I treat my toys like they're real. I never go anywhere without at least one or two. I'm house-sitting for a couple of days, so I brought three of my Autobots with me. ^_^ They keep me safe. Well, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe do. Ratchet is here to make sure they don't break the house while I'm out.

Because I take them everywhere, people have noticed. My best friend doesn't care, and will even talk to my toys as well. (I have the best best friend in the world, seriously.) The few people who do say anything negative about it are people I generally don't like anyway.

Actually, the ASOIAF fandom on the whole seems to dislike most of the characters in the books that I enjoy, which is maybe why I don't participate in it. I dunno. yay for the tl;drish response.

44. Well, one does have to consider that the book and movie of HMC are two completely different and seperate things. The movie is only Miyazaki's interpretation of the book, using some of the things from Diana Wynn Jones' original. Considering how unique most of his films are, you couldn't really expect him to create a carbon copy of the book, with no creative/fanciful input on his part. Then it wouldn't be his film.
The point is, you have to seperate the book and the movie in your mind. I have serious issues doing this myself, with movie adaptations. For some reason, though, HMC didn't affect me that way - I liked both the movie and the book, because they were very different from one another, but both had likable elements. :)

Seriously, the movie is its own thing and it's good, but, well... it's not the book. And the book is just so spectacular! Not to mention due to Japanese sexism (and yes IT IS THERE, Japanophiles), movie!Sophie is not NEARLY as strong as book!Sophie. Sure, she's still a strong character, but I totally CAN NOT respect her as much as the book Sophie.

It's all the crying and that DAMN hissy fit she throws when Howl's throwing his fit. Book!Sophie handled that SO much better. <3

44- Sexism is definitely prominent in Japan. However, Miyazaki is an avowed feminist and goes out of his way to write strong heroines. Movie!Sophie is less BITCHY than book Sophie, but that does not in the least make her less strong.

Note: I do not think book Sophie is a bitch.
