#1- That's absolutely ridiculous. It's so ridiculous that it makes me almost want to cry because of how empty that message is. If you really believed in your religion, you would have found ways to deal with it and fandom. Fandom is supposed to be a way of expressing yourself, not a place of OMG OPPRESSION and DEVIANCE. Damn it! Own up to your faith and your actions. Don't blame other people for what you freely choose to do.

23. I feel the same way about FMA. I had been into anime for many years before that, but ever since I bought that FMA DVD out of a whim three years ago, it has been my love. I don't think that you have to replace it, and I've been able to enjoy series since then. Just try not to compare then to your favorite.

27. Tanaka! Yay for a Genshiken secret! Tanaka is sexy, though I had a bigger crush on Madarame. Tanaka probably makes the best boyfriend out of all the guys though. Tanaka/Ohno is so cute!

41. I'm a huge yaoi/BL/slash fan, and I really like Death Note, but I don't get it either. Really, I don't get any romance in that series at all. Maybe I'm not far enough into it? I haven't gotten to the second part yet, and that's where most of the yaoi is from, it looks like.

3. Hmm... I'd suggest you find a better role model. Sylar really drove his life against a wall, he's made countless enemies, he is wanted for murder, so he is constantly on the run, and he has no friends and caused his mother's death without wanting to. I mean... I'd hate to end up like that.

46. You know, I hate the argument that people who only write ship!fic because they can't understand the platonic. While yes that may be true, I read ship fic, because I don't tend to get it in canon, and I am usually happy and content and satisfied with the gen stuff in the show, and if I am not, I talk that stuff over in discussion, not fanfic. I understand and value the platonic even if I don't tend to write or read it in fanfic.

1. That's sad. Really, it is. I'm not exactly the most devout or practicing when it comes to my religion, but most people know about it. You shouldn't hide what you believe just because you have fandom friends who might disagree. I have friends of all faiths and beliefs, and we all just accept that.

23. I think everyone has those series that really mean something to them and I'm sure some of that has to do with nostalgia and such. Very few series ever live up to the ones I loved first. It's probably the same for most people.

30. Well, I do think Gaeta is probably gay. I want to know what happened as well, but not for shippy reasons.

40. I did that as a kid, but really whatever works for you regardless of age. I can't say that I haven't felt like I was in a dungeon crawler a few times at night in my house and I'd be lying if I didn't find it kind of awesome.

42. My younger sister used to watch Sponge Bob and I was such a Plankton fangirl. I always wanted him to get it, as well.

Unfortunately, cosplay can be a very shallow hobby and people need to know that when they get into it because no matter how good or how bad you might be at it nothing's sacred and someone will have an issue with you over something. That said, if you want to cosplay you really should. I've met some wonderful friends through it and really I'll take all the shit because of that.

68. ... is that Subspecies? Man, that movie freaked me out so badly as a child and I was one of those kids who wanted to be a vampire. But really, the SL in retrospect was pretty awesome ... I should rewatch them now and see if I actually like the series. I just remember the chick was lovely and I think I wanted to be her. Lol.

It's not a problem to be religious. Believe what you want, but just make sure it won't offend others.

Unfortuenately, many religious fans that I know (Muslims and Jews included) have taken their faith too far to the point where they were actually shoving their beliefs down people's throats, people they considered "immoral." People who don't like to be converted get very put off when others try to "save" them, so the fandom has become a bit bitter in the area of religion.

I say I'm pretty open to all religions, with Christanity being my childhood faith, but I have grown very discusseted with the hypocrosy that tends to dwell within certain leaders and followers alike.

My point is that it's good to have faith, but not everyone will share those values.

So what? That means people should have to hide their faith?

Fandom imposes values on people relentlessly. They have whole systems set up to mock people who don't immediately agree with the popular opinion. Dissent about love and sexuality in particular means you're screwed. I've never actually seen any person in fandom say to someone else "You can't do that because my religiously-based value system says so."

1) You aren't hiding your faith. You are just realizing that no one in fandom cares to hear about it. No one in fandom cares to hear about your job, husband, children, diet or any number of important non-fandom related things about you -- doesn't mean you are hiding them. It means you have a sense of who your audience is. Go you.

My deepest respect goes to the authors who can do both within the same story; adequately develop and explore the romantic relationship as well as the platonic. I don't understand why some people act like it has to be one or the other. I want a story that has both my OTP and both of their relationships with other characters.
