106. IAWTC. I know when I finally get the chance to see the movie, I'll leave the theater going ":| Hm. It wasn't as great as everyone said. Ew." and that's disappointing to me. Oh well.

134. alksdjfawoiesdGINTAMA. I agree that it does shounen without being formulaic, and that it's got the brilliant capacity to make you laugh and cry, but I really don't want the fandom to be big. *shrugs* I like the niche appeal, and the last thing anyone needs is fantards running Gintama jokes into the pavement. *shrugs*

152. I like Persona 3 but Aigis was SUCH a KOS-MOS rip off.

Re: 152

(Anonymous) 2008-08-04 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, because KOS-MOS was the very first "robot wants to discover emotion" character, ever.

I do think gamers and comic geek (well, any fiction geeks) think about this stuff a lot more. But I wouldn't really know, since I don't really socialize outside my gaming group. Anyway...

While Joker didn't invent chaotic evil, he showed how awesome chaotic evil can be. DMs and players should take note. I would love it if more demons were played this way-as far as I'm concerned, the Joker is a demon. Most of the time chaotic evil is played as chaotic stupid with fetish and knife.

163. But Christian Bale as Howl pales compared to his sexy Japanese voice!! And I'm not saying that to be weeaboo, I honestly think Bale's Howl sounds like he has lung cancer. T^T

I love the movie, but book >>>>>>>>>>> movie.

how about YOU stfu

(Anonymous) 2008-08-04 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
101. You shouldn't. They both were amazing. Heath being dead shouldn't make a difference when it comes to performances.

102. OMG ILU. I love that movie to bits and what's so great about it is the realistic characters and their relationship. I'm generally nothing like she is (loud, brash, adventurous) but I definitely saw something in her inside myself as well (dependent and independent, feeling-sharing, etc.). You just made my day.
ps. Use different font color next time? Okay. :D

103. Don't know what your secret means, and I liked the movie (have you heard of satire, by any chance?). So...kay.

106. Stay away from most of the fandom? I loved the movie though. I think it's praise-worthy. So sorry?

108. Hahaha. :D Good for you.

112. Yeah, they aren't new concepts. Hmm. Idk, maybe they never read/watched anything with those themes in it before?

114. EXCEL<3 YAY.

115. Ew.

118. Yes. While I agreed with the orignal secret as well, it's kind of like the "WELL AT LEAST THEY ARE READING" argument thrown at the Twilight series. Yeah, they are reading...but all they will want to read is shitty romance novels with crappy relationship dynamics. Higher-level reading and thought-provoking novels are what we should be ultimately striving for, right? I mean, yeah, you can indulge in your silly "bad" books...but when are people going to, you know, THINK along with reading a book?

126. Agreed.

135. I feel for you. I'm sorry. *hugs*

137. Oh hell no -- I LOVE SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! I'm 18 too. :D My favorites are the grammar ones! <3

138. JUST THE COVER OF THAT BOOK MAKES ME CRINGE AND LOL AT THE SAME TIME, OH GOD

145. How 'bout both? Fuck, why doesn't everyone in the whole damn movie have a big orgy?!

152. Uh, never even heard of the series.

153. I find this secret so terribly cute. =]

154. Uh...well you sound like a bitch. :x

158. I'm sure it's out there. xD

163. AIOJFAOSIJFODSIFS ARE YOU ME?! SERIOUSLY. SERIOUSLY. GOD I AGREE SO HARD, EVERY, SINGLE WORD, AFDOIAJFSODFJIDSOFIAS. SO. MUCH. FUCKING. WORD!! The animation is gorgeous but Miyazaki MANGLED the book. He ripped that beautiful book to shreds! Holy shit, I'm freaking out that I'm not the only one who thinks this. I...I just---aofijsdfjsofsdj. I love you so much secret maker! ♥
BEST SECRET I'VE EVER READ!

165. *shudders* Really...seriously scary.

168. UGH. I HATE VILLE AND HIS DUMB BAND. ): Sorry secret maker, personal opinion: His music really sucks. There's not a single good thing about it. Ughhh.

176. ROFLROFL OMG. AHAHAHAHAHA. That's wonderful. Keep them coming folks! More strategies for reading Twilight with a sane mind!

N!S #2 I loved both movies, probably equally. People, come on - why is it always the case of "either/or"?

130. WORD. You know it's going to end badly, but you just can't. help. yourself.

162. You're not the only one. Apparently, people have told Pterry that they hope his Death is the real one.

148

[identity profile] lunarkitten.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
You aren't the only one. I love original characters and tolerate Mary Sues up to a point. I can't say the same for self-inserts though.

[identity profile] emobus.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
103. You keep this a secret? Or do you just want to bash Borat? :P

[identity profile] midnight-birth.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
103. You know, Russian is my native language, and the first time I saw it I read it like that too. Except of course I knew it wasn't meant like that, so why pronounce it like that? In truth, I know a lot of people who think it's stupid. But it has so much depth a lot of people don't expect from something like this. I admire Sasha greatly for at the very least the awareness he's managed to bring forth with something innocent-looking enough that people bother to listen.

106. I wish you would STFU, in truth. Something new came out. Something that is wonderful and has a huge following. Some time will pass and everyone will have seen it and discussed it, and the heat around it will cool off. The hell is wrong with talking about popular things we like? *shakes head*

112. I don't agree. Or, rather, I haven't encountered what you're talking about. It's not about "Omg it's never been done before!!" It's about, as you yourself agree, "It's never been done LIKE THIS before." Creativity is not necessarily inventing something NEVER heard or seen before. At this stage in human existence, that's pretty damn hard to do. It's more taking something mundane, overdone, done before in the very least, and doing it differently. That's enough to be excited about.

130. I agree. Watchmen is worth reading. Do please. But I wouldn't judge you. The way they showed him in the trailer and his VOICE made me a little wet. ;)

141. I always despised Harley, heh. I always thought she didn't belong in the fandom, because she was only introduced in the animated series. And I could never see her with Joker, either. She was too clingy and obsessed with him.

157. She better have realized it.. :S He wasn't the Doctor, really. She KNEW this. Two little words she knew the Doctor meant but couldn't say made all the difference? Please.

158. Heh. Even with the Joker, it's so tough to imagine any sort of crack. He's not crack!crazy. The series is just VERY dark. Hard to be anything but serious.

172. The word "best" is very general. For a lot of people best =/= most evil. Sephiroth had some kind of magnetism. There have been villains more atrocious and more heartless than him, yes, but that's not the only thing that draws people to villains.

176. I don't even know HOW I got through this book. Probably because I work in a book store, and I want to be able to back up my opinions in an educated way when customers ask why they shouldn't buy this book.

172 OP, by the way

(Anonymous) 2008-08-04 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
I somehow doubt you meant 172, and I maintain that you were instead referring to 171. I never said that Raskolnikov was better than Sephiroth, though he may have - almost certainly, in fact - be a lot less pixelated.

Pfft no way that Zach tops...all about the Ramamurthy.

And yeah Zach is gay, he doesn't need some coming out ceremony to prove it. It is what it is.

Re: 167

(Anonymous) 2008-08-04 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He should have a coming out ceremony. If he's trying to hide it, he's apparently not doing a very good job, seeing as though every person who's ever laid eyes on him seems to be utterly convinced that he likes cock.

Then again, if this comment is anything to go by, some of you also seem to have the idea/fantasy that Sendhil likes cock, even though the dude's married with a kid. Hmmm.

172. OMG, A DOSTOYEVSKY SECRET? AND A ONE ABOUT RASKOLNIKOV, NO LESS?

YOU HAVE JUST MADE MY NIGHT. [/sorry for the caps, I'm a fangirl for this kind of stuff, I can't help it]

I wouldn't worry too much about relating to Raskolnikov...he wasn't a completely bad person-misguided and a megalomaniac, but D. gives us some reasons why he's doing what he does and shows that he does have the capacity for compassion...Besides, there are worse people you can relate to, yes?

And heck yes to Raskolnikov/Razumikhin. Have you read that one lonely R/R fanfic yet?

176. OMG, the Governator is a sparkly vampire. :O What an awesomely weird mental image.

Re: 172, 176

You mean the only one in existance? Why yes, yes I have. (There really needs to be more active fandom. Not too much, but a little more would be nice? Death Note pales in comparison, yet its fandom is, albeit somewhat abstractly, the size of Russia.)
