Quite funny if I do say so myself. Wolfram would totally be like Colbert, except Yuuri came along and made him be honest about his feelings. I swear, Wolfram is the only reason I watch that show anymore. He can go out, kick some ass, and protect those he loves, and then he can dress in a pink nightgown and confess his love for his husband-to-be. I think that scene where they climbed the mountain way back when sealed them as my OTP, when Wolfram was affected by the gas and thought Yuuri was going to kill him, but didn't care. Dammit, I want someone to be the Wolfram to my Yuuri, except for the fact that I would marry him straight away rather than not be sure about my sexuality.

To be honest, some of my favorite fics have OCs in them. Sometimes you have to put someone else in the cast because it's just so small or there's nobody in the cast that can play the proper role that's needed for the story. I don't mind, really, so long as they're OCs and not sues.

122 - Don't worry--I've done that myself, though not because of anime. I'm highly empathic, so it kinda depends on who I'm interacting with. The only accent/mannerisms I don't just blend into without notice would be the reallly southern twang--which is hilarious because I was born in a tiny town in Texas.

137 - Good for you. I know it's entirely possible to write an OC without making them a Sue: I've done it. All you need to keep in mind is the motive--what do you want to achieve with this story and will everyone still be themselves? Is it impossible to achieve this scenario without an original character?

If the only goal in the story is to get an OC into someone's pants and/or make all their rivals look bad/fawn over them, ok yes--it's a Sue. But otherwise, I'm more careful about throwing that label around.

162 - She looks like she would be of mixed descent--probably Euro-Asian. I went to school with a girl who was Italian/Japanese and the resemblance was striking.

Acting *is* playing different aspects of yourself, how could one act any other way? You can't just make stuff up. Also, I'm totally sure Michael Gambon wants to be remebered as Dumbledore aside from all of his other work. It's not like he did anything else. . .

102 I completely agree about the taking stuff down thing. I started up with SGA and I'm not sure if 'Danvers' stopped writing, took their stuff down, or just moved their website so all the links on any rec page lead to nowhere, but it's INCREDIBLY frustrating. Guys, remember, just because YOU don't find it interesting anymore doesn't mean WE don't! Grr!

135 You know, I love the internet because no matter what happens there, no matter how gross/inappropriate/socially unacceptable things get, there's always the universal love of kittens.

137 There's an absolutely fabulous Snape/OC story that I read over and over again, that OFC is absolutely NOT a Mary Sue for all the specialness to her, and I just love that. The idea that any and all OCs are Mary Sue/Stu like is just ridiculous, and people that believe that are blind to all the characters that don't follow this rule in their head. There are plenty of stories with OCs that people with this attitude don't even NOTICE because they're not full on main characters in a pairing. The hypocrisy is astounding, sometimes.

156 I dunno, I agree in some ways that it might be dangerous to attribute so much weight to fandom in such a decision, but don't disregard the honesty of opening your mind to something just because the vehicle for it was something that isn't 'socially acceptable' as a pasttime. Plenty of secrets on here talk of having discovered their love of a job field or gone to school for something or fallen in love because of fandom activities, and things can turn out great or not so great even if your motivation was purely discussions with friends in the flesh.

158 I wanted to like Gambon but that shit he pulled in Goblet of Fire throwing Harry around just pissed me off to no end. From what I hear of HBP spoilers, it's going to be NOTHING like the book and I refuse to have anything further to do with the films. I'm with you on this one. WTF.
