4 - Agreed. D: That's the exact same way I feel about people when they talk about Master Van from Tales of the Abyss. Yeah, I know I shouldn't call him that, but it stuck! They might have the qualifications to convince the fans, but that doesn't mean they are! ;__;

11 - Ahahahaaaa, would you believe that I read the book because of the anime? Truthfully, they're both so different and bizarre in their own respective ways, I can't help but love both Gankutsuou and The Count of Monte Cristo. The only reason I haven't watched Romeo x Juliet is because I don't like mechas, which I've heard do exist in the anime. D:

DO I KNOW YOU?

19. *A*d (I am so freaking gay for the police in that game.)
I wonder if your dilemma is why there's not many fics of them? :| Sigh~ I always wish I could draw more fanart of them, but I just draw a blank when it comes to them.
fuyu: (curable disease)

If it's a common affliction, that would be so sad. ;_; I think I could write them in the background, but they're just not talking to me for longer fic. ;_;

also I doubt I could top

YOU YOSHINARI FTW

AND WHO ARE YOU CAN YOU BE MY FRIEND PLZ LOLKTHX

Seriously not enough people appreciate or even know wtf "animation" means in anime - I mean fuck, a bunch of really prettily drawn bishies with just their mouth opening and closing is NOT pretty animation, goddamnit. Animation is more about the movement!

13. Kiss my lesbian and NOT vanilla sex-ing ass. You're far more misogynistic than you think, and what's disappointing is you don't recognize it.

14. c&p'd from my other comment-- There are fundamental differences in your fandom and mine, though. In SW fandom, it's not like 75% of the fans watched only the prequels and then based their entire characterizations of the original trilogy cast on what they saw in the prequels and what they read on Wikipedia. Beyond that, the prequels were just that -- prequels. Any character assassination or inconsistency can be explained by the generation gap in the two movies. In FFVII fandom? Two years pass, and everything gets fuck all retarded.

So while I would like to agree that why don't we all just get along, it's rather hard when by far the vast majority of the creative output of the fandom is based either solely or at least partially on Comp. interpretation.

The end.

[identity profile] ironjill.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
14. Agreed there! I'll admit that I'm very into the EU (and have been since I was 8) but I'm the same way about the Prequels. I almost entirely ignore that they exist, and the DVDs are pretty much shelf-space. They make me want to hurt things so bad sometimes, but the fans are just the fans, right? :)

14 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-10-10 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I mean, heck, if they're enjoying it... let them enjoy it. In the meantime, if they haven't seen the original trilogy, I can try to show it to them. :) I do own the prequels and they are occasionally pulled out for Star Wars marathons, but I try to get around seeing Phantom Menace whenever I can.

But I have a friend who's a die-hard OT fan and she likes the new prequels, too. I'm sad that all the fic on the internet now is all about Anakin and Obi-Wan and not Luke, Leia and Han, but she likes the new fic and reads it a lot. The fact that she likes it isn't hurting me, why would it? And we still yammer on about Star Wars together like a bunch of nerdy old ladies.

I tried to get into EU once, but it just seemed like too much! I didn't really like what I did read, so it wasn't that encouraging to read more. My fried recced some books to me, but I guess I'm just so set on the OT being "the story" that any more canon just seems kind of strange.

15. I'm always scared of entering names into that thing, because I have this paranoid idea that the GLOBAL POLICE are on the other side, and if you try to send someone to hell, they'll trace you with your IP address and monitor you forever more to make sure you aren't a psycho.

...That's weird, isn't it?

OMFG THANK YOU. Seriously. That shit is why I left the X fandom almost before I was even involved.

For those who will wish to form a lynch mob, yes. I'm a Subaru/Kamui girl. I'm just not militant about it.

Re: 38

(Anonymous) 2007-10-11 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
You're a smart one!

And even though I don't like X, I must admit to liking Subaru/Kamui. Just a little.

6 - My best friend is one of those people to whom the animation is reeeeeally important. She has a hard time even watching an anime if the animation sucks.

11. I haven't seen Gankutsuou, but I've been a Dumas fan since forever... and I love all the adaptations of his books, too. Even the really bad Musketeer movies. XD I don't know if this is helpful, but there's something about his books that makes me love them and their adaptations, no matter how different they are (and I'm usually a book purist). So why don't you give it a try? Maybe you can enjoy both in different ways.

... and whenever an adaptation screws up the book, just remember, Dumas did that to history. XD He can't complain.

14. You wonderful sane person ♥

13. There are very few good yuri pairings in fandom...and that makes me a very sad panda D: But Franziska and Adrian is love. Lana/Mia sounds like it would be pretty cool as well, but Iunno.
19. YAY. :D

[identity profile] retsuko.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I never, ever thought of it like that, but it makes total sense.

I would love to read this. But where to find it?
I would love (to try) to write this. But where to share it?

In any case, you have excellent taste. And a new convert. ;-D

Re: 16

(Anonymous) 2007-10-13 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking of attempting at writing too but once again the 'where to share' question comes up before completion.

New converts are always good. ^^

[identity profile] smilingbomb.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
11. I tried /so/ hard to read the book before watching the anime. And, basically, it just goes on FOREVER. I can't do it. Good luck with trying to read it. It's basically a whole bunch of revenge-driven ranting and manipulation.

-.-;;

[identity profile] georg-vanlunden.livejournal.com 2007-10-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with this comment.

Well. In my case it's usually fantasies of him rescuing me from a dull, bland existance, whisking me away with his brilliant smile and letting me in on a life of high times and adventures... but still, that's pretty much reaching levels of gay wavering between guy-love and absolute mancrush, and so I can safely say that I DO sympathize with your desire to bed the good captain. God I love One Piece.

(Anonymous) 2007-10-10 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Luffy so much. ♥

32. While reading Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke, I imagined the whole story looking like it was in Paper Mario world. XD

6. I'm sorry, I'll try my best to do that ;__;

20. From an audience point of view, it doesn't matter who submits what. They're friggin' hilarious.

25. Can't say I know how it feels, but I'm willing to try new series if you'd ever like to share them. And I'm open to making new friends even if we don't share the same interests. There's a somebody for everyone~ *hugs*

31. .....I hope no one will ever make a secret like that with me in mind. |D;;
