Ken/Miyako and the crappiness of the finale aside, I wonder if we ever specifically learned anything about Miyako's dreams and aspirations that would contradict her wanting to start a family and focus on home life. It's possible I'm not remembering things correctly - wow, Digimon - but it seems to me you're making a lot of assumptions about a person's purported personality and what they ultimately want out of life. Giving up her life? There is no career requirement for someone to be kickass, not unless you count "not taking shit from anyone."

124. I disagree. Tidus and Cloud are really difficult to compare because they're so different, honestly (and, um, whiny emo bitching? Cloud didn't whine or bitch about his circumstances at all in-game). Also, Seymour better than Sephiroth? Honestly, neither of them were great villains, but I just found Seymour boring. At least Sephiroth had the shock value in there to make him interesting -- burning down Nibelheim, murdering Aeris... Seymour's massacre of the Ronso was, by comparison, little more than a footnote.

145. Am I the only person who didn't hate the 02 finale? ...okay, just checking. Maybe I didn't hate it because I commit the ultimate Digimon sin and actually ship Sorato. (I've shipped it since 01, thank you very much and I still childishly maintain that the main reason Taiora is so popular is because it's a main guy/main girl ship)

And just because Miyako is a mom she gave up her dreams? Ever consider that maybe her dreams changed, or maybe that she achieved them or is still pursuing them at that point in her life? Is there some requirement saying that you have to give up everything in life to become a mom? 'Cause I don't think so. What's stopping Miyako from getting everything she wanted as a kid, plus having a family? Her childhood ambitions and having a family aren't mutually exclusive concepts, believe it or not.

Oh, I forgot. Moms can't be kickass because they're not out there oppressing the big evil man.

146. I, for one, am tired of the splinter communities. All the fandom secrets being submitted to one place is what makes this community so big, which is in turn what makes it so fun. (And also, you know, sort of helps with the whole "anonymity" thing.)

Next to Luna, Tonks was probably my favourite new character in OP. In fact she was probably my favourite character of the whole series at that point... then HBP came out and it was like she'd had a personality change. I was a Remus/Sirius but I would have liked Remus/Tonks relationship if it had been written like he deserved to have her love.

Way to show how even the spunkiest woman needs a man to make her happy, JK!

The constant raising of these issues in fandom is absolutely necessary. It's vital that people are exposed to them as much as possible so they can become desensitized. Once you've read about eleventy billion "MARTHA SUCKS BECAUSE THE RITERS ARE RACIST!!!!" threads, you'll be able to see a black guy get beaten up in broad daylight and just go "meh, not my problem".
