This probably doesn't count, though, OP?

Snape is an asshole, but he's somewhat interesting.
Dumbledore is something of an asshole too, but I find him to be a really interesting character.
My unpopular Harry Potter opinion is that I REALLY don't like Sirius Black and I didn't care when he died.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-14 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)I am rarely interested in HP anymore, but I think morally grey or tragically flawed interpretations of Dumbledore, that explore the creepy parts of the wizarding world, are really compelling.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-14 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)I liked Snape, but really burned out on the fandom craze over him.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-14 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)Hagrid and Dobby...I was sad when Dobby died, I still get teary but it didn't trouble me too much. If Hagrid died, I wouldn't have been too broken up, either.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-14 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)Never met anyone who hated all four, though. Especially Snape has such a huge fan following, I found it impossible to find someone who really hated him.

But then, I was never really immersed in HP fandom, haven't read a lot of meta, etc. I've basically just read the books, seen the movies, and read the occasional bad!fic.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)Snape was an obsessive man. His idea of love was more of...well, creepiness. I didn't find it to be a tragic love as in he lost the love of his life, but he only fell in love with her and never loved anyone else. His life was a tragedy, but when fans are all "oooh" over the "Always" line, I just feel weird. I had a guy who was obsessively interested in me and I was never so relieved than when he moved away and couldn't obsess over me.
As for Dumbledore - he clearly had racist/classist (what's the term for prejudice against Muggles? Are wizards a race?) ideas what with what he wanted to do with the Deathly Hallows. And then he fell in love with Grindelwald, the Wizard Hitler and yeah, Grindelwald might have been a manipulative sociopath, but Dumbledore was a smart guy who must have formed his own opinions as well. Then Dumbledore has Harry stay with the Dursleys for the blood protection, rather than casting a spell and being the Secret Keeper of Harry's location or something, so every year until he was eleven and then every summer, Harry had an abusive home. Then Dumbledore allows all this crazy stuff to happen at Hogwarts where kids nearly get killed every year and yet he rarely acts concerned. The students had to fight his battles. I mean, yeah, the more I think about Dumbledore, the more I don't like him.
No, none of the characters were perfect, but when you look at some of the stuff Dumbledore did, he wasn't the saint everyone seemed to think he was.
But I like Hagrid and love Dobby.

I hate all of them. I think Snape and Dumbledore are assholes (and not in an entertaining way) and Hagrid and Dobby are two-dimensional, annoying and unfunny.
Secret because: Fandom darlings, never heard of anyone who didn't love at least one of them.
no subject
I never liked Dobby but I was sad when he died, which surprised me.
I find Dumbledore and Snape very interesting but I wouldn't say they were my favourite characters or anything.
