Show: The Kettering Incident. I think I found a Reddit thread on it once? I gather it got mixed reviews but I don't even run into people who didn't like it, just people who have never heard of it.

Movie: Dark Star. Back in the day it was well-known at science fiction conventions but "the day" was a long time ago now and I virtually never find anyone who's heard of it.

Persona 3. Everyone LOVES 4 and 5 is getting a decent following but 3 just seems to have never gained the same fandom even though the stakes are a lot higher in 3 than the other two, arguably.

(I still need to beat 5 if that matters tho)

there were two shows I was OBSESSED with as a kid, Tomfoolery and the Curiosity Shop, that no one but me remembers and they don't exist on DVD. I could only find one very short clip of each on youtube and the Curiosity Shop one was mostly opening credits. :(

Nobody around me knows about the Canadian "western" Bordertown from the late 90s. fuckin loved that show. Loved the Mountie especially. wish I could find it somewhere.

I vote no. Including single streams like that either punishes people who can't afford them or don't live in the "right" country. Or it encourages pirating which isn't something everyone is ok with and is actually a big deal in some places.

Something worth considering: the votes here may in theory win yes by 51%, but every "no" here is likely someone who does not have HBO Go and isn't willing to buy it to watch one movie. So there's at least 3-4 people already that probably won't participate if an HBO Go movie is selected.

A better question is: is the group willing to allow nominations that half the group won't watch?

Rather than a strict vote-based yes or no, I'd be more inclined to suggest that movies be easy to legally watch or purchase as much as possible, if that makes sense? It's not a big group of people that watches and while piracy is always an option, I don't think asking people to do something that is technically illegal for the sake of participating is an ideal situation for a movie discussion group. Of course what people do in their own time is another issue.

So it's sort of a tentative not QUITE no but not quite yes either, more of a 'well I'd be more inclined to support or prefer movies that are accessible'.

Movie Nominations!

It is time for Movie Club nominations!

Theme: Your nomination must include TWO of the following.
Setting: In The City.
Scenes: Something Is Created.
Characters: In Uniform.
Production: Title Is One Word.
Props: A Ring, A Glove, Or A Watch.

Rules (subject to change).
-One nomination per person.
-Must be available for for streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu!

Nominations will be open until Tuesday. Voting will be from Tuesday-Friday. The winner will be announced officially on Saturday*. We will discuss the movie June 1st.

And it's on Netflix.
