When someone's collar is twisted, or their hem is turned up, or their pant-leg is caught on their shoe and they're just walking around like that. I have this horrible need to *fix it*, though i don't on strangers. (Fair game if i know you.)

Smudged lenses on glasses. Clean them! I can't stand to look at people through big, smeary spots on their glasses.

People leaping in to say 'bless you' before you're even done sneezing. Don't do that. Just - stoppit. I never say it, nobody blesses you when you cough, just - keep it to yourself.

It is probably your cat. Mine prefers napping in the linen cabinets (clean sheets and towels, just right for cat hair!), but has been known to open any old cabinet- under sinks, ones with pots and pans, occasionally the drawer of a bed-frame-organizer...

if you actually look up that story, you'll see that it was never proven she said that--the whole story was according to some "source" on set.

just saying.

Re: Spelling "women" as "womxn."

(Anonymous) 2014-03-05 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I remember seeing "woman" in at least a couple different items from a college publication a decade ago as "womb-moon".

I kinda wished they didn't hyphenate it. A "womb moon" could probably be written into some subset of (Gothic?) horror story, and a "wombmoon" is distantly related to the digeridoo.

I don't read much genderswap fic but if I do I generally prefer both characters to be switched. The only exception is Thorin/fem!Bilbo which gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies(I ship regular Thorin/Bilbo too so it's not as if I prefer that over the slash version, I like both equally tbh).

I prefer both members of the couple to be genderswapped for various reasons (I love playing around with gender dynamics)
It weirds me out when they only gender swap one person

I think it's particularly odd when people only swap one member of a same-gender couple
I don't think it makes someone homophobic or anything, but when they create a bunch of fan content and most of it includes a lot of pairings having the guy-guy couple become a guy-girl couple, I can't help but wonder if they have problems with it or something...

That's why everyone agrees you give the artis1 $10, maybe $20 to cover the materials for a full-body color picture, right?

I make awesome things that people like looking at, and I enjoy making them.

I had a thought:

[personal profile] making_excuses 2014-03-05 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
As a post somehow ended up here without me meaning to I guess this is a good as time as any to ask about a thing

Is anyone interested in threads about how stuff is different in other countries, and/or ask questions? We used to have a similar thing before I think?

Example: Did you guys know that in general Norwegians people don't go on dates if they aren't already a couple?

I've heard both nitch and neesh. I say nitch, I've always felt like neesh sounds pretentious.

when people say "o'clock" after what time it is. idk why but I just think it sounds so stupid that when people say it I get really annoyed.

I also hate it in class when, if you have been called on and are giving an answer, people turn around to gape at you while you respond. if someone sitting next to me or behind me does I don't care, but it just irritates me so much when people just have to turn around in their seat...ugh!

Thank you! :O

To the people defending Jennifer Lawrence

(Anonymous) 2014-03-05 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
This is faily unimportant compared to some of the other bullshit she's pulled, including using homophobic language, making biphobic and transphobic remarks, desecrating religious symbols (I wish I was fucking kidding). Full story:
http://yourfaveisproblematic.tumblr.com/post/45661326649/jennifer-lawrence

And yeah, celebrities do indeed say problematic shit all the time. The problem is that the press has been trying to sell us this image of her as this flawless person who is all pro-acceptance and pro-body positivity, only for her to do this bullshit afterward. Either own up to being an asshole or stop selling yourself as an alternative to Hollywood's bullshit.

Norwegian postal service if anyone is interested:

[personal profile] making_excuses 2014-03-05 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Between 11.00 and 16.00 is the norm think, about 15.00 Monday through Saturday where I live. There are places in Norway that get mail delivered less: either Monday-Friday or Mon, Wed and Fri also some might only get the mail delivered once a week, all those are in cases where the mail can't easily get to the houses, examples being: From the mainland to islands with few people living there, then it goes over with the food or any other kind of regular boat, and also people living in the more remote mountains...

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2014-03-05 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I have not seen it with an x before. That doesn't even make sense. That's just stupid. An x does not make the sound you need nor does it represent anything you want it to when you add it to yourself.

I have seen womyn though. I think it'd stupid but if you do it whatever, I'm not gonna say anything. I also think it's far less stupid than womxn because at least y makes the right fucking sound.

I would have thought jen-WAH. Or je-NWAH.

Re: Words you're not sure how they're pronounced

Neesh is closest to proper French pronunciation, although nitch is sometimes accepted usage ("there's a niche market for this overly specific thing").
