Not all anime has that look, and even if it does -- sometimes the plot is so excellent that it doesn't matter what it looks like. Go for genre, not look.

Huh, the comparison to 'Beauty' is a new one. Now I really have to read that book. The Atlantis one sounded genuine - like, the similarities in the visuals are INSANE - but Kimba always seemed really spurious to me (and if not there's enough added, like the cultural stuff, that I think I'd enjoy it anyway). That's reading descriptions and not viewing any of these, of course.

I don't WANT it to be true, because there are just coincidences like that sometimes and Disney takes stories from all other kinds of things while giving perfectly good credit, but I want to man it up and admit it if it's so. :(

...there's still a fandom for Hercules?? Damn. It was my first ever fandom and that was like, ten years ago and it was also the only one I was actually active in.

For the record, I liked Adonis quite a lot and I'd developed an obsession with Ancient Greece, its culture and mythology to the point where it weighs heavily in most of my original projects. Thanks, Hercules. I owe you. Or, rather, I will should I ever get published.

173- I don't know much about Death Note since I've only watched the movies but even I find it annoying when people try and compare a rather simple fictional idea with something so complex from our history. Half the people that do the comparing don't even pay attention in their history classes and just do it to sound smart when really they understand nothing.

Ah, I feel for you, secret-maker. I would be bitterly disappointed if I met Stephen and we did not subsequently lead a life of close friendship and cozy evenings. Wow, another Hercules secret. But I totally know what you're talking about, the reason I got into the fandom in the first place was because I LOVED what it did with Greek mythology, and the fact that you had to have some knowledge of Greek myths to get a full enjoyment from it! There does seem to be a rather healthy dose of ... we'll say uninformed to be diplomatic.
