never got into that fandom. Read the manga, never got into the fandom. (Yes, I'm cosplaying L for Youmacon but I'm still not in fandom.) The idea scares me.

1. Not that one, specifically but friend*ships are awesome. Seriously, I get way too involved with that stuff - especially for crossovers.

4. Wow... Um. I'm probably guilty of similar things, so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

5. Pyramid Head makes me want to injure myself. /random.

7. Don't know the series, but- the fucked up characters are love. End of story.

9. not the same game.... but I completely understand that, too.

12. See my answer to 9.

13. ...... You're me, aren't you? I love Cold. It's sort of... pathetic how much.

15. That's a lot of spite in one secret, yes.

16. I can sort of ... understand and relate to that. Probably why I stay away from the fandomds of most everything I'm into.

17. I even laughed looking for this picture on Google made me crack up... For some reason.

19. You can assume whatever you want, it doesn't make you right. Is anyone that likes any Disney movie automatically a kid, to you? If so, I might stay young forever.

20. I'm guessing... and now I want to know if- you're the poster of the original secret? Or just someone severely aggravated by that one. I know it drives me up a wall, which is why I never commented that secret to begin with. Argh.
If you're going to ship characters, at least get to know them.

22. Vic Mignogna used to watch the series before he dubbed them. There was a whole discussion about it for FMA when the movie came out.... A lot of people are coming to that 'Why did I ever like Vic Mignogna?' realization but I don't think it's fair to hate all dubbers because of one actor, and one show.

23. Dear God, that show still runs?

24. .... I don't think it'll be as bad as you're worried it will. Sure, new people are often confused and can be made fun of- but once you get the hang of things it can be cool. Juggling fandom friends and old friends might be a problem, though. Some people do lose contact because their interests aren't the same anymore - but others don't.
It's really up to you, in the long run.

25. I'm usually pretty good at it, but she looks rather masculine to me, too.

26. So do it? I know, it's never nearly as simple as that but still. You could give it a shot.

29. Different people write and speak in their own ways. Maybe you come off as a snob to some people that don't know you, but you shouldn't have to apologize for the way you are.
And some artists like comments on those things.

30. Inspiration is inspiration <3 and I can sort of relate to that, in a way.

32. I've seen that attitude with a lot of people, actually and I'm sure that a lot of people have at least one pairing they feel that way about. Even if they don't admit to it.
OTP sort of has a 'by interpretation' definition... For some people it means that the pairing in question is the only one they read/write/draw/support. Other times it just means that it's the most common or favorite. I learned that late, too.

34. Different people express their obsessions in different ways. You're using it as a way to educate yourself, and I think that's really constructive.

I fully admit that it's probably immature of me.

But hey, if they're going to be prima donnas about it, I'm just going to get my fix elsewhere, since I clearly missed the bulletin that the first group to scan a series apparently owns it.

I know it's horrible to judge people like that, but I'm the same way. (And Zac Efron WAS better in 'Hairspray'. But yeah, Elijah Kelly totally made that movie.)

[identity profile] elystia.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
22. Vic =/= an accurate representation of American dubbers as a whole. Please don't let him cloud your judgment on that, because yes, he's a HUGE douchebag. But there are some pretty damn awesome ones, too.

3. *Googles the messgae board*

6. LMAO it does. XD

21. Looks more like invisible grave rape or invisible jealousy ;P to me.

22. Most dubbers do watch the series they're doing the voices in. Well, at least the ones in the panels at the anime cons I've attended, including the one with Johnny Yong Bosch. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Yong_Bosch#Anime)

24. I'll be your friend. :3

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
20 Uh... I don't agree with your wording, but I'll give you a definite word.

If it were a few people in the FFVII fandom who hadn't played the game, I'd brush it off, but since AC, it's become almost the majority on some communities and sites.

This is a 50 hour game or so. Wikipedia does NOT have all the information on the characters or the events. If I had a dollar for all the fanfics or fans who think events in the game happened in the wrong order or don't even know they happened (you find President ShinRa dead right before you leave Midgar, is this too hard of a concept, seriously?)... I might be able to afford the price people are now charging for the game.

But you know, emulation is free for those people who don't have PS1s or even the Greatest Hits copy.

Writing original game fic based on Advent Children or the rest of the Complication is a bad idea. No matter what, you can't pick up the characterisations or the plot of a game that convoluted, that bizarre, and that long from it's sequels or from walkthroughs. You can't. Many fans weren't even sure what characters were telling the true versions of many events until they played the game the second time!

[personal profile] xenoglossy 2007-09-08 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
22. Yeah, yeah, dubs are evil incarnate. We know. Get something new to whine about. I don't even like dubs, I just wish people would shut the fuck up about them. If you don't like them, don't watch them! I know I never do. After all, it's not as though that's the only format in which anime is available in the US anymore.

25. For what it's worth, I thought Marluxia was a girl, at first, until someone referred to him as "he".

2. I am not going to even touch the stupidity of the you hate HikaruxHaruhi ships, because really, that doesn't deserve a response, can I just ask how that is related to the first part of the secret. I mean um, I don't get it. Unless there is something that I am missing.

16.Um wow. I can understand not wanting a fandom to become too big or whatnot, but sheez, you hate anyone who enteres the fandom. Dare I say you don't want to because you want to hang your head over other fans by claiming you like some OMGOBSCURE series, and that you can't do that if more people enter the fandom? I am not in the series, (I don't even know what it is), but now I want to get into it in order to spite you.

22. So one douchey actor and dub means they all suck and don't care about their work? Cry me a river, and how is this a secret? I mean isn't hating on dubs a time honored tradition of anime fandom?

32. What sort of crack ships do you do for FY? (I have a sort of love/hate relationship with FY in general, but I am interested in the sort of cracky dealings it has in the ship departments.) Nakago and Soi is sort of awesome though, I mean I can't mess with it on the sheer principle that he seemed to lug her corpse around with him everywhere.

32 op

(Anonymous) 2007-09-08 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sort of all over the place on that once since FY was my introduction to yaoi and therefore every character besides Nakago and Soi suddenly had the potential to be gay in my mind.

Tasuki/Nuriko was the other major ship I loved that was crackish. Then there were the more common Tasuki/Kouji and Tasuki/Chichiri pairings that I read alot but never tried to write. I loved the idea of Hotohori and Tomo being trapped in awkward blanket scenarios too just for the drama queen factor that could occur.

Suboshi/Yui was an otp-ish pairing that I loved ALOT and rarely messed with, but the idea of Suboshi/Miaka was intriguing as well just because I wondered how he would react to her instead of Yui.

Oh and Chichiri/Mistukake. I don't know, it just worked.

...

This fandom is probably glad that I've fallen out of it.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-08 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, the 4th series sucked so bad without Jeff, not even Patrick/Sally could make up for it, except for Steve's last line about his son, the series was honestly a complete waste.

Without knowing your character - I think it's great that you're taking this approach. Obsessed or no (some people make it sound like that's a bad thing), what's wrong with enjoying learning? Who knows, the knowledge might even come in handy someday.

Also... it's sad there aren't too many people putting that kind of care into their character development. I'm predominantly playing characters from a people who are natural artists (and trying to get the facts straight), and getting sick and tired of the superficial "ZOMG, paint on a canvas, look, I made the Mona Lisa!" attitude that's happened in some places (if the players ever honored canon enough to actually make those people the way they are meant to be, that is), so it's refreshing to see your secret. Thank you. :)

FIVE AND THIRTY FIVE

5) I have never been much of a horror fan in general, I tend to watch scary movies only when I have nothing else to rent, but when I started watching the Saw movies I was ... strangely hooked.
When I first really met him as a character in Saw 2 I found him oddly attractive. I think his morals are fucked and he's scary as hell, but he has that oddly comforting, sweet, smooth-talking older gentleman demeanor as well and I find him totally hot for it.
Helps that I love the actor that plays him too. >_>

35) My GOD! My younger sister LOVES that guy! She thinks he really DOES do real magic. >_< I tried to tell her that it was special effects and stunt work and she was like 'NOOOO! HE'S A FUCKING MINDFREAK! REALLY! YOU JUST DON'T BELIEVE YOU HORRIBLE NON-BELIEVER YOU!'
........ She's nineteen years old and seriously thinks he has magical spiritual powers. In light of that, I'd like to thank you for being sane, even if you do like to pretend. Props to you for knowing how to enjoy something without being batshit about it. <3

She's ninteen!? Oh your poor sister XD, it's all special effects honey. You can pretend (like me) but no...not

Thank you for telling me I'm sane and not batshit though! :D That made me feel better.

21: Ghost!L invisible!fucking Raito in front of L's grave. HOT. I'd make that into a fanfic.

#27: I used to feel like that too, but you shouldn't feel pressured. I once tried to write fanfic just because I felt pressured as a fan to do it, but it ended badly. Don't feel bad- I'm a loyalist too.

21.

If you did, I would squee, fangasm, squee again, then comment about the previous endeavors.

4. Crazy fucks are the best.

14 & 17: The juxtaposition makes me happy inside.

20. Every time someone thinks about FF7 characters without ever having played the game, Tetsuya Nomura gives someone another unnecessary belt.

Really, I don't understand how people can do things the wrong way around. Isn't the whole point of a fandom that it's something you're involved in because you love a game/show/book etc? Not having played/watched/read it in the first place seems to be missing a pretty important step.

24. Fandom's a place to go LOL INVISIBLE BUTTSEX with people in. It's not that scary. (Well, the Death Note fandom might be. I don't know.)

25. I had a very hard time figuring out Integra's gender, too. I love her a little more because of it.

26. Whoever they are, tell them! It's not creepy to like someone's work. If you like it from the bushes outside their window, then it's creepy.

30. Aww, that's sweet. Besides, the world always needs more slash.

Babies, please?

The best part is how he's added belts to the original FFVII designs. Nothing is sacred! Nothing is safe from his tyranny of belts that are holding nothing up!
