Thank you!

I love their interactions and their friendship and I love when they're on screen together helping each other out because they do come from similar backgrounds, but I don't want them dating. Frankly I like Norman's interpretation of Daryl being a 20-something odd virgin with no idea of how to interact with women-- let's face it, until now he's been living the "little brother" role all his life. He's only now really becoming an "adult." I don't think he's ready for a relationship until he gets himself squared away.

Oh, I see. A song wherein someone is depressed, blows their head off with a shotgun, and then their whole family dies is funny now.

I'll remember that next time someone jokes about suicide and someone says "dude, not funny."

I think Andrea's original death had her being bitten by Milton on-screen and then spending her last moments with Tyrese who finds her. Months later they went back and refilmed it so her death was more ambiguous and so she could die with her friends instead.

Abuse victims are at their most vulnerable when they leave the abuser. She and Sophia could very well have been killed by that asshole Ed.

Personally I like Carol because she's a strong character without being physically strong. Badass characters are fine and all, but it takes all kinds to make up a group-- Carol adds a vital element to the group the same way Hershel does and Dale did. She's strong but she doesn't have to become a cookie-cutter gun-blazing definition of what we might think of as 'strong' in the zombie apocalypse, she defines her own strength. And it's very gratifying to see someone come into her own identity after years of being held under an abusive thumb.

You won my heart over with this comment <3

This information makes Sumia about a thousand times more tolerable.

What? Why? As a devoted vegetarian I find this disturbing.

Re: Fainting

I only fainted once, when I was around 11 or 12. We were at the dinner table and I guess I must have swallowed something too hot? IDK, but one moment I was fine, the next thing I remember is my mum trying to pull me away from the table.

It was the weirdest thing.

I literally just saw someone write "BAD PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO MAKE GOOD THINGS!!!!" and I kind of want my head to explode a little bit. Because the person saying it works for a library, apparently is responsible for getting books, and if she had slightly less scruples, would not allow the library to provide Ender's Game, because Orson Scott Card is a dickwad.

And I get that OSC is a dickwad, and I get the idea of not wanting to support people you find to hold abhorrent views (even while you're praising this thing that they did) but choosing not to buy something for your personal collection is different than not buying something the public is asking for in their public library because you don't like the author, and I'm just all kinds of UGH over this, for some reason.

Plus, even ignoring the grossness of the phrase "bad people" -- "bad people *shouldn't be allowed* to make good things" is a dumbass thing to say.

I don't suppose you have any recs for human x mermaid that isn't just The Little Mermaid, by any chance?

Also white fans telling black people off for being upset at the racism on the game. Can we not.

I'm not going to decide not to engage with a person's publicly shared opinions based on their background.

The first scene of blatant racism in the game is jarring and upsetting and ought to be as that is the point. Racism is gross and wrong and upsetting and people shouldn't be so terribly upset when it is presented as gross and wrong and this has an upsetting effect.

Would it be better to have yet another trashy steampunk setting where we just kind of ignore racism? "Yes, the past was awesome! Corsets and mustaches!"

Re: Farting cats

(Anonymous) 2013-04-05 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I had a cat who had a reaction to some antibiotics that made him fart. The funny thing was that it scared him and every time he farted, he would run.

The very best one was when he was licking himself and he farted in his own face.

Poor cat. I still miss him. :(

Some people just turn on the tv to whatever's on and munch angrily on popcorn or ice cream to calm down. You do so with an awesome show. :)

They might not have the time or desire to get over the learning curve required to enjoy a game that their husband can just pick up and play. Furthermore, spectating can be a casual background endeavor. They might be doing something else (hobbies, schoolwork, housework, etc.) in the same room or just dropping in for the more entertaining parts. They aren't necessarily glued to the TV for the full duration to the exclusion of all other activities.

I usually like Moffat and his writing, despite the problems (I'm also one of three people on the planet who really loved the Ponds), and I still felt lukewarm about the new episode. Still, I look forward to see what he has planned and just hope for the best.
