102. I think it helps that Brian and Stewie usually don't act much like a typical dog and baby. So, like you said, it's easy to forget how wrong it is.

124. XD

108: ....I'm still on the fence about furries at anime cons. If it's an anime-related furry character, like Kirara or Kyuubi from Naruto, yes. But if it's just a plain fursona character fursuit, I don't think it belongs.

132: There's also a naked woman in one part ;D

[identity profile] batmarg.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
104. Hell yes.

128. I never thought of it that way...and I kinda agree.

[identity profile] victor-victim.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
101 - it's okay, I do the same :)

138 - It's so sad the fandom died. But truth be told... I prefer just enjoying it by myself. I unno. Don't give up hope - Sam is my hero as well~

138

[identity profile] scionofgrace.livejournal.com 2008-06-04 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I spent nine years alone with my obsession before the movies came out, so it's a bit too easy to slip back into that solitude. But if anybody wants someone to fangirl (or fanboy) Sam with, I'm totally there.

Tolkien called Sam the real hero of the story. He's everything I admire, and - no secret - my first fictional crush.

105. I feel similar. It seems so in fashion to just bash everything he's done, but I honestly enjoyed pretty much all his work. I really liked Lady In The Water, too (though I'm sure it helps that I love Paul Giamatti). I'm excited for The Happening, I think it looks really promising.

Re: 105

[identity profile] singing-sparrow.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't wait for The Happening! I'm hoping it'll bring his acclaim back; it looks like a unique premise.

147: Ahahaha, I specifically remember thinking "Well, shit, that cane is basically so much kindling now, isn't it?" while watching that episode. RIP Flame Cane. :'(

164: I'm a huge Utada fan and those songs still get me pretty emotional - and I haven't even played the games.

'Passion' still gives me the shivers every time I hear it and it's been two years nearly.

Also, your icon kicks major ass :D

115: Wait, wait, SPN fandom LIKING women? I thought every woman who came within a six-feet radius of Sam or Dean or Jared or Jensen was supposed to die a fiery death?

152: Pfff, try Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1. Now THERE's a character with a revolving door to the afterlife! I'm fairly sure he's got Dean beat if you take Mystery Spot as just one death.

(Anonymous) 2008-06-02 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
The fandom doesn't dislike women. It's just that the way they add some characters are sudden and poorly done. They suddenly add random female characters to be love interest but don't bother to develop them just "HELLO! WE'RE HERE AND IN EVERY EPISODE NOW. NO DEVELOPMENT AT ALL." There have been plenty of characters in SPN that people would love to have come back. Ellen, Sarah, etc. IT's just that having people like Jo and Bela shoved down our throats is tiresome. And the characterizations are just plain bad :/

The joints may get creakier, the botox injections may become numerous, and the amount of vaseline they smear on the lens may reach astronomical levels, but he's the only Indy Jones. Screw LaBoef. (Well, actually, I'd love to- when he looks like Brando. But that's about it.)
138. Sam FTW! He really is such an inspiration, a pillar of strength and resolve

104. I agree with your PS. He wasn't bad, but he's... well, he's not Harrison Ford, and I think those shoes are just too big for him to fill.

[identity profile] freakyfanboy.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
105. Yeah, I honestly really like his films. I haven't seen Lady In The Water yet, but I agree with how you feel about his films. Sure, they're flawed, but there's some genuinely good stuff.

113. One of the few Adult Swim shows I found any interesting. But I sadly can't get over my extreme dislike of Tim and Eric.

124. LOL XDDDD Luckily I don't find the voices similar enough...but dude, that'd be AWESOME. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET MARK HAMIL TO DO THIS IN A PARODY.

132. here were some FREAKING SCARY movies for kids when I was younger! Not just this one--anyone remember We're Back? With that crazy carnival with the Deal with a Devil SIGNED IN BLOOD? Dude WTF. I credit cartoons like those for my love of angst and darker media now.

138. The fandom's still around, I think...there's some fairly active LOTR icontests. I haven't been in it for a while, though. ;-;

139. That's AWESOME.

147. Wait, what, the flame cane's gone??

It's more of a co-dependent relationship, rather than twisted. Well I suppose the twisted part comes from the fact he wants to kill her. But yeah. More Co-dependent.

I think what happened is after Sixth Sense people started to expect "OMG TWISTS" from his work, and when the twists weren't enough for them or weren't satisfying to people they started saying "All he does is lame twists which you can see coming from a mile away!" Which is...really sort of stupid, since that's not ALL he does in his films. Personally I enjoy more how he plays around with tropes and how visual his works are, but y'know...

tl;dr: Everyone expects his stuff to be just like Sixth Sense.
