...Uh huh.

hahaha

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
is this an internet thing that everything related to japanese people has to be put in context of weeaboos or something?

inspired by #5

itt: actors/actresses you'd like to see playing other people

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
it's actually less of a weeaboo thing-- true self-proclaimed "otaku" seem to often find his work hit-or-miss-- it's more a movie-snob thing. Super elitist movie critics and whatnot are the ones who think he can do no wrong.

Well I don't know about worshipping him precisely, but I do like Studio Ghibli films. They are always beautiful - practically works of art. God, the background art alone....

I'm actually not too bothered about them as stories, but I think that's (non-existent) kids in a heartbeat though.

"can't fap to it, not interested"?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

*but I think that's because I'm too old for them. I would show them to my (non-existent) kids in a heartbeat though.

FFS, keyboard!

that's quite the teal dear you got there

I hadn't heard the cryptozoologist = YEC connection before, yikes. OP, if it makes you feel any better, cryptozoology is an interest of mine*, but I'm an atheist and I 100% believe in evolution.

* I feel like I ought to clarify: I'm not convinced there's such a thing as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, but it's an interesting subject.

oh boy.

can't tell if it's slightly subtle attempt at trolling or if this is sincere

2/10 for effort.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a huge failing for me. The movies are pretty to look at, but some of them don't reach their potential as stories, even though they could. Some do get there, other's ALMOST do, and it's pretty frustrating.

Castle in The Sky comes to mind. It's a fun movie but man are the characters flat and the world-building even more so (I guess it can get a pass since it was the studio's first...)

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny, my 70-year-old decidedly non-weaboo parents love him because he makes good movies. They own all of his movies on DVD and even called me up after they'd gone to see 'The Wind Rises' to tell me that I should go see it because it was so good.

I suspect you're setting out bait for a major wankfest about casting white people to play POCs, but it's really hard for me to take the idea of casting SMG as an extremely talented singer/dancer/actress/activist of ANY race seriously. That'd be like casting Danny DeVito to play the Hulk.

You're Happy-Place media

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yo. I need cheering up. What do you watch, read, play, or other that is both 1. Good and 2. Does not have a miserably depressing ending.

Protip: I just watched Odd Thomas on Netflix. Very very good film with an ending that has left me on the verge of tears. Sick of finishing Movies, Games (last game I played was Watch_Dogs), Books (Last book was the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Comics (Last comic was Y The Last Man which I finished monday... I might be cursed right now).

P.G. Wodehouse, either the stories or watching the Jeeves and Wooster TV adaptation. It's all over the top silliness, funny slang, and if you're watching the shows, Hugh Laurie playing his best upper class twit and Stephen Fry generally being awesome.

Anyone know what the dinosaur thing is supposed to be on this cover, I'm not aware of a dinosaur like creature in cryptozoology.

I love Gerard Butler but his singing really was the pits in that movie. :-/

Real Men Underwear Advert

(Anonymous) 2014-07-02 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ignoring the idiotic title (I'm pretty sure the original models are living, breathing men too), I'm posting this for three reasons.

Firstly, because this seemed like it might be interesting to people here on F!S. Secondly, because it's always great to see a range of body types for both genders in the media. Thirdly, because I'm being a wee bit pervy in that I like looking at half naked men (bald guy with the beard is SO HOT OMG). *coughs behind hand*

Aaaanyway, article is here on Buzzfeed: http://www.buzzfeed.com/copyranter/real-men-underwear-ads
