103. I've heard good things about that series. I'll have to pick it up someday.

117. That's nice. I still prefer having paid accounts when possible.

137. I agree that there are definite differences between Sues and OCs. Too bad so much of fandom fights this concept tooth and nail.

146. App anyway. New people are awesome, and I'd love to see you around. Have you considered joining the IRC channel? We're all fantabulous dorks and love newcomers.

155. All I can say is jump into the waters. If you can find an RP that doesn't have your character already, go ahead and app him/her. If you find an RP that looks like fun but has your preferred character taken, try playing a different character that you like. The only way you'll get experience is by participating.

172. Haha, I always have a map open just so I don't get lost. Different people have different play styles, and whatever works for you is great!

I don't quite get IRC ^^; And as I've said to two others already; I have another rp which I love and which I'm afraid that I'd start to neglect if I got a chance to play with you people, because I'd try so hard to be good enough. And I don't want to do that to the muns in the other RP ^^;

So many. Apparently I'm feeling bitchy today. No hard feelings, anons that I've yelled at.

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
103. Uhhh. You honestly couldn't figure out that porn misrepresents the emotional attachment involved in sex? Really? Fucking truly? And I'd hardly agree that sex is the be-all end-all of love, so uh, yeah. Keep searchin' there.

112. You don't need a life plan at 16, no matter how much of a genius you are.

113. That's funny, 'cause I blame you.

I hate these blaming secrets.

117. It's a waste, I agree, but I can't say I've ever gotten angry over it unless the RPer sucks and really just wanted more icons to cover up that fact.

135. Well good for you, that groups you in with basically 90% of people who bitch perpetually about the drama they usually have a hand in creating.

137. I agree.

144. And this is Nurse Joy's other job.

146. Oh, for fuck's sake. I don't even know this place, but did you really need to make this "secret" just to publicly lick their shoes? They're not Gods. They're popular RPers. If you really want to play with them then get off your fucking knees, ask someone to help you figure out what they're looking for and write a good app, and go do it.

155. Anyone who considers a fandom character "their exclusive character" deserves to be annoyed, among other things. Find a place where a char you want is open, talk to the mods, tell them you've never done it before and explain what you do know, and wait to see what they say. Lurk on [livejournal.com profile] bad_rpers_suck for a bit to find out common things that will piss people off in RP if messing up worries you so much. Really. Go. Make an effort. Have some fun. Check in with people to make sure you're doing alright. It'll be fine.

156. Get off the internet for a while? Or try to balance it/drown it out with something else that's fun and influential? You're only twenty, you've got a long life ahead of you, and taking a year or two to make sure that your decision is your own will probably save you a lot of stress later on.

162. I don't know, man. The lips say asian to me. I'm trying to place the nose. And no, I don't think that those eyebrows look Italian at all.

172. To be honest, I think it's just a bad habit you get yourself into. You probably could figure things out when you get stuck on what to do next, but it's just so much quicker to look it up and get on with your game, and then once the window is open...
It's also terrible for indecisive people such as myself.

146 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-05-28 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure you interpreted the secret right. The secret ISN'T about how much I want to play with them, it's MEANT to be a "this is how I feel about you guys" secret. I want to let them know, and I'll never be able to tell them openly, because of the exact feelings I've described in the secret.

124. IAWTS SO HARD. ASDFGHJKL;

141. You're kidding me, right? Superman ruined Lex Luthor but Smallville & Superman Returns didn't? Gimme a break. And how exactly does the "Sub-standard" special effects of the movie make it any less of a good film? Lordy, lordy, how ever would we survive without the use of computer generated imaging?

174. AGREED! ♥

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
133. I bloody hated that episode, and I still think that's incredibly sweet. More power to you!

156. I think it's highly unlikely your feelings have been caused by fandom - it's more likely you've found, in fandom, a safe place where people play around imaginatively and do thought experiments on new possibilities when it comes to sex and gender. (But I think you'll get better advice about the real life decision from your shrink.)

Yes, pls.

Actually, I just want more space!gypsy fic, in general. People have jumped on the Athosian & Satedan ideas & imagined up whole cultures for them, and have even invented cultures of their own, but I find the idea of space!gypsies much more intriguing.

Maybe I've watched too much Firefly?

102. That's hard, but you're right. If they're going to burn bridges because the grass is greener -- you are better off without them. Let them go be mercurial at someone else's playground. It's sad when fandoms get smaller and quieter, but that doesn't mean they aren't still filled with love. <3

103. That is unbelievably sweet. You sound like someone who is considerate, with a big heart. As long as you keep that attitude, I think you'll find the right person. Your secret made me smile. :)

110. Sometimes I think that they're both dingbats, but at other times they do have some great advice. Who knew that a show about modeling could make me feel better about myself? O__o It sounds so silly, but I really do agree with you.

112. Don't stress out too much about the future. You're still very young! I'm almost 30 and still trying to figure things out. But hey! German class was the most fun I ever had in school. It came so naturally to me. I find German culture really interesting too... DAMMIT! I haven't spoken German in years, but I think that YOUR SECRET might have just sparked me to pick it up again. Wow! O_O I think I will! Thank you! ^__^

113. Okay, now you have me intrigued. *___* I have never heard of that book, but I am interested if there is a fandom for it. YOU DON'T SAY. *jots down the name*

114. HAAAA HA HA HA. Haaaaa, OMG. But, no seriously -- that's fucking hot. I am jealous. :(

117. Ah, the pleasures of a disposable income! I imagine it might be on the wane due to increased gas prices... GOOD LORD, I HAVE BECOME MY MOTHER.

119. I can't help but agree with you. I love gay characters -- but not if they are only characters BECAUSE they're gay. Ultimate Colossus is a nice example of how a gay character isn't completely defined by his love life. It comes up from time to time, but no more than the love lives of the other characters. He has outside interests. I'm worried that these two are suffering because so much of their personalities are wrapped up in one another. I love the IDEA of them, but I am siding with you.

122. Don't be worried! You're enjoying yourself, having fun and getting into new things. That's all positive in my book. If some Scrooges want to rain on your parade and make fun of you, that's THEIR business. The fact of the matter is, I've known plenty of people who were very into the Japanese scene IRL -- myself included for a time -- and never ONCE did someone say anything mean to me/us/them to their faces. That's an internet thing. People like to snicker at others from the comfort of their own home. It takes a REAL GRADE-A BUTTHOLE to up and tease someone to their face, especially when the person they're teasing is only guilty of having fun and being joyful. So, don't you worry about it. You are doing nothing wrong. Being happy and spirited is never a bad thing. <3

124. To you... and me, and a million other people. GOOD LORD YES. He is a silver fox.

127. Not psycho at all! :D I want to play it. :(

141. I still find it amusing that Marlon Brando got top billing. O____o My love for Christopher Reeve knows no bounds, and I think he was a wonderful Superman. But I agree with you that it doesn't hold up. Also, Gene Hackman is diabolical-LITE at best. You're on the money there.

152. You don't have to take music LITERALLY. The whole point of enjoying music is finding your own meaning in songs that are powerful to you. *slaps you upside the head* If you don't like other people's fanmixes, make your own. If you don't want to make your own, then shut up. You are whining for whining's sake.

153. THE HELL YOU CAN'T. I ship it! Ship it hard! You'd BETTER write something, dammit. >:O

155. Of all the things RP is, "boring" is not one of them.

156. I applaud you for taking the steps to understand your own sexuality, and there is no shame in it. Gender confusion is a difficult thing! But between deciding for yourself and having surgery there is a Grand Canyon of time and progression. Just make sure that you eventually *DO* talk about this with your therapist. If she/he isn't the kind of therapist who is trained in that area, seek out one who is. I'm sure wherever you live that there is professional support for the gay/lesbian/transgendered community. Hopefully once you are more comfortable with yourself you can seek out more information and start opening up to others about it. But it's always a good idea to suss out these sort of things in therapy before announcing it to the family, if you feel uncomfortable and apprehensive. You have nothing but time. Nothing has to be decided today. Just continue to be open minded, try not to judge yourself and know that whatever you decide to do -- 1) You must do it for yourself. 2) There are always people willing to listen and love you. Hang in there. <3

158. SETTLE. THE. FUCK. DOWN. Do you even know what a "character actor" is? Jesus Christ. You're jumping his shit for saying that he isn't typecast? 9__9 If you would have bothered to see some of his work OUTSIDE of the Harry Potter movies -- DECADES WORTH OF WORK -- you'd realize there's more to being a good actor than trying to please one humorless little shit on the internet. I'm guessing you haven't seen many movies made before 2000, though. Go back to school, you troglodyte. Your ignorance is showing.

162. You're spending way too much time on this.

167. More Twilight hate. How original.

169. I am so sorry for your loss. ;__;

174. But be fair -- Harrison is not going to be be making action movies in ten years. Imagine how people felt when Steve McQueen retired from the biz? I love Harrison Ford as much as the next fan, but try to accept that he's just not getting any younger. No one wants to REPLACE him -- but if the flicks are making money, it's a little silly to think that they won't do a "next generation" kind of deal. :/

I don’t have anyone like that in Real Life, though ^^; Or online. I have friends who I can talk to, but none of them are transsexual. And yeah, I will bring it up with my therapist, at some point. It’s too serious a doubt to not talk to her about.

Thank you.

158. IAWTS. SO much. His Dumbledore is just. Not Dumbledore. At all. I would buy all seven books and mail them to him if he'd just READ them. Then maybe he'd be better at it. D<

166. Eiichiiiii. D: I felt so bad for him throughout the series. Poor guy, he just wanted to be with Mitsuki.

Damn. so many Indy secrets today. That was sudden. I loves him.

167 IAWTC. I don't know how people can take Twilight seriously. D: I loved sweet valley when i was 10. I thought Twilight was full of lulz and I didn't hate the books until people freaked out when I said they weren't that great. I can't see how Twilight can be thought of as high literature when it's just the usual overdramatic mary sue-ridden teen-novel schlock with an extra helping of vampires in it.

TB1OMG. I'M NOT ALONE!!1!!

Though quite honestly there's a lot of stupidity in that secret, I can't help it. :'D It would mean that Gundams really existed. I'd die happy if I saw a Real Life Gundam. Even if that gundam killed me. Or crushed my left hand.

now i feel lame D:

i'm not this much of a fantard am i?

143) POINT.
I liked the movie, but aliens in Indiana Jones are a huge WTF and I can totally understand someone NOT being fine with that. I'm just too apathetic to care personally~ It definitely didn't compare to the original movies, though. Not by a long shot. To me, though, that doesn't make it a bad movie. But I also didn't go in with exceptionally high expectations, and not just because I was having a bad day the day I saw it. And I'm not saying you had high expectations going in.
My POINT is that it doesn't make you inferior or a bitch to dislike this movie, because I too saw some flaws in it.

147) LOLZ

155) If you're a good writer, RPing really isn't so hard. You just need to be flexible and be able to work with other people, and that includes being active and asking people to do scenes with you or getting your characters to be active so they meet more people. I mean, just sitting there waiting for people to come to you doesn't quite work. You should try it. ♥

156) Good luck in your decision. D:

158) I've heard that Gambon just says BS/lies in interviews and that really he does work to get a character right. However, I really, really don't like how he protrays Dumbledore (and I feel strongly about this after seeing him in the forth movie) and I haven't seen him in enough other roles besides Dumbledore to really see if that's really true. >:

174) IAWTC D: HARRISON FORD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BE INDIANA JONES. Sooooo glad Shia didn't put on the hat. I mean, I like his character and all. But I didn't want him to REPLACE INDIANA JONES. D:

Lolz I ♥ the Indiana Jones secrets. :D

[identity profile] elladarcy.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, that's not what he MEANT. He's talking about the part of all acting training based on Stanislavski's Method that requires the actor to ask 'what if this were me?' because of the fact that everyone is capable of everything. It's not a question of "not acting," it's a question of finding that part of yourself that is capable of the same things as the character.

That's why the Method fucks people up. It shows them exactly what they are capable of, because it shows them aspects of themselves that they can't handle. It's why Heath Ledger was so messed up that he overdosed-- he saw something in himself that he couldn't take.

124, 153, 174

[identity profile] xmomentofzen.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
124 and 174: I agree completely. I love that people probably assumed I showed up to the movie to watch Shia, but I was definitely there for Harrison.

153: I knew these secrets would be coming, lol. I could see it coming a mile away that they were father and son, but for a little while I couldn't help but ship it. I'm not into incestuous pairings in the least, but I've been pretending much of The Crystal Skull didn't happen/happened differently, so I don't feel so bad. God, what a stupid ending. xD

Hahaha helloooooo influx of Indy secrets! Damn I really kind of hate that new movie. XP

124) Harrison Ford will be hot even in the grave. <3

126) I adore that song and have it on my iPod. Just so you know, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

143) Wait, you're INFERIOR if you didn't like it? This is news to me. It's also total bullshit. Being loyal to the originals does not make you inferior. And yeah, I thought the movie was okay until the last twenty minutes or so. Then it just got weird. Ugh.

167) ...I'm SO disturbed by the fact that there is a Sweet Valley High book called "All Night Long". o_O

169) I'm so sorry.

174) I think the whole ending with Indy refusing to let Mutt wear his hat was a sign that Shia's not about to replace Harrison. Then again, we all thought the whole ending of "Last Crusade" with them riding into the sunset was a sign that they weren't making any more movies. But I will try to be optimistic here!

N!S 3) THANK YOU. I hate feeling like I'm less of a fan because I don't follow the manga. Holy shit.

P.S. WTF NEW NUMBERING SYSTEM *brain is broken*
