The most I ever managed was a crossover fic for S&S and Life on Mars, written purely for the lulz...I've always wanted to resolve that cliffhanger myself but don't have the balls to do it, frankly...

[identity profile] wofl-iron.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
112. - Join the club. ;p

115. - lol. Touche. I watched the movie and it was good, but yeah, it is a TOTAL emofest. And kind of makes you want to slit your wrists at the end, so I think that's a valid reason not to watch it, if that's not your thing. Similarly, I refuse to watch Clueless and assorted other movies that, according to some I *OMG* HAVE to see.

134. - ...the fuck??

157. - Now I'm morbidly curious to see what the reviews say. Because anyone who hacks up the deeper, more profound and beautiful story that is that movie to nit-pick political correctness CLEARLY missed the clue bus.

Basically that taking potshots at Manifest Destiny and portraying Natives as sympathetic is apparently oh so horribly PC can't we have moar cowboys'n'injuns etc.

My best friend told me she met a girl who came to Japan, loved anime and manga and BL and stuff, and never left her college.

Despite the fact she lived MAYBE a half an hour from used doujinshi and book shops, and all sorts of awesome capsule toys and stuff.

Ahhh, I dunno WHY she came to Japan, really. Madness. Hiding in your room like that, when the things you want are so close by! Bet she saved her money that way though. . .

Supposedly he got between the Xena/Gabby ghey too much and it pissed people off.

Seriously, I think that whole love triangle was tragically sweet. I bawled like nobody's business when they killed him off. I pretty much lost interest in the show altogether afterwards.

Screw the fandom, he's awesome <3

151!

(Anonymous) 2008-07-25 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHA OH GOD. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH OP. He was at the last con I went to (Connecticon), and my friends and I saw him, so we waited in line before knowing what the line was for. We just figured it was for signatures or whatnot, and my friend was like "He dubbed my favorite character from FullMetal Alchemist!" and I was like "He's going to dub Fai! I wonder how he's gonna talk religiously about that!" We ended up in church with him preaching us. It was horrible. We stood up about half way through, even though we were near the front of the audience, and left. I didn't want to pop his bubble by being all "HOMG THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS GOD!!!!1", but I really couldn't care any less about God.

Now I wish I could have gone with you, so I could have been there for both the wank and the look on Vic's face.

Re: 151

[identity profile] scientivity.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Why did you go into the church if you didn't want to listen to a talk about God? That's usually what happens in churches.

I realize that I might be asking for it in saying this...even though they are fictional characters...

damn...that is really really cold hearted.

Re: 141

(Anonymous) 2008-07-26 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
what's really cold hearted is Tim Buckley posting that callous, absolutely ridiculously shoe-horned in excuse for a plotline - and then, before anyone had a chance to email him to complain, posting a rant that amounted to 'I DON'T WANT YOU TO BITCH AT ME FOR DOING THIS. IRL my girlfriend had a miscarriage. Sure, she was a bitch and it wouldn't have worked anyway, but I UNDERSTAND MISCARRIAGES, OK. Not everyone hangs around being sacks of tears for ever, so don't worry, the painfully mediocre humour will return soon!'

[identity profile] pavonine.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
101. Dunno the comm you're talking about, but isn't the point of having moderated submissions to weed out badfic, or do you guys moderate your submissions for another reason?

108. Guy on right = Billie Piper.

110. Pokémon has the power.

115. If you're still bothered by it, read the short story. And not all slashers need to have seen the movie--it's not a rite of passage.

117. About the main pairing thing: but it's just so canon, with just enough not-canon space to write fic about.

And as for smaller: I've always thought it was a small fandom, however active it may be. Also, way to shaft us under-twenties, some who have fond memories of the show from childhood. I thought most people were against the whole "age-in-fandom" business. :-(

126. Rachel McAdams! HI RACHEL

130. I do the same thing. Or I used to. I'm trying not to anymore. I find humorfic pointing out everyone's flaws is much more bearable than a scathing review.

134. If you're going to make a secret about obscure fic, your chances of getting a comment decrease. But why are you so bothered by it? Shouldn't you use F!S to get the pressure of a secret off your chest and not to see what others thought?

136. You and #123 need to have a nice, long talk.

146. :-D Depeche Mode. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

149. You and everyone else.

152. The support group's down the hall, on your left.

154. ... Google them?

156. What if they don't ship it, but ship several other slash pairings?

161. Media fandom is, yeah. It's called fandom, though--as in people who are fans of something, or enjoy something to a high degree. Furries are fans of all things furry-related, so they get their own fandom.

180. I don't think Two Face actually died. I dunno; check a forum or a comm for that.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-25 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
115. so the short story has a happier ending?

asked rhetorically. if the movie was an angstfest, how would the short story be any better?

113. Dude, that is one of the images for a possible prompt on my upcoming art history final. Never would've thought I'd see it here in a million years. XD

142. I like Suzaku. :(

(Anonymous) 2008-07-25 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
172. I wouldn't say I hate him, but I find him (along with most other slapstick/stereotypically "stupid" characters) pretty annoying.

[identity profile] honestys-easy.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
112. It helps to know that any female that's connected to him (or Dean, for that matter) on the show OR off either becomes evil, gets killed, or both - really puts that crush into perspective.

115. I liked BBM, but I feel the same way about Dorian Gray - as a slash fan I feel like I'm SUPPOSED to read it a million times and love it and know the whole thing inside out. I read it once and thought it was awfully boring. :-\ Basically, do what you want! Canon slash, or any slash, or any canon, is only good if you're actually interested in it.

121. That's because it's imbued with the awesome that is NPH! Welcome to the NPH/Whedon 'verse: the nexus of Awesome. ;D

123, meet 136. You guys should go to a con together!

145. LOL, not nearly as embarrassing as you'd think.

153. I've never watched more than 90 seconds of the HSM movies but just from my flist I know that they're the real OTP of the series.

156. Murr? Fandom plz?

164. ACK seriously?! BRB losing my shit. XD (Also, I'm a teensy bit afraid to re-watch early seasons of Boy Meets World because I might start shipping them and I have issues with soiling my childhood.)

143. It's a really hard accent to do :\

148. Is this like Kids in the Hall week? Not that I don't love the secrets, they're fabulous.

162. TRUFAX? I didn't know they were vegetarians. That's kinda lame to be a vegetarian & not even believe in it though :(

168. HIS CUTENESS RADIATES THROUGH TIME. I ♥ that movie~~~

This comm needs more KITH secrets. More secrets about non-anime, non-Doctor Who, non-Twilight, non-Supernatural, etc etc.

142. Me too! But then again, I love pretty much everyone in that series (except maybe Charles and V.v.; social Darwinists piss me off big time). Suzaku seems like one of the few characters who actually has, I dunno, ethics, even if he does sometimes stray from his chosen path. But that's because he's human and not a Gary Stu, unlike so many other characters who share his qualities (*cough*kirayamato*cough*).

148, 170, 172.

148~ Mark is making the sexiest face ever in that picture.

157. Now I want to see that movie again. :(

115. FUCK YES. I want fun gay, not angsty oppressed romance glop.

128. God, that movie had far too much sexual tension for a film where two out of three of the major characters are underage.

131. Me too, a good bit of the time.

157. They're wanking about the horses being too smart...in a cartoon...about horses. What the crap.

109. Uh, they might be obscure now or something, but mate, when they were airing, they were...pretty friggin popular.
120. Pffff, are you seriously that surprised? Most people who go want to see the the shrines, eat the food, try out a different culture ect. Everyone who went on our school's exchange program with me to Japan never knew that anime exsisted outside of Pokemon/Sailor Moon/DBZ.

129. D: I hope that game has Courage too.

131. It depends on the episode, but sometimes the inbetween skits ARE better than the riffing.

147. Agreed. Despite how generally kind of stupid it was, Shadow The Hedgehog was just plain freaking fun.

161. I somewhat agree, I think Furrism is more of a lifestyle than a fandom. Though sometimes there's a fine line between those two.

162. Daft Punk are vegetarian? o3o

179. The Watchmen trailer WAS better than the movie. D:

"161. I somewhat agree, I think Furrism is more of a lifestyle than a fandom. Though sometimes there's a fine line between those two."

It differs from person to person. Some turn it into a lifestyle, while most see it as just some sort of hobby, or fandom.

136: It squicks me because they're real people you're slashing, not fictional ones. To me there's no difference between slashing two actors or musicians and slashing two of your classmates. Secretly thinking, "Oh hey, they'd be cute together," is fine, everyone does that, but standing up and proclaiming it to the world and squeeing every time they touch has got to be weird for them.

And it's not just how they would feel about it, it's also that you're clinging to and following the romantic lives of real people, and I hate how star-crossed our culture has become. People who pretend to be other people are worshiped, and that bothers me as well. They're just people like you and me. Your male friend wouldn't like you pairing him up with every guy he gets along with, so don't do it to male actors either.

180: Do you reeeeeeeeally think he and Rachel died? Two-Face is one of the most prominent villains in the Batman-verse, and hey, someone's got to be Catwoman. 8)
