44. Interesting. I've read the book, and the sequel, and I was hesitant to watch the movie because I didn't particularly like the books, and thought they were some of the weakest DWJ books I've ever read. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie was excellent, and I've seen it quite a few times now. I'm not really a Miyazaki fangirl, so it has nothing to do with him. I just think it's a good story, and makes the characters a lot more interesting. I like movie!Howl a lot more than book!Howl. Miyazaki did excellent work with the material he was given.

19. Misa is AWESOME. She's one of my favorite Death Note characters (well, actually, I like all Death Note girls). As for Light x L... I understand why people ship them, but their relationship bothers me. I'm practically incapable of enjoying rival slash.

Why it's my OTP, after all of these years.

38 - Don't worry. I crack-ship in Yotsuba too. I srsly want Yanda/Fuuka to happen, even though they haven't met yet. XD

44 - I read/saw both--I actually liked the movie better overall, and it had nothing to do with it being Miyazaki. I like his films and all, but they aren't the be all end all with me (My favorite Ghibli film is actually 'The Cat Returns'--not a Miyazaki film! XD). I just liked the pacing of the movie a bit better, and the characters were more likable to me. That said, the movie had some aspects that I wish had been translated over to the movie, such as Sophie's powers, Michael/Markl's real age and relationship with Sophie's sister, etc. Still, both are awesome.

63 - Amen. Someone who gets what cosplay is really about. Don't ever stop having fun with it. :D

44. HMC is my favorite Ghibli film and quite possibly the most romantic movie I've ever seen. It made me want to cry in like three spots when nothing does that anymore. I don't have to read the book before I decide I enjoy the movie. I'm sort of, uhm, judging the movie by itself. Because it IS a separate thing.

It's because of the movie that I even know about the book in the first place, and want to read it (when I can freaking find it) no matter how different it is, so...yeah. Hush and go watch My Neighbor Totoro or something and lighten up. :)

Those motherfuckers are super fine but I find the existence of FoTC slash slightly disturbing given that the characters are basically overgrown children

It seems like it should be like the innocent, exploratory prepubescent sexual experiences you have with the neighbor kid or your cousin and then block out of your mind until your therapist mentions something offhand that brings all your repressed memories of licking koolaid powder off another kid's dick rushing back just like that

the first time I watched X, I did neither know about Tokyo Babylon nor who Seishirou was. But I cried so hard when he died T__T which was the reason to do some research and since then I'm stuck with them as my OTP.
(and I hope he won't screw up in TRC again -.-;

My friends have started "consulting" me on scene stuff like I'd really know or something, beyond the music. It's at once amusing and really obnoxious, especially when it's done for the sake of accurately writing with the voice of a fifteen year old.

I'm a relatively tolerant and open person, I don't really care for the ethnicity of a person, but every time I see a Japanese girl who goes "zomg I = kawaiii cuz I come from teh land of dem Manga and Anime! I knows teh language so I understand them before you! Worship me $ mah culture, desouuuuu~ <33333" I want to kill her with fire.

Okay, so your country produces something that's known and loved world-wide. So what? I have no reason to worship you, unless you're like, my fav mangaka. I think it's correct to use the term "weeaboo" for the people who do worship anything Japanese, it's an unhealthy obsession. I'm a cosplayer and read manga, but not because I'm crazy about you or your people - I happen to like sewing and costumes, period.

Also, going on saying the worship goes to the entire culture and typical physical appearance is a ~~bit~~ lot overboard. It's a matter of opinion. Personally, I find, say, Europe's history (pick any country from it) and its culture a lot more interesting both in its psychological and development point of view. I don't know what do you get away with, or who lets you get away with it, but if I were in your shoes, I'd have some doubts if I'm not a shallow person for others to have to resort to seeing me as my country's stereotype instead of and individual. Just saying.

On a final note (which I really wouldn't have written normally, but flimsy points of view like yours provoke me to no end) I don't see the whole fuss about the Japanese. Give me a nice, fair-haired, blue-eyed, tall, busty or wide-shouldered (according to respectful gender) Caucasian any day. But it's not about the appearance so much as it is about your ingroup/outgroup elitism; where what you call 'elite' makes the rest of the world raise an eyebrow because to most, you all look and act alike.

You are nice people with an interesting tradition. Thank you for posting this secret; I advise you keep it locked and safe from the rest of the world if you don't want whoever lets you get away with stuff to smarten up and treat you for the hollow elitist you are.

63. Like I said above - we may cosplay for different reasons, but you're absolutely right. Being a good cosplayer takes skill, intelligence, charisma, guts and a social life (which you expand by being a cosplayer), things that most people who call cosplayers stupid (or worse adjectives) don't have, from my experience at least. I'd like to see any of them -try- to be a cosplayer for 24 hours. Or have them make a costume.
