what are your best embarrassing drunk moments? Because I just got back from drinking with my colleagues, I thought I was super suave and cool, and looked in the mirror in my apartment and the red wine dyed my lips purple. So embarrassed! Not even in a, could pass for lipstick way, but like in a line across my lips. I could die. Luckily I'm drunk and will probably just sleep instead. seriously mortified though that no one told me.

On tumblr and doxxing

Someone I follow is apparently pro-doxing, as long as it's doxing the "right" people for the "right" reasons.

So, when someone on tumblr got doxxed (CK), they (DB) immediately took the phone number of CK, called them, and bugged them.

And now DB is complaining because the person who was doxxed (CK) may have posted the numbers of the people who bugged her online, and DB has been getting annoying messages. Oh, boo-fucking-hoo. Suck it up, if you can't take it, don't fucking dish it out.

Why can't we all agree that doxxing is bad??

How to not become your parents

So a year or so ago I went into therapy for some pretty bad depression.
And now I'm noticing just how incredibly NEGATIVE my parents are. Especially my mother. All the time. Some examples:

"I just got back from that interview. I'm kinda nervous."
"Did you fail? You failed, didn't you?"

"Hey, mum, I just did a month's of hard work and finally accomplished this thing I've wanted to do for a really long time, and I'm super excited!"
"That's nice. Now why didn't you do this thing? And this thing?"

She constantly focuses on the negative side of a situation and is incredibly quick to criticise or judge everyone. There'll be someone walking down the street with... idk, tattoos or a weird haircut or something and she'll make a comment about how their lifestyle choices or morally deficient. Meanwhile I couldn't care /less/ what that random stranger does! It's none of my business!

But the worst thing is that I'm staring to notice that /I/ do all that stuff, too. I'm really judgemental and negative and assume the worst. How do you stop being your parents? Especially when you have to live with them? I think being positive would be so much easier if they didn't shoot me down every time I tried to be.

What fics do you kinda wish were actual published novels so you could rec them to people in RL?

I have no problem reccing my grandma a novel with gay sex scenes in it, but there's no way I'd even think about reccing her even the tamest fluffy het teen wolf fanfiction, because that's way too nerdy for my family's tastes, which is a shame because some au fics are borderline masterpieces that are so au you don't even need to know the source material but are still incredibly great reads.

Slash pairings becoming canon

Does anyone think any of the popular slash pairings (Supernatural, Sherlock, etc.) have any chance at all of becoming canon?

My best friend is convinced it's going to happen, relatively soon (not which specific show/pairing, just that there's going to be a canon m/m couple who are main characters on something popular) but I just can't see it happening in the next five years. Maybe I'm too cynical, and I'd love to be wrong but I have a hard time believing it.

What do you guys think? How long do you think it'll take to have a canon m/m couple as main(ish) characters on a popular show?

My family has been laughing at me for two days straight because my dad randomly bought me a pair of chocolate penguins on a whim as a treat, and when eating the first one I had to turn the other penguin's face away so it wouldn't have to watch me eating its friend.

I've always done that, though. Anything edible that looks like an animal or a person, I always do things like bite their heads off first so they won't suffer, or try not to eat them in front of each other, and it's really, really stupid, because I should either just not care because inanimate chocolate, hello, or I should realise that all the kindness in the world won't change the fact that I'm planning to eat them, so I might as well embrace my evil and roll with it. Just ...

My family find it very amusing that I keep having little moral crises because I can't face the accusing eyes of a chocolate penguin whose friend I've just happily devoured. Head first. So it wouldn't suffer.

There are times when you're forced to realise that you are inherently ridiculous as a person, you know?

I unfollowed an RPer today because they said they were dropping a bunch of historical threads due to Ferguson ("it wouldn't be appropriate." WTF the best time to talk about shitty historical events is when history is repeating itself) and then they said that they chose their character because he's older than the others in the canon, and therefore he's "more complex" (yes, complexity is defined by age, and nothing else).

Have you unfollowed anyone recently because they've done things to annoy you? Or is there someone in your fandom who just really bugs you?

A question about tumblr tags

If you have a tag that has "tw:" in it (because trigger warning), does that make it so your post won't show up in any searches at all? Because it seems like every post I've put a trigger warning on hasn't shown up in any tag searches, which kinda seems to me like an incentive to not trigger warn.

Gift exchanges

So, I participated in a Christmas gift exchange with a makeup forum I belong to this year. My original gift recipient never responded to any of my messages asking for her wishlist/address/etc., so I ended up getting her original gift recipient after I'd already begun purchasing items. I'm also a fairly broke youngster, so I ended up getting what I thought was a very nice collection of mostly less-expensive items (but I specifically went out and tried to buy some things that were akin to the very expensive items on her wish list). Anyways, her gift arrived, and I'm pretty sure she hated it. She wrote a pretty concise "Thanks." in response (for context, most people are fairly effusive). I can't tell if I'm being overly sensitive, but now I feel terrible-- maybe I should have just spent the money on the pricy things she wanted? Anyways. Should I feel bad? Thoughts?

I'm going to structure this a little bit differently (hopefully get some more discussion?) and share a few of my thoughts, and then ask a few questions. I'm going to try to participate actively throughout the evening rather than post all of my thoughts at once (this will also make my initial post less tl;dr). But either way you don't have to read what I have to say - please participate any way you would like! Share thoughts, ask questions, respond to other comments, hell feel free to start discussion before my comments are up. Discuss away :)

I really like stories that involve body-swapping, multiple minds/souls in one body, or other similar tropes. This story did not disappoint in terms of getting into the weirdness of putting Frank into the body of a woman, especially one he didn't know very well (that would have created an entirely different dynamic, though also an interesting one) but I wish we'd gotten more perspective on the other three swappees. We hardly saw anything from Elhared or the dragon (who btw I wish had gotten a proper name) and even though we saw a lot of dragon!Lucille, she was never the narrator so we didn't see her reactions to her new body outside the general "I don't want to be a dragon! (wait nvm I do)". I would have loved to see a more even focus.

I really enjoyed the writing style of this book; it wasn't perfect all the way through, but the very first chapter already had me laughing and appreciating the narrator's voice, and that made me want to read more right away. I liked that about it.

Here are a few questions (I'll put my own answers up in a reply):

What do you think will happen now to the Lendowyn royal family's line of inheritance?

What did you think of the way elves were written?

What would you have tried to do, in the end, if you were in Frank or Lucille's shoes?
