Here is the thing. Yes, I get annoyed sometimes if people go on about things, and you look at it and go "wow you are displaying your entitlement there, and not realizing it'.

But pretty much everyone (including me) in any fandom is going to have some kind of unconscious unintentional entitlement on some level. Because no matter the race/gender/ethnicity we've got the money to be obsessive over something and spend time on it.

If it bothers you so much, then find the posts where people are being sane. And point it out. Do it in a nice way, and then you cannot complain that you are not going to take part in any discussion until people realize where their own issues lie. At least if they're talking about it, they're starting to get on the right track. And entitlement isn't right, but most of the time it is also unintentional and people don't realize it even exists. Which isn't always an excuse, but if they are getting onto the right track, point it out. Do it in a sane, calm manner - and do it in the sane posts.

It would also probably help if more people understood what subconscious entitlement means, but maybe that will grow more. At least we're even able to discuss now it.

I'm not going to even go into the issues that I think the writers of SGA at the moment seriously have. Because that? Is a whole other story, that sadly, even if it is brought up to them, they don't want to admit it. At least some parts of fandom are. But when people get irrational and angry and yell, constructive discussion just cannot take place.

edit:: p.s The people discussing it most of the time are not the people who are just obsessed with pretty boys fucking, they are the ones who want to completely ignore it. They are the ones who go "stop talking about it, it's my pretty boy time". The people discussing it, may also love fics where McKay and Sheppard get it on, but they're also the ones looking at it from more then one angle at least [except for the crazies. Who exist in every fandom]

That was interesting, thank you. As I said in the secret I don't think everything is peachy in TV-land; I honestly just do think that even people not ignoring the issues have such a high tendency to "blame" their obviously (to me, at least) skewed and gender- and race-obsessed view of a show on the creators. Why does fandom not like the "colored" people? Because the show creators are writing them horribly and thereby making it impossible for us to like them, obviously! Same with females. Ad ifinitum. And if we bully out a female character from a show, that is a good thing in fandom, because we stood together and rid the world of such a horribly badly-written female character. Eh. No, the writers aren't always doing the best job possible, but sometimes I want to throw things at fandom and tell them to look at themselves before they start accusing others. It doesn't help that fandom generally degenerate into a circle-jerk in situations like that, everyone confirming everyone else's opinions that no, we are not racist or misogynist, it's them. I'm not saying that shipping McShep or Wincst or Petrellicest in themselves makes you racist, but if fandoms and the individuals in them keep only shipping pairing of that, uh, "kind", can't we at least see that there is an unconscious tendency for sexual racism in fandom, which is just as blatant as the conscious tendency in TV-land to cast white males in their late-20s and early-30s as the main characters? Not to mention Heroes fandom's obsession with young and skinny blondes. "I like the character and ships I like because I like how they're written!" is fine and all, but look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture is creepy.

Chrono Trigger in general is one of those things that has really stayed with me. It was the first fandom I read fic for (besides Gundam Wing, which I was just in for the sex).
