[identity profile] rejects.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
S-seriously? *_*;; This made my day, I LOVE that series and always thought it took an unfair backseat to Ouran...which I still liked! But not as much.

159.

[identity profile] pacificpikachu.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
159. I completely agree. 20th Century Boys is the most amazing manga I've ever set eyes upon.

Hello, my friend! 8D

136, 140

[identity profile] winged-panda.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
136. Yeah, that is my favorite quote from the entire series, as well, it's amazing =D
140. Okay, so now I have to read this. It's going to bother me until I do. Lovely xD I hope I can stomach it.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
105. I shipped my English teacher with my Chemistry teacher in high school. I don't usually like RPS much, either, but the UST between those two was just too much to ignore.

113. Why'd you lie? Seems a silly thing to lie about, wanting to see a movie.

116. I do hope you don't take offense to this, but that's the sort of thing that would make me want to introduce myself to you and be your friend. XD; I'm usually pretty reclusive, but whenever I become aware of someone's nerdiness, I tend to open up to them easier. Don't be embarrassed, anyway. It's not like you can help it.

124. Well, I liked both movies (as different entities), but I know what you mean - I've been in love with Gene Wilder since I was a child. Not just as Willy Wonka, but as anyone. Even today. I'd still hit it.

135. Well, bad teeth don't turn me on, but Steve Buscemi? YESPLZ.

184. OP, you just got incredibly attractive to me. :x

(Anonymous) 2008-07-24 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

At the very least, I don't have any anime attack names as vocal tics. Yet.

Oh no... Is my hero becoming this week's John Malkovich/Chris Walker? D:

110. Well, you guaranteed a lot more readership by posting here. Your goal, I'm sure. (is reading, yes)

116. ...If you did that in front of me, I'd flail with love and fellow geeking.

130. THANK YOU. I also hope I'm not the only person who sees that Tamaki is TOTALLY Nokoru. ...Only less intelligent. Honestly though, CCD bores me... I just love the boys. SHORT SHORTS!

165. Pffft, Disney rarely has an original bone in its body |D This coming from a shameless fangirl.

170. ...That's a ridiculously awesome, epic cover. Do want.

114. DO WANT x9001.

116. I'm sorry about your condition.

118. WHAT THE FUCK THOSE ARE NOT THE PPG THAT I GREW UP WITH FFFFFFFFFFFF

121. I have a bad feeling about this...

127. I think the "anime hater = racist" stuff is almost always untrue unless the person says something like "I HATE ANIME FUCKING NIPS GOTTA RUIN EVERYTHING RAAAAAAAAAAAGE." I do enjoy anime-styled artwork, though, and I respect your opinion.

136. DUMBLEDORE DIES

143. Eh, I'm used to WTFeyes.

150. Their hair should totally get together.

165. I actually enjoyed Atlantis, and I still do now, even if it is a Nadia clone.

116: THAT IS AWESOME BUT PROBABLY SUCKS AT THE SAME TIME.

159: I firmly believe that I didn't enjoy Death Note because I tried to read it RIGHT AFTER I read Monster, and Urasawa just did it so much better.

174: I'm so guilty of this it's not even funny. Unfortunately, I'm not about to stop any time soon because damn if I don't like my pretty colors and I don't always want to wait until something gets officially colored/animated. Sorry (but not really), anon.

A terrifying, amazing, disturbing book. I own it, and I would love to read it again, but I don't know if I can. Both because it's really scary, and because it's extremely difficult to read. I loved it.

It's especially enjoyable if you listen to Poe's Haunted while you're reading too, in case you didn't know. It gives me chills just thinking about it.

"The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale."

Zork. Good stuff.

140. Jesus Christ, House of Leaves. >_< The nightmares...

160. Eva... *sniffles*

165. I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks Atlantis = Nadia makes me LOL. Since that rumor has already thoroughly and totally destroyed. As in, the movie has nothing in it that wasn't part of the Atlantis mythos BEFORE Nadia. That, and both were inspired by (and ripped-off ideas from) Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea. So, acting angry at their similarities when they're both taking cues from the same source is kinda dumb. I ain't touching anything else, because they've all been bitched to death (And yes, I LOL over TLK/Kimba controversy, too. "Let's be vegetarians!" vs "Circle of Life" FTW!). Really, old complaint is old.

Re: 140, 160, 165,

[identity profile] luxshine.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
165. I think anyone who thinks Atlantis = Nadia has not seen one (or both) of the works in question. So, yes, Nadia and Kida kinda look alike if you... squint. And there are crystals. And OMG, Milo wears glasses and so does Jean. But once you get past that? The coincidences are only skin deep.

(TLK/Kimba has a bit more of an argument, but when Ozamu Tezuka's wife asks for the whole thing to be put aside, I think we can let that die.)

127

[identity profile] jagapyon.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're going to make such a sweeping generalization, at least do a little research. Can you look up, say, Akagi (or Kaiji) and honestly come to the conclusion that every anime and manga series looks the same?

Although I'll make a point that some (a lot) of people will jump on a series for having an atypical art style, like One Piece. ):

110) Is that the same Merlin Missy who used to be a very prolific Gargoyles fanfic author?

124. Gene Wilder was totally hot in that movie, it's true! "The suspense is killing me! ... I hope it'll last." *swoon*

135. Awwww, Steve Buscemi. He looks so sweet there.

150. Oh, totally. I remember when "Beyond the Sea" aired and I got a little peeved with the show for ripping off "Silence of the Lambs" so directly. (Not that that movie/book started the whole "pretty young female agent has to have the scary, vaguely sexy incarcerated crazed serial killer in jail help her find the killer" trope, but the X-Files episode and SOTL came out within a couple of years of each other.)

162. No, you're not the only one.

167. What is that? Are they wearing WWII-era uniforms?

167, It's The Middleman. It's a sci-fi, adventure comedy that is currently running on Monday nights on ABCFamily.

It's a pop cultured laced hoot. If you are a sci-fi fan at all you should really give it a try.

Here are a few clips;

Oh, yeah, to say the least, I am a fan.

150. That needs to happen. Because it would be so hot.

165. What about Beauty and the Beast. Everyone knows that it's an old story. What's the deal with the book?

167. Don't ever watch it. The acting is horrible, and I wish my sister had never stopped on that channel.

173. Some of us outside of Europe do know, and I'm kinda offended you think just because fanbrats compare the two that no one outside of that continent understands. The majority of the population is ignorant, and they won't learn the facts because they don't want to. So they'll take the extremely summarized versions they get and don't let go.

On top of that, look at the Death Note fandom. Most of them think they're intelligent because they read or watch it, but how many intelligent conversations have you seen spawned by it? Very few. I've seen them gush about OTPs more than Light's philosophy, really.

173

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Death Note has just finished airing on TV where I live, and I haven't seen any gushings about OTPs here - only 13-17 year-olds gushing about how LIGHT IS RIGHT OMG AND IF YOU DISAGREE YOU'RE A WUSS MAN I'M SO HARDCORE.
