49- Gurren Lagann singlehandedly redeemed anime for me. It may not be the *best*, but it's my favorite.

57- No, you certainly aren't alone. Many people like it. Hell, there's a lot to like there; I may think it's the worst of the four and really dislike a lot of what they did, but I do honestly love a good amount of it and I'd still choose even the worst AA game over most other games any day.

I do hate Cersei. I really do. I tried not to. I couldn't help it. She's so magnificently written that I can't help but get a bad taste in my mouth when I see her mentioned. That said, I LOVE READING HER POV. I don't care if I love or hate the character, as long as they're interesting. :P

I feel kind of bad about this, but I think I understand what you mean, but in reverse. I'm a black American. Last year I went to Japan. Never before have I seen so many unconvincing attempts at gangsta. It's really not my thing, but I took a small, guilty amount of pleasure in the knowledge that if I chose, I could effortlessly pull off that coveted style so much more convincingly than any of the posers around me.

And then I got over myself, because they turned out to be really nice people. I don't think it's about culture envy so much as discovering yourself using whatever materials you can find, no matter where they come from. I know that sounds incredibly hokey. Forgive me.

The movie is different from the book? NO. FREAKING. WAY. THAT NEVER FUCKING HAPPENS.

This just in! I read the book and watched the movie! Breaking news! I LIKED THEM BOTH. IT IS POSSIBLE. Miyazaki and Wynn-Jones also liked theirs and each other's versions. They were able to tolerate the changes in the stories and discuss it like adults without bitching each other full of wank. Get the hell over it. A movie doesn't have to stay glued to the book to be a good film on its own. And Howl's Moving Castle WAS a good movie. If the author herself can handle changes, then a puny little fanbrat should suck it up and grow an inch or two.

Also? Child =/= Automatic "pedobait". The fact that pedophilia is the first thing that some of you think of when you see a kid is pretty damn sad.
