I like first person best when there's some really good reason for it to be first person and not third person.

One example is this Starsky and Hutch fic (which I think I first read after seeing it recced on F!S). It's is a WIP, which is tragic, but the narrating character's "voice" is just SO excellent and the subject matter of the fic makes it really appropriate for the fic to be first person:

I'm excited for season two of Arrow to drop, so I can watch it and know what's going on in season three and on Flash, which I fully intend to watch and am excited for.

Sadly, I think I'm probably done being excited about Castle. And maybe Grimm, too. I'm mildly excited for elements of Once Upon a Time, absolutely zero of which are related to Frozen, which I don't care about.

I just want to be able to compare orgasms with a clit versus orgasms with a dick.

I am now imagining that whenever someone accidentally types "bear skin" instead of "bare skin" that they are referring to the people in a world where everyone carries around bear skins. But it's, like, really taboo to show your bear skin, so you keep it under your clothes or stuffed in a bag. And because it's taboo, it's really exciting when you get to see someone's bear skin. There's a whole fetish porn industry surrounding it, whole videos of people just touching each other's bear skin. And sometimes people will show just a little bit of their bear skin when they're trying to pick someone up, and there are even flashers who will go up to people in the park and whip out their bear skin and then run away.

With all of that said...tell me some terrible puns that you like, FS.

Eh, they are just too easy to drift into Mary Sue and Marty Stu territory. The latter especially. Male characters inevitably drift into a sort of ultra sharp Dirty Harry voice, with added omni-disciplinary genius knowledge, in 1st person fanfics. Even if they avoid that, they usually fall into the trap of just dryly delivering exposition instead of dialogue. Although that happens in third person limited fics a lot too.

Though from what I understand it can already differ quite a lot between people of the same sex.

This isn't a thread about complaining about first-person fics though.

It's a thread about reccing the first-person fics that you actually DO like.

My favorite fantasy is the one where I don't have to worry about money and I can just stay inside my castle all day. The castle has a mall in it and I can shop for free. And I have magic as well as the best technology.

Jurassic World the new JP sequel. I know NOTHING about it except who is in it. Pretty sure they have released pics but I can't seem to find them.

And man, I always forget that OUAT is owned by Disney and has Disney chars (I have never watched).

The trailer for Big Hero 6 was hilarious! Had my sister in tears. Don't really care all that much for Boxtrolls and Annie. But I will have to find the trailers for the other ones you listed!

I find some authors really do overuse those sorts of descriptive phrases.

Apparently mine is weird, but.not for the reasons you'd think.

I'm into strapons, with guys and girls. I'm apparently really damn good at it. But I'm not a hardcore domme or anything. I do like being a sort of dominant top but that isn't particularly bondagy most of the time. I just learned I like being in charge.

This isn't an issue with girls, but most guys on the internet appear to want me to really demean them, even feminize them. I'm too nice for my kink! I just wanna call you a slut, not worthless!

Steven and Dodo (Dorothea) Chaplet, top right pic. I had no idea that people hated poor Dodo. I also have no idea whether Peter Purves, the actor who played Steven, was completely awful, since some fans apparently like him.

I'm gonna love it so hard. I may cry when The Circle of Life starts (Lion King is my most favorite movie).

Oh yes, Mockingjay looks great. I hope it follows close to the book like Catching Fire did. Also, I did not realize Haven had been on so long. ScFy shows always go under the radar.

I don't even want the films to suck, I like the DC universe and I love a bunch of the characters, but the more I hear about what's happening on their side the less I am enthused by it all.

I mean it's fucking superheros, having fun with it is kind of the point.

He makes me feel that there is a God.

At this point, I don't see Marvel (as far as movies go) ever disappointing me. I guess some people are not happy about Antman? But I love Paul Rudd, so meh.

My sis is definitely excited to see the Hobbit 3. Which is weird to me.
