104. No, not even tapping that sexy ass would make his hat fall off. :(

111. I love Nowaki and Hiro's relationship. They're so cute. :3

133. ...Kay. I love his tsundere ass and the fact that he's trying hard to fight for the Right-Hand spot. Quite frankly, I find him a better character than Yamamoto would ever be. He's a human, did you expect nothing but good qualities?

134. Who is this 10 year old boy you love to ship? And the intangible energy. Hell, SAUCE PLEASE?

109. People! RP is a hobby! It's okay to make friends through it, really!

#128

[identity profile] x-bluerose-x.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that the people who saw a romance between them saw the movie first and got confused. THERE WAS NO ROMANCE.

But I 100% agree with you otherwise. I'm bi and I can't ship those two. It's like saying there's no such thing as a strong, close friendship. But most shipping and fandom tends to go that way to begin with. :-/

Re: #128

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The director did say there was subtext between the two, the movie made it more blatantly so.

24. AHAHAHAHA LOL.

26. But it does change a lot of things, unless you're some lameass who's pretending to be bi for the attention or something. Or your friend realizes that it's just goofing around, which clearly she doesn't.

57. None of them are really strong, sry2say. And it sucks, yeah, but what can you do about it?

Too Big 1. No, I just like them better as friends.

128

[identity profile] kaze-taco.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
128. I don't know... I think you kind of missed the point. Utena rejected becoming a princess, and rejected Akio-- instead choosing to rescue her friend (or more if that's what you want to see, they left it ambiguous). In the end Anthy ALSO rejected Akio, the man she loved, to cast off her supressive role of the Rose Bride and go find Utena... and live for herself.

I found it to be a very empowering ending.

(Even though, for the record, I -do- ship Utena/Anthy.)

Re: 128

[identity profile] aquadyne.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I got the same impression, of Anthy living for herself, and...rambled about it in my own comment on the 7th page ^^; Yeah, I think the series is very against the Prince/Princess roles and ideals, although I can't speak for the manga.

To be honest, I've never really understood the fandom hatred for him.

114. God I looooved that show.

162 - I love that flash and have for many years. But I feel like the only person in the world who hasn't cried about it.

[identity profile] pavonine.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
101. Is that a poison dart frog?

Also, you're not alone. Lots of people who want to break out with their OCs think of the fame, the glory, and most importantly the fandom.

102. IT CAN'T BE WRONG, IT'S PRACTICALLY CANON. Or at least Stewie's insinuations of a crush on Brian is canon. Besides, it's Family Guy. You know. The show with the pedophile and the episode where Peter had a stroke and Stewie's 2girls1cup reaction video?

I think Stewie/Brian is the least of the show's problems. Also, throwing this your way if you haven't read it: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3771910/1/Coming_Out (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3771910/1/Coming_Out)

104. Aww, I like Shia. And I liek Indy/Mutt, even if the incest bit still makes me squirm and question my morals.

105. She sees dead people.

108. Since you didn't call it, LOL FURFAG. (Kidding, yiff away.)

113. Dark? Surreal? Nightmarish? Vot ees zees show und vere can I find eet?

120. That's how it starts. First you hate it, then one pairing gets you hooked and you realize "Hey, this isn't so bad." Next thing you know, you're quoting a RPS fic in your term paper about hurt/comfort and loving every second of it.

122. Timmy doesn't fall down the well in this, does he.

126. You are totally wrong. Kissing a girl means you are a big, flaming dyke who loves ladies and abhors men. You'd best start practicing rolling your R's; I hear it comes in handy.

129. Taaaaaake on meeeeee... I'lllllllll beeeeeeee goooooooooone... IN A DAY OR TWOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

That's all I thought when I saw this. That and the Family Guy music video remake thing.

131. I think Twilight would work a lot better (well, not really, but it would be a better ~*~literary~*~ achievement) if Edward were the villain. Because then Meyer could twist her story into one where Edward is clearly crazy-nutso and Bella is really torn between just wanting to go along for the ride because he can't be all that bad and remembering that he wants to hang her up by her nails and suck her blood like a sanguinarian Hoover.

132. The marshmallows were scary. As were the cutting edge appliances. And that whole nature scene that got twisted out of proportion. And that giant magnet...

I CAN'T TAKE THIS KIND OF PRESSURE

135. Seasons 4-7 were my favorite, with the exception of the Potentials. They were irritating. Though, I do like long, popular AU fics...

139. I just submitted a term paper on hurt/comfort fanfiction and the motivations behind writing it. :-D We are not dorks. We are speshul.

140. Why's it funny considering Kyle? Because of "Blame Canadia"?

144. If it's wrong, then I think right just hasn't explored its options enough.

147. It broke, right?

Fuck. That cane was the sex.

Probably literally.

156. It's hip to be incestual?

157. Kind of agree. THIRTEEN YOU CAN'T DIE NOOOOOOO AMBER I FEEL BAD FOR YOU TOO YOU WOULD'VE MADE A KILLA DEAN OF MEDICINE

162. I watched one of those scary pop-up flash animations (you know: "Look for Waldo... keep looking... keep lookingBOOHAHAYOUPEEDYOURSELF), and I had to put this and Michelle Branch on repeat for the rest of the night.

166. I liked her in it, especially for "The Worst Pies in London." Lansbury could use her for a meat pie kick her butt, sure, but I still thought she wasn't bad.

143. ...mmm, hot.
147. Heh. I love Amber, but I also mourn the cane... :(
164. Simple and Clean or the piano part for KH1? Because the piano music always makes me feel wonderfully nostalgic.

I don't remember "My Teacher Was an Alien" much beyond that I felt it was really unfair for the aliens to admonish humanity for not, like, feeding the world, while doing nothing to help Earth itself, those arrogant pricks. But there probably is a lot of ship potential between the three main characters.

Also, I think I had a "My Teacher is an Alien" minigame booklet.

I think most of fandom likes Sandy because she and Jared are so clearly over the moon for each other, and she really likes watching him interact with his fans. If you like the fangirls, they like you back.

Besides, Sandy is the first one to admit that dating Jared is why she got the part. (http://www.cw18tv.com/ontheair/shows/SPR_WEBISODE_SANDRA.php)

Yay for Takeshi Kaga! (I miss the original Iron Chef series...)

((Also, there's a clip somewhere on YouTube where seventeen actors who have portrayed Jean Valjean in international performances of Les Misérables -- including Kaga! -- perform "Do You Hear The People Sing?". He really does have a great voice.))

The summer before my senior year of high school I took a SAT prep class, and we learned that it doesn't really matter what you write about so long as you fit the graders' arbitrary criteria. When I had to do the essay for the real SAT, I wrote something comparing Hitler and Paris Hilton and got a 10 on it too XD. Now if only I could remember what the prompt was o_O

106 There is only one way that secret could be awesomer, and I adore you for admitting it!

122 As others have said, the difference is that Sondheim totally knows that it's a fucked up relationship. Portraying an obsessive relationship and reveling in the drama-llama is awesome. Portraying an obsessive relationship as the height of romance is scary.

123 Every place becomes a place for wank eventually, because when a comm/board/fandom/whatever gets to a certain size there are not only disagreements among the members, but also enough of an audience to feed the drama whores. Don't feed the trolls etc. But Genshiken image FTW!

136 Would that more fanboys could be as open and honest as you, sir. If I could find you, I would marry you.

143 Talk about sailing the SS Have We Met. I mean, it's hot, but also inexplicable.

166 HBC is not Angela, and it's too bad most people only think of her as Jessica Fletcher, but their portrayals are so very different that I can't even compare them myself.

105

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Good call! I don't think his movies are masterpieces, but they don't deserve all the hate they get. I liked that the aliens were killed by water in Signs. And Merril taking a baseball bat to that one was such an amazing, cathartic, triumphant moment- I loved every second of it.

Re: 105

[identity profile] vivalanaomi.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Although The Sixth Sense is probably his technically superior movie, Signs is still my favorite. I just loved the family so much. Even despite the Mel factor.

102, 104, 112, 122, 144, 164, 166

104. AGREE.
112. Hahaha, I think that's awesome. I have dreams like that sometimes too, you aren't alone. :P
122. I loved Passion too, cried like a baby. You're not an idiot, unless for some reason you try to re-enact it in real life and expect the same kind of ending... like what you like, and screw the rest, y'know?
144. I would still like a kiss though. ;)
164. Aww... I still cry when I hear the ending March for KH1. But, cheer up! It's not over yet.
166. Hard to read secret... I have to disagree though. Carter wasn't the best Lovett voice-wise, but I couldn't stand listening to Lansbury's squawking. Ugh.
kiaxet: (OMG Why Don't I Have...)

[personal profile] kiaxet 2008-06-02 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I followed the series for the longest time...until I realized that it was not ending at volume 18 or 20 or 24 as I'd been told, and I couldn't figure out what was happening during fight scenes to save my life.

I could live with the art; the plot just got too big for me and I lost interest. |D

Re: 155

(Anonymous) 2008-06-03 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, isn't is still being written/manga'd? How long has it been going on now, 18 years?!?!?! And we're up to 26 volumes, and nobody knows what what the hell's going on.

What. The hell.

131.) mah thoughts on Twilight, let me show you them

(Anonymous) 2008-06-02 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
131.) I think a few edits and re-workings of the story could have made Twilight less hilarious...and at least mediocre.

If the vampires lived in secret, and Edward acted 100% more inhuman...and had been taught to stay away from those crazy outsiders. Then have Edward lurk too close and get interested. And perhaps have Bella work for the School Newspaper, and have her more interesting than a piece of soggy cardboard. Have Bella investigate a town urban legend, that vampires live in secret, out deep in the woods--in an attempt to fit in her new school. Adventure ensues. Two sides collide. Something like that. It would have got rid of some of the more annoying, hilariously bad, logic flaws that plague it. Seriously, SMeyer, it could have taken a few moments of your time to work out the logic flaws.
