104. Okay. One, I do agree that rape, when written realistically, is not hot. I also think that a lot of fics that people might label "non-con" would probably better go under "dub-con," which is NOT actually rape, but maybe that's just me.

Two, as someone who has been through shit like that before, maybe YOU should show some sensitivity to the fact that, you know, someone enjoying to read FICTION of something DOES NOT DESERVE IT TO HAPPEN TO THEM IN REAL LIFE. Glad you'd never really wish that trauma on someone, but your overreaction is still that: an overreaction.

Three, it's hardly just fandom. Take a look: rape fantasies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_fantasy) are a kink, and they're not even an uncommon kink. And such fantasizing has nothing to do with an individual's opionions, thoughts, or inclinations towards actual rape. So calm down, learn to better seperate fact and fantasy, and move on.

105. Originally, when the last episode came on TV, we taped it so we wouldn't miss it. Not even knowing how it would end, as soon as Spike kicked that grenade through the doors, I somehow realized it and started bawling. We had to pause the tape until I calmed down because I couldn't see a thing. XD; Also, in that picture, cute Ed is cute.

No shit it's an overreaction, I am well aware of that. That's why I feel guilty for thinking that way afterwards.

And I am aware that it is a kink. However, there is a HUGE difference between fantisizing or writing about being dominated sexually and RAPE.

And finally, is it really so much to ask that one's friends not get all butthurt about being told "I really don't like talking about that fic/kink/pairing, it makes me uncomfortable?"

I don't mind that other people don't ship it - I'd have to have a pretty big stick up my ass to mind people shipping different than me - but sometimes I doubt myself about going forward in a fandom where most people only pay lip service to what seems to me to be the main OTP of the series. Then they say that it's the most popular het pairing, and maybe the lj comm has more members, but they don't seem to be DOING much...and Japanese fanartists definitely like Kanda/Lenalee and Lavi/Lenalee better...

It's silly to doubt yourself over a pairing, but that's why it's a secret, hey?

Also, you do/have done fanworks for the pairing! That makes me happy. My big complaint is that there aren't enough fanworks for Allen/Lenalee. :)

109. Regarding the ‘other pairing’, if you mean Renji/Rukia, it’s not a big deal. I shipped both and never got any flack. Of course, I was more in it for the fic and not the debates over which was more ‘canon’. If you mean Ichigo/Orihime, I can’t really speak to that part of fandom. I can’t stand Orihime and tend to avoid pairings and fic and pretty much anything that includes her, but that brings its own brand of fan fury in certain corners of Bleachdom. Of course since the Arrancar came and were so awesome, I’ve almost completely lost interest in what happens to Ichigo and the Shinigami.

160. I’m only 3 episodes into the series, but yes, he’s completely adorable.

163. She creeps me out. There’s something about her that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it’s just….creepy.

So am I. It's just that that particular type of fiction makes me uncomfortable. And WHERE in the secret did I say that EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER BEEN RAPED OR MOLESTED OR TOUCHED INAPPROPRIATELY AGREES WITH ME? For every survivor who is bothered by rapefic, I would not be surprised if there was at least one who likes it or is at least not bothered by it.

I'm not telling anyone what to like, I'm saying I'd appreciate if they wouldn't discuss that particular topic with me, or at least understand that if they do, my response will always be "I'm not comfortable talking about that, could we change the subject?"

Guess what? I LIKE reading fic about domination, bondage, and S&M, as long as the characters being written participating in those activities are consenting. What I have a problem with is fics where rape is portrayed as romantic.
