106. Well, since you seem to be speaking in general, I guess standard rant about female character designs in games(tm) doesn't apply here. I'll tell you what, I don't identify with most protagonists in games (possible exceptions for Harry and Henry in the Silent Hill games), but that still doesn't keep me from enjoying the games. And that's not even going into the whole gender thing (unlike you, I do have gender issues I'm, if not open, at least vocal about IRL). A lot of the games we call RPGs today aren't about being the main character anyway. Most of us probably have a FF hero(ine) that makes us want to facepalm repeatedly and yell "stupid" at the TV screen, but even so we can enjoy the games.

I really would like moderators IN the fandom for the main communities? yes.

But please, stop. How could you be out of it and hate the person in? If you are out (which means that you don't read the posts, the discussions, the fan fictions, etc...) you could not know all the wonderful persons who came after you left. All the great discussion! The masterpieces written.

What is so different between now and then (2003-2004 I suppose)?

I tried out the newer fandom for half a year and couldn't take it. This isn't a judgment based on not having tried to be active in the new fandom.

What was different then? It seems for a number of fans now to be all about the relative attractness of these people and the ability to slash them. There wasn't much fanfic back then, and I really liked that about the fandom. I've been in fandoms with fic, and I have nothing against fic, but when BoB fandom started, when some of the soldiers actively read our posts and commented on them, I can't imagine how they would have reacted to the slash, the fan art.

And then there are the "historians" I've encountered in the new fandom, the ones who swear they know every detail of the book, the film, and general war history, but don't even know that Camp Toccoa is in Georgia. I don't think you need to be a history buff to enjoy Band of Brothers, but it is bullshit to act superior about your knowledge when you're wrong half the time.

Perhaps I'm wrong to be so general about people. I don't imagine that I would hate everyone in the new fandom. My experiences with the people I have met completely turned me off to ever being a part of it again.

The other communities I am involved in are small and are strict with its members. I use to have fun with them, but now people don't care about them and the quality of writing has declined some.

I've also dreaded being on a hiatus or missing a thread as members seem to take it personal or quickly get annoyed. It is so tiring to feel like I have to force myself to post, even if RL keeps me busy for a little while.

With AP I don't get that. I missed a few weeks unexpectedly from all the comms I am currently in and the members of AP were all understanding. I didn't get that from my other communities, save for one or two people.

Other communities that I have looked at seems to have too much drama, too much baggage, or too large for my taste.

So I am sorry if you had a bad experience, but instead of ragging on me about it. . .why not make some suggestions of "superior" communities that you enjoy? :3

They're the only thing I ever shipped in the movies! Especially during the scene at Bobby's parents house in X2, which is basically the gayest non-gay scene ever, all in subtext and metaphors. It's beautiful <3

Also, Pyro is hawt!

It was meant to be the gayest non-gay scene in the movie (and possibly ever), and I agree with the scene being especially 'shippy. Sure, John has daddy issues anyway, but it's especially great that he came to Bobby's defense.
