You are not a terrible fan at all! You like the music or support them and want them to be successful. That sounds fine to me!

If anything, I think people that are just interested because a member is appealing are not very good fans. There is nothing wrong with finding members attractive or unattractive, of course. But if that is the only thing that makes someone interested or not interested, then it seems to me that they are more a fan of the person, then the band itself.

Wow. Forget religion--do you have ANYTHING that you value enough that you'd take it as an insult to yourself if someone degraded it? A nation? A hero? Your mother?

I have just made caramelized onions and my house smells amazing. The pizza later will smell even more amazing.

From the season 7 episode "Attached," which I would have rewatched before replying if I weren't so lazy:

I'm pretty sure they met before she got married, but nothing happened between them. I'm a little fuzzy on whether Picard realized he had feelings for Crusher before her husband died, but "he was my best friend" was a huge factor in him not acting on his feelings, at least at first. Later, when they are assigned to the Enterprise, it's professionalism that keeps them apart.

(Picard then claims he slowly realized he no longer had romantic feelings for her, but then they kiss after that, so... I'm not sure I believe him. :P)

I've heard that some women actually don't naturally have a visible nub of a clitoris. I don't think that means they don't have one at all - i.e. the nerves are still there - just that it's more deeply buried. (I think I read that in an advice column somewhere when a guy wrote in about his girlfriend appearing to not have a clitoris.) I don't think this is super-common. there is definitely a lot of variation in how the clitoris looks from woman to woman, though.

I guess there is sense in people who are never prepared being dramatic...

Why go indoors and use the bathroom when people-with-penis regularly use trees and hedges in the garden? just 'cause I'm supposed to be "better"-mannered than them? They do so because they say it feels good; I've tried it and I agreee with them.

Re: How do guys feel about touchy-feely fictional guys?

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2014-04-05 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on how it's done? There's definitely a lot of touching that goes on in my different and various male friend groups, and it depends on the context and the company as to how believable I'll find it in fiction.

I'll see a lot more hugging and intimate cuddling from my queer friends, as a lot of people might expect, but it doesn't happen all that often. My nerdy friends almost never get physical with each other at all, to the point of awkwardness if someone accidentally does touch someone else. With new acquaintances (and therefore default assumption of hetero) in general a shoulder or a back pat is a pretty casual greeting that I get/give pretty often, and hugging isn't a thing that never happens. What's interesting is that the more sport-oriented friends I have are the ones that are the most touchy-feely/physical, but they also tend to touch in the least intimate way possible; back pats, head rubs, shoving, play fighting etc.

So yeah, it depends? If there's something like excessive shoulder rubbing or someone is trying to hold hands with someone else or touch someone else in a way that seems ...I dunno, off?... to me, then I stop seeing them as theoretical real people and start seeing them as self-insert fantasy though.

I also have to say that it depends on the culture they're supposed to be from as well, because it wouldn't be out of place even for Japanese teenagers to kiss each other on the cheek and cuddle and hold hands. I saw plenty of that while I was living there.

Good thing too one the clothing rule, because plenty of cis-women wear trousers these days. Including me. I think I own all of two skirts and only one dress, which I wear leggings under.

Coke (although more practically speaking, neither)
Marvel forver
Trek forever

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2014-04-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Cats AND dogs. I loooove thems.

PC? I don't hate Macs though, just always owned PCs.

Uhhh... both?

Neither. Fuck that diabetes bullshit. No soda at all.

Don't care. Marvel is winning the movie war, but DC is winning the video game war, I think.

Re: Questions there's never a good time to ask.

[personal profile] dreemyweird 2014-04-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, ok, maybe I was too hasty with "values". I rather thought you meant it in the context of the discussion, as in "religious values".

Certain people and/or traits, yes. If somebody insulted my best friend. If somebody insulted my nation(s), though, I'd just assume they're a violent idiot.

I was mostly talking ideologies and belief systems there. And I don't mind these getting insulted.

Sorry to be that one person, but I hate the idea of book club set up around pirating. If you/we go with the suggestion of posting a link to a torrent or other pirated copy, that's exactly what a FS book club would be.
