I'd play it. I've written fic of her paired with Phoenix, Edgeworth, both of them (oh, PIE, how I adore thee), Lana, Adrian, even Dahlia. ...I think that's it. Iris love <3.

<3

I've written her with Lana, Adrian and Dahlia, and I've written PIE totally coined the ship name

While daydreaming about the idea, I was thinking of endings for Phoenix, Edgeworth, Larry, Lana, Adrian, possibly Franziska, and then super-secret PIE and twincest endings. Might be a fun project over the school year...

^And appropriate icon is appropriate. <3

The first time I saw the show, I came in half-way through a rerun on SciFi, and it was the scene where he was explaining to her that they look different to everybody else. Immediately, I thought to myself, "Dear God, I hope they end up together."

I haven't stopped shipping it, and I feel gross sometimes. But yeah. I'm with you.

108 I have the boxset, and I watched it like four years ago, or whenever it was fairly new. But unlike all the other female fans I never shipped it. The fact that there's slash for this series just seems wrong.

120 Dustin Hoffman FTW!

127 LOL

142 Well, thanks to Legend of Galactic Heroes I no longer have a social life. And whenever I do have to leave the house to spend time with someone, all I can think about is that fucking show, and how much I want to watch the next episode when I get home.
I'm not always like this, though, just some of the time. When I'm manic, basically.

148 It is inspiring in the sense that a single person could make their own story be heard, but actually, I don't think Shinkai is a bad artist. He's just bad at drawing people. He works wonder with color in a way few others in animation do these days, he does wonderful landscapes/backgrounds, and he's not bad at mechanical design. He just needs to work with a seperate character designer.
And for an example of something of his that looks a lot better and also tells a great love story, watch 5 Centimeters Per Second.

155 LOL, I do that too. Or rather, I quote extremely terrible movies nobody has ever seen. I'm not sure if my motives are the same, I think I just do it more as an in-joke around people who know me.

165 This has to be a joke

167 What a shallow reason to be pro-homosexual rights.

174 Gross.

[identity profile] foofighter0234.livejournal.com 2008-09-01 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
108. The miniseries is based off of a book. I say "based off of" because the writers took many creative liberties in portraying the characters these men were based off of.

165. ...what? Aside from the fact that it's only a magical fictional version of a real place . . . racist secret is racist, much?

167. The church will get with the century eventually. (Of course, it may not be until the next century, but still.)

181. Of course you are. Seriously, have you seen some of the canon companions?

187. ...I did not realize it until just now, but apparently I do too.

147

[identity profile] muse-mistress.livejournal.com 2008-09-01 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think the point of the books is to make it exactly like the real world, and I don't think it is completely different. Especially with Pullman - I think his point is more to use extremes to point out the flaws/negative aspects/whatever in religion. And the daemons help symbolize the loss of innocence/growing up aspect, because he wants to show it as being a good thing, rather than a bad. It's also not just inspired by religion, but based on Paradise Lost. And to people who truly believe in God, I'd say to them God has just as definite an existence to them as he does in the books.

Hopefully that's not too incoherent...and I of course respect the OP's opinion, but just wanted to add my thoughts ><

147 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-09-01 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, my point was more that the things that are different often completely change the nature of some crucial point about the religion of the books vs. the religion of the real world. There is vague criticism against some Christian teachings, such as the idea of love/sex being a bad thing, that can be read from it, but any attempt to draw a moral from the books that actually criticizes belief in God or even Christianity or Catholicism as a whole trips over the nature of the setting. How can anyone seriously think these books tell them anything about how reasonable or unreasonable it is to believe God exists? How does the nature of God in this very fictional fantasy series say anything meaningful about the nature of God if he existed in the real world? And even the idea that 'original sin' is good falls flat because in the books, the reason it is good involves a fictional substance and saving parallel worlds. As far as I can remember, anyway, there wasn't really any moralistic or otherwise applicable to our world reasoning for it. Correct me if I'm remembering it wrong.
