A revitalization of book fandoms would be good... but how about an overall higher standard with regards to grammar, syntax and spelling in fanfic as well? Honestly, the joy of reading an otherwise great fanfic can be completely destroyed if the author doesn't know the difference between there, their and they're (or much and many, for that matter).

I can speak for myself, so I will: I think I know the difference between good writing on the Internets and bad, and I tend to gravitate towards the good. I've read novel-length fanfic and learned so much from it--about writing, about relationships, about human emotions and how complex everything is. Nadia in the article cannot be used to represent everyone who reads fic. It's a disgrace to those who read and write better work.

Bah. Fuck negative opinions of fanfiction. Clearly they read the wrong fic. While your secret and the article has a point, definitely, it leaves those of us who don't read badfic (I'm certainly not the only one) in the cold.

I actually didn't take the article to be generalizing-- it just seemed to me to represent a disturbing trend in, if not the majority (and certainly not all) then at least a significant portion of fandom. Honestly, the number of well-phrased and intelligent responses I've seen to the secret so far have done a lot to reassure me. (Three cheers for good fic; may the lost and grammarless find it!)

Fails for implying P3 is actually representative of the Megaten series.

If you're going to bitch about a game, bawww about that, and don't include the rest of the series, (which I'm assuming you haven't played).
