I find today's conflicting holidays hilarious.

Uh, what are the holidays and how are they conflicting?

Today Jesus rose from the grave to paint eggs to celebrate fertility, and also he's a rabbit.

It's Easter, that's the main one.

At a guess, I'd say the juvenile hilarity of the date, in American format (MMDD) being 4/20, which is slang for weed, is now a "holiday". I've seen it splattered all over a few social media/image sharing sites, and quite frankly I find it pathetic. Could just be because the smell of that stuff gives me a nasty headache.

Easter is the holiday which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ within the Christian faith, and is celebrated today in Catholic and most Protestant denominations (it is, IIRC, usually about two weeks later in most Orthodox churches). 4/20 is also a day widely regarded as a holiday for the celebration of marijuana. The two are conflicting in the sense that they are happening on the same day, and one is a religious holiday regarded as somewhat staid while the other is celebrating illicit drug use, widely seen as being in conflict with the perceived values of Christian communities.

Easter. But it is an excuse for eating candy and ham.

I wish I could have ham today but my dad doesn't like it and he does all the cooking in this house. At least I've got candy.

None! Yay. Or something.

Easter. I mean we have a few Easter chocolates out, my brother came to visit from NY. But mom doesn't really want to go out (I think she's developing this thing about too many people now, anxious when she sees our neighbors walking around outside in their own yard mind you). So Easter lunch was at Panera. At 12:30 it was very quiet so it worked out well. Except for the odd music that bothered mom since she couldn't figure it out. Easter dinner? She'll have leftover pizza, I'll scrounge something from the freezer.

So yeah. Eggs and all that chocolate, that's about it.

None, really. The rest of my family is (to various degrees) religious, but we don't celebrate anymore.

...At least not as a family. I was given chocolate (that I can't eat yet, damn this lifestyle!) earlier so Easter is still pretty cool in my book.

Easter. I don't go to church because of the whole disliking organized religion thing, but I still celebrate. My roommates and I are cooking dinner for it.

Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I think today is also officially Passover for Jewish people?(unless it was earlier this week). I actually didn't eat meat on Good Friday (it's the first time in forever since I paid attention to what I ate; though I did eat hard boiled eggs and I don't know if you can eat that on Good Friday or not).

It's really weird, I've been thinking more and more about the Catholic Church and mass but I don't know if it's because I actually miss religion or if it's just childhood nostalgia. I still remember Easter Vigil fondly.

I took a walk in the woods and enjoyed spring being finally here. Ostara a month late, I guess.

Passover. I forgot how incredibly not-filling matzoh is.

And oh God I want a cookie.

Technically Easter but none of my family celebrates it anymore so it's more of a long weekend for me these days.

Easter and Passover. Mixed family.

Of course, if I had my way we'd be making the most of 4/20.

i'm celebrating 4/20 because marijuana is super cool and i desperately want to be cool. i'm not celebrating too hard though to be fair i did that last night & ended up sleeping at a party with all my clothes on for 2 hours. ayyyy.

Another day of being alive :)

Spent basically the entire weekend outside, following a creek and reading books about nonhumanoid aliens. Ran into some Christians who shared their Easter chocolate, and some people of indeterminate faith who shared the subtle aroma of weed with the rest of the park, then went home and talked about Passover with my Orthodox landlords. Chilling for awhile now, then I'm going to open the windows and light some incense and meditate.

A public holiday where I don't have to go to work, hell yeah day off.

None today.

A public holiday that made me do the shopping a day early (because Friday was the day off). I don't buy Easter eggs because they're expensive, and generally disregard the whole holiday because of the mess of it being a pagan holiday thinly covered over with Christian concepts. I'd be curious to know how close to this time of year Jesus could have died. I certainly know Xmas is wildly off the time of year He'd have been born (too cold for shepherds to have their folks out on the hills at night).
