The outrage over the Catherine re-release is so tiresome because everyone complaining about it hasn't even played the game and is relying on biased second hand accounts to form their opinion. I guess that's just the norm now.

The Dragon Prince made me realize how bored I am of bog standard fantasy settings. Please no more kingdoms, elves, and basic magic systems. Anything else. The thinly veiled messages of the day don't help either, but I don't remember Avatar being this bad about it.

Played Catherine through to all of the endings, still annoyed by the new Erica stuff and the Rin stuff. It's such a good game, but I hate that it's marred by this stuff-- I felt that way about what they did to Erica in the original too. It just breaks my heart. It's a punchline that doesn't need to exist, it doesn't do anything for the story, it's pointless and kind of cruel.

RL secret here: I find a lot of depression/anxiety talk on Facebook enabling. It's not okay that you haven't gotten out of bed for a week. It's not okay that you've accepted life has no meaning and you're going to die anyway. Posts like that when I was going through a depressive period made things so much worse.

I didn't get the Harry Potter fandom's fascination with Draco in 2003, and I don't get it now. He has more in common with Eric Trump than that emo garage band you liked in high school.

I like Draco but I fully admit that if he was always going to be semi-sympathetic JKR took it a bit far with his literal sadism at times. I mean, we know why a kid under a lot of pressure would align himself with his family's terrible cause, but he doesn't have to clap gleefully over the idea of killing an innocent animal, etc.

If Overwatch gets a trans girl character, out of the current roster I'd hope it's Mei

She's cute and happy and relatable and not in a job or traditionally masculine position where she's making a statement like Zarya or Ashe. And not already blatantly androgynous like Moira. And not one of the conventionally lithe and sexy female characters, 'cause I'm real tired of the super sexy pornstar dickgirl trope. Or ~wacky~ in any way like Junkrat, 'cause making the potential trans character have those kinds of mental issues would be a yikes wow unfortunate implication...

I really like the idea of a trans girl character that is just... friendly and harmless (to most people) and adorable and would be your nerdy science buddy and her gender has nothing to do with anything.

I think fangirls who are obsessed with m-preg- usually with the pregnant partner of the stereotypically effeminate "uke" variety- should just get over their internalized misogyny already and start shipping the het ships they obviously want but don't have the guts to admit.

I know astrology is total bullshit, but those “Find Your Sign” lists that use characters with canon birthdays really bother me when the signs don’t match up. If Dean’s birthday is on January 24, then his sign is Aquarius, not Scorpio.

The fact that the Hux/Kylo fandom has just accepted that Hux has a cat named Millicent is ruining the fandom for me. Why would a Star Wars character have an Earth animal? This is stupid, and it is not canon.

Let's pull a good old Gundam Seed Destiny secret out:

I know everyone and their hamsters shipped Athrun and Cagalli and was all mad about what Destiny did to them and while I agree that Destiny was obviously worse than Seed, that was the one thing that didn't bother me at all. The only people I ever shipped Athrun with are Kira and Meyrin.
(Regardless of the shipping drama, I'm disgusted by how fandom treated Meyrin.)

Years ago there used to be this person in my fandom who felt they had to run everything. They could never let anything go and they were always pushing their opinions and ships on everyone. As far as I know they've been out of fandom for years but I'm still afraid to express opinions about that fandom in public just in case they're out there somewhere.

Not sure what it says about me or my childhood, but I never thought Kevin (Home Alone) was treated that badly as a kid. I knew he wasn't treated well, but now that I'm older I really don't know what I was thinking back then...

I've heard good things about My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness and I'm sure it's a great piece of work. I would have bought it immediately if I hadn't been so put off by the couple of pages from it that someone posted. In them, the author (it's an autobiography) is shown pictures of a naked man and feels no sexual attraction. And that's supposed to be a "lesbian experience."

I hate, hate the implication that if you're attracted to a gender, you're attracted to everyone who is that gender so if you see a sexy image of one and are not attracted, you are not into the entire gender. I'm bisexual, and most pictures of naked men and women do nothing for me. My bitter takeaway from those pages was, "Author, get over yourself, you're not as much of a special little Not Like Those Slutty Non-Lesbian Girls Who Get Wet Over Every Dick They See as you think."

I have elaborate fantasies about making YouTube video essays about my favorite works of media. I wish the things I had to say were well thought out interesting analysis- but I know I’m not smart enough, and I’m not good at performing either, so it’s a dumb fantasy. I just want people to care about my opinions.
