Well, just this week she finally came out and said that she thinks Cosby did it, though it's kind of awful that it took her so long. Her excuse was rather flimsy, too... something about how she thought that she didn't want to say anything before it went to trial, but since the state of limitations has expired, she's okay with pronouncing him guilty now?

She has changed her mind. With all the news coming out, she had a legal reporter/lawyer on The View this week and they talked about the case. She learned some things and has decided Cosby is probably guilty.

I understand how you can feel that way but, if you ever have a dear friend or family member who is accused of such a crime, you'll have a hard time not defending them. I 100% believe Bill Cosby is guilty and my heart has been breaking for months over this. He was my hero as a child because he let me see a family on TV that looked and felt like mine. When the accusations first started, I really believed they were lies. Then they kept coming and I couldn't do anything but believe and mourn. I don't know how I would feel if someone I cared about was revealed to be a monster, but I know I'd defend them from the accusations... at first.

And, yeah, I have a lot of sympathy for Whoopi. I don't even want to imagine how Raven Symone feels. There's a lot of pain and heartbreak for them with this.

A lot of things Whoopi says on the View are messy and she has defended horrible people in the past.

So yeah whenever I watch something with her I try very hard to forget her as a person and remember the character. I will not let her ruin TNG for me.

Pretty much all she has said, over and over, is that he is innocent until proven guilty. Legally, this is true. The fact that Cosby is obviously guilty as sin doesn't make it okay to demand his head on a platter because it just isn't how things work here. Letting public outrage go too far, especially in a case against a PoC, sets a slippery slope precedent. She'd be saying the same thing if he were white, though she probably wouldn't be as invested. She was speaking out because she genuinely thought there would be a trial. It's not that the legal consultant came and gave her info about his crimes that changed her mind. He explained to her why it was unlikely, given the circumstances, that he would ever go to trial. And then she gave her actual opinion, because legal justice was out of the picture. She's not stupid, she's not vile. She's just a woman of strong convictions, and she stuck to her guns despite America waving their pitchforks and calling her a rape apologist.

I love Guinan, too, but I'm okay with Whoopi Goldberg, though I don't know her that well. I'm sad that she defended Cosby for so long.
