I know how you feel. I write - but it's true, sometimes a picture tells a thousand words. It frustrates me I can't express the worlds in my head through drawing.

She did more in the later seasons, so just call the cosplay "later season Scully".

Also, if you're tall(er than Scully) it can be really hard to get a knee-length skirt. I'm 5'8", so not super tall, and everything business-like is either calf-length, or mid-thigh. Very frustrating! Mostly I just wear pants instead.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's not slut shaming OP, it's just wanting the details right, I get you. That actually would have been an amazing spot-on cosplay if she had the longer skirt!

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
This.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, OP, I disagree. I don't think the wax dummy does him justice at all.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. This.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
lol

+1

It's incredibly difficult to find skirts that aren't either above the knee or nearly floor length if you want to get them at anything resembling a reasonable price. (Reasonable here meaning "less than $100".)

Which is incredibly annoying both for cosplay purposes, and for finding a fucking skirt to wear in winter purposes.

I don't even watch this show and her facial expressions are pissing me off

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever. I love Dukat.

Basically this - the figure has a very neutral face/look, while the real deal is an actor who is very facially expressive.

I can never get over the fact how hilariously serious everyone is about this... whole thing. A part of me just always goes, LMAO CAKES :D OMNOMONOM :P

And the way every scandal is a huge, nationwide event - mind-blowing.

I've not seen this, but holy cow she's stunning.

Nope. If I came in to work with a skirt that short my boss would tell me to go home and change. Some suits may have skirts that fall above the knee, but not that many and not by that much.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've been kinda shipping them a bit. Oh well.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I had to get out of the DS9_rewatch chats because of the people going on and on about the super sexy Space Nazis. Vomit. If anything, they're more like Space British Empire anyway.

People can find the Cardassians interesting without going down that road, and I'm glad that you have found other people who do! There is quite a bit of good fic out there, and the show was very careful to make "evil race" WAY more complex than it looked when the show began.

I don't know, I would never wear an above knee skirt for job interviews and the office work that I do. Maybe I'm just more formal, but I don't think it's really an 'item of its time'.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I find it interesting that he talks a good game about being willing to hit pretty much anything, but that's not actually reflected in his actions.

Thanks for posting that. I have a mighty need for work-wear and will be checking them out.

OP:

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I hear Jack Harkness being brought up a lot during discussions about writing Moffat's done. I guess the information was inaccurate. oops.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

Oh really? I'm from the UK so perhaps it's different here.

In the early 90s, office skirts were generally knee to calf length. Over the knee would not have been acceptable.

They've shortened considerably since then, or at least there is a larger range of acceptable lengths. I've seen shorter skirts than that on the cosplayer, and I work in a very traditional finance sector where the staff have to project a serious, professional image.

Aren't they canon? That's probably part of it.

They look like they want to start singing a duet.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, yes, it was so frustrating how she'd cry and moan about the least little thing and everyone would rush over to comfort her (which is probably why she did it). She was a good baker and could have gone as far as she did without the histrionics.

Though I did get more sympathetic towards her when all those really nasty rumours about her sleeping with Paul came out.
