165. The similarities are a bit uncanny, but I'm pretty sure Robin McKinley herself said (on her website or something) that there was no rip-off to her knowledge. Just coincidence, it seems.
I can see where you're coming though. The book-loving heroine is unique to those retellings as the original fairy tale's Beauty didn't have any overwhelming love for books. She had more pressing things to do like talk to birds and dream about the same prince every night who asks her to free him from a "beastly" dilemma which she can't figure out--among other stuff I'm actually rather glad Disney and McKinley left out.

I have 30k worth of RPS fic I've written about my lit professors. Too bad the fandom is solely me. :(

Tracers suck, but they'll get theirs if/when they get into the big leagues and someone sues their ass for it.

She kind of is in the big leagues though. I paid an arm and a leg for some stuff of hers at Yaoi-Con.

Oh man, I love this show and I can't believe there are two secrets about it in THE SAME POST. hahaha!

103. I don't mind Adonis ... I think he's pretty funny sometimes.

158. How could you even watch this show if you didn't know about ancient Greek culture? You'd miss all of the best jokes!! :(
cleverthylacine: a cute little thylacine (feeling psychotic?)

[personal profile] cleverthylacine 2008-07-24 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
TB3: I don't like it either. I wasn't aware it was popular in fandom, I thought it was the kind of show "normal" people (whoever they are) like.

NS1: Are you Frank the Goat? Just wondering!

184: Inorite? His republican cognitive dissonance is adorable.

182. I should try that, fantasising that where I was was someplace else got me thru summer camp and loads of school when I was a kid but I gave it up.

173. Didn't you know that everyone who contemplates murdering a lot of people is JUST LIKE HITLER? Man, I still don't think Voldemort = Hitler (clearly, Grindelwald = Hitler, and the things Jo wrote about Grindelwald are fucking disturbing when you realise that) and he was into killing the mundanes--Light is SO not Hitler. He's homicidal and insane and evil, but not Hitler.

171. I think it is effing hilarious that some mouse thinks this is about me. I suspect that what the OP is defining as "creepy non-con" was posted by people who think it's "kink". Which would be fine if, you know, they'd actually include something in the fic to the effect that Gail respects Profit and Profit likes her, the way it is in, you know, canon? But a man humiliating and dominating a woman who could have her locked up in jail for life by telling her secret is awfully close to rape, and hence I hardly ever read that pairing any more, because I only like the kind of rapefic where the victim sekritly loves every minute of it and wishes it would never ever stop (yeah, call me a sicko, but I've heard it before and hello, FICTION) and don't actually enjoy fics where someone is really suffering.

170. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd no I didn't write this one. But...SIGNED.

165. OMG OMG OMG OMG I SO AGREE. The Kimba one especially. However, the McKinley book one, not so much, it's based on the same fairy tale as the movie, it's not a ripoff. And Daniel Jackson FTW. (I am so in love with Daniel Jackson.)

163. You forgot the bows for Chase's head. (I love Chase though so I don't hang out much at that comm.)

162. I liked it. Rufus Sewell FTY (For the yum).

157. Ironically Ten made me love Nine all the more. Ten's overacting makes me think: "OMG you still think you're Barty Crouch Jr!"

150. Hotter than capsaicin.

144. BWAHAHAHAH there used to be a site on Network 54 called "The Foxes' Teahouse" for people who were the third party in affairs that wanted to steal them from their partner and I cannot not think of that when I see that.

141. Serenity would make a great religious figure.

122. AW.

119. I used to feel that way but in the last year it's become a little ridiculous. (Still upset that Rick turned evil, he was so sweet in the very beginning and Ephraim Ellis is so beautiful.)

110. I agree.

107. Yes, this.

104. Am I the only person who thinks he looks really gross?

124. You are NOT ALONE! Phwoaaar. Gene Wilder's Wonka is well sexier than Depp's!

154.

[identity profile] supershibby.livejournal.com 2008-07-24 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
...I always thought Jafar was hotter than Aladdin, personally.

109, 127, 130, 143

[identity profile] evildarkmonkey.livejournal.com 2008-07-24 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
109-Woah, somebody else likes those better too? I still wish to play it after all these years, it was much more fun in the sense that you actually had a battle type situation, and the different styles of all the dancers were pretty cool. They even help me and a friend get through our dance class, since it had that dance editor. Just plug in some things, add others and voila a dance. lol I wonder what my teacher would have said if she ever knew.

127-lol I may be a fan of anime, but how do people get that you're racist because you don't like the style of CARTOONS? Some of us fans have a weird mindset...I mean if it's something someone doesn't like, whatever, move on. Anime's just not for everyone, and you're not going to change their minds by dissing them. Actually, I think that will do just the opposite...Ahahaha, for some reason, my brain started thinking of the similarities between this and forcing religious views on people. Weird.

130-Are they seriously re-releasing Clamp School Detectives?! <3 Dude, screw Ouran and, what I think is an inevitable sucky dub (Sorry people, I just don't like Funi, -.- unless it's a title not many care about i.e. Mushishi, I seriously love the dub of this as much as the subs :D) I'll go for the CLAMP love!!

143-Ahaha, have you seen her eyes in real life...like on a cosplayer? Seriously, creepy. It made me wonder how I ever thought they were cute D:

Nuff said.

[identity profile] arashi-tenkai.livejournal.com 2008-07-24 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
105. I used to ship my history prof with my english prof. You're not the only weirdo. XD;

130. Wait... Clamp's REMAKING it?! I liked Clamp Gakuen Tanteidan... But if they're gonna remake it with the crap art they have now, I'm afraid I'm just gonna lose my lunch. And yes. Gakuen Tanteidan>Ouran.

159. I wanna get started on Monster some time! Is it good?

165. I FUCKIN SEE IT!!

173. Death Note fanbrats can be such retards.

181. Part of me goes "Poetic justice! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" because you forced people into a fandom.

159 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-07-24 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. I cannot describe how much "yes" there is. Monster is absolutely amazing, in every way. But it's much slower paced compared to things like Paranoia Agent or Death Note, and it takes a while to get into, so make sure you have some patience for the story to really get rolling.

105. LOL - that's one way of keeping yourself interested. :P

123. Yeah, for guys like Stephen it's best to keep it all imaginary! But I'd settle for being dazzled repeatedly by his intellect. :D

135. Hell, why not? <3 At least he's real-looking.

162. I finally saw Dark City about a year ago and wondered why I'd waited so long. Better than The Matrix. MUCH better.

[identity profile] dia-aren-marie.livejournal.com 2008-07-24 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
109. FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHH BUST-A-GROOVE OH MY GODDDD ANONYMOUS ILU *spazzes* (Oh lordie, I miss the days of Bust-a-Move Global :'[)

129. Meep! Jin! ♥ LOL, don't worry, my friends and classmates still debate on the topic of her gender and other such things... heck, my friend had been 'researching' last year whether or not she was a girl and finally gave me an (overdue) conclusion a few weeks ago! XDDD Ah, man... I see her around a lot because we go to the same college, but I've always been too shy to talk to her. :x;;
