Yeah, I'm with you there. I understand the appeal for younger fans, but when I started to encounter twenty-somethings, thirty-somethings, forty-somethings (wtfh?) who garbled over the show like six-year-olds? That kind of made me want to go back to being as sheltered as I was when I was six, and I only watched educational television and ate granola bars. Seriously. It's a kids show. Either be less creepy, old!Avatar fanbase, or gtfo. Seriously.

(And I don't even watch it. Lulz.)

In before about a billion comments saying 'tell that to my girlfriend'. Cause in my fandom, pretty much all the bnfs live with their girlfriends irl, and we have no end of drama cause of all the girl on girl love triangles at cons.

I do agree that people whining about 'too many lesbians' in fandom are idiots. In my experience there are more than you think, but they tend to keep quiet because you get a bunch of idiots going LOLOLOL Y R U WRITING YAOI/HET/ANYTHING BUT YURI. Fandom can be a great place to explore sexuality, and so those of us who wouldn't be interested in operating a cock irl can still experiment.

5: I think there definitely are "fandom lesbians," to be quite honest. To the point where whenever I see someone talk about "my girlfriend" on LJ or whatever my initial reaction is "oh, lesbian couple." (Not in a bad way, just in a... 'huh' way) This is true both in real life and on the intarwebs from what I've seen.

I think you're right, that fandom (taken as a whole) tends to be more sexuality-open (usually, not always, of course)... which could explain it. I mean, I hardly think fandom turns girls gay, or only gay girls like fandom.

Personally, I think it's sort of interesting to look at.

Do you know how to get the old games to play on XP? I was told you couldn't play them on anything after 95 unless you had Linux...it makes me sad. They are an important part of my childhood.

Not the SP, but DOSbox (http://www.dosbox.com/) is great for playing old games. In the specific case of Monkey Island and other SCUMM games (and a few non-SCUMM ones), ScummVM (http://www.scummvm.org/) is also awesome. Hope that helps.

26. Okay...so you won't watch a show because you think that it'll put you down as a 'weeaboo'. Which is incorrect - most of the cultural influences in Avatar AREN'T Japanese. Admittedly, there's touches of it (and god FORBID somebody be influenced or enjoy something Japanese nowadays), but most of it is from other cultures and countries around the world. Inuit, Korean, Chinese...they're all in there, along with many other cultures, and they're certainly not Japanese. Totally different kettle of fish. So yeah, sorry that not all shows on TV are all American...in America.

45. Heh, that's cute. But damnit, people, that isn't Kyle. I haven't got a single problem with people drawing the South Park boys at different ages - it's cool to see the way people stylise the characters and change them to fit their age - but damnit stick to what they actually look like. Kyle's hair is a goofy Daywalker jewfro not some vaguelly-the-same-colour (though it probably would get darker as he got older so whatever) pretty anime bishie hair. /ramble

But mmyep. Just sick of seeing skinny Cartmans, fro-less Kyles and girly Kennys. They grew out of that metrosexual phase D:

I always feel sorry for furries :| They're left being beaten about like nothing else even if they haven't done anything. And of course, this leads to a chain reaction in maximum insecurity where everybody's terrified of drawing anthro characters because then they'll be put down as a furry and will spend the entire comment going 'I'm not a furry, don't presume I am because I'm not blahblahblah'. Animal characters have been around for years, way before the furry fandom went nuts >< Bugs Bunny, Felix the Cat, Watership Down, all have /furry/ characters. Does that mean Chuck Jones, Tex Avery etc etc or Richard Adams were furries? No, it meant they either found the subject matter interesting, thought the character would have more appeal as an animal or thought that it suited the personality of the character more.

So yeah. No need to start hating on people that have probably not done anything wrong to you other than draw what they like (sacriledge), it probably means to need to get some fresh air and chill out a bit. High blood pressure will give you grief when you're old, yanno. /ramble

...this is why I shouldn't go on fandomsecrets when I've just woke up and haven't had my tea yet

I'm fairly new in Doctor Who fandom as well (like less than half a year XD) and it's not as bad as it may seem. It's full of intelligent and nice people actually XD you just have to avoid the hardcore shippers/shitstirrers and not get upset about what they're blabbering, then you'll be fine ;) (and ihasatardis has none of those, anyway XD)
