I've actually been rooting more for Dany in these last couple of episodes than I have for most of the series.

She joins Jon to fight the Night King and ends up losing Viserion, Mormont, and most of her people, and then Sansa and Arya are like, "Thanks for the help, but we don't want to carry our side of the bargain now."

Then there's the truth about Jon, who despite Dany's pleas tells Sansa, who tells Tyrion, who tells Varys, who tries to poison Dany after Cersei's forces kill Rhaegal and Missandei (but she's the bad guy for having the Spider executed).

At this point I'm not blaming Dany for going a little crazy and barbecuing King's Landing. She lost two of her children and two of her closest friends, and was rewarded with ungratefulness and betrayal.

I'm also not weeping for the people who called for Ned's head, turned on Tyrion, and empowered the High Sparrow's persecution of Loras and Margaery. Or for Cersei, who was offered a peaceful surrender by Dany and responded by decapitating her friend.

There's also the double standard with Jon being horrified by Dany, but has no problem allying himself with the wildlings after all of their rape and pillaging (i.e. Ollie's village, Mole's Town). The same goes for the fans who act like Dany's a monster now but love Tormund.

I find the worst part of season 8 is that I can kinda see how it was supposed to go. All the pieces are there but never bothered to be shown or portrayed as tragic. The character arcs are there but so badly done they might as well not have been.

I think this is me. I know what they were trying to do and I accept certain things were foreshadowed. But the way we got there was just epic disappointment as nothing seemed to be properly earned. I wish the last two seasons had been full length but I wonder if that would've even solved anything.

Also the series has obviously suffered since it ran out of source material (see Tyrion's dialogue as an example. Say what you want about GRRM's overall writing skills but his dialogue game is usually good. Having said that Tyrion does sod all in the fifth and probably final book really so idk.)

GRRM gave them the bullet points thinking they would fill in the gaps. Instead, they just used the bullet points.

And to make things worse those bullet points included characters that were cut from the show. It's blatantly obvious Cersei was gone at this point in the story.

Life for the average citizen in Westeros sucks (even more than life for real world middle age peasants sucked). They really have no idea and don't care about what is going on with the various noble houses and assortment of musical chair rulers. Doesn't make them to blame for what Cersei and co did even when they cheered.

Sansa and Arya did not make any kind of bargain. Jon did all of that on his own without consulting anyone.

Dany had no right telling Jon to hide his identity because she is feeling insecure.

All those women and children did nothing against her. But yeah, BBQ them up I guess. She could have flown straight to the Red Keep.

Not sure why you are comparing Jon allying with Wildlings to fight the dead vs Dany killing millions of people.

Because he's still buddy-buddy with Tormund, who participated in raids that killed innocent villagers.

And Sansa promised Jon she wouldn't tell anyone, then she did it anyway because she wanted to hurt Dany.

Since the finale I don't think I've ever seen so many people rooting for and excusing the murder of so many children.

I wonder if Dani made a case for raping all those kids instead of roasting them alive maybe we'd see a lot less tolerance of her blowing up King's Landing? After all, nothing makes people care about kids more than the possibility of handsy pedos. Nah, who am I kidding? People would find a way to justify it because Misogyny! Men can't handle women with power! Spoon!

Right, it's only okay when Tormund and his friends kill children.

Well, Tormund wasn't the leader of the Free Folk during those attacks. Mance was King-Beyond-the-Wall. Once the wildling army was defeated and their leader captured, he was executed by Stannis and Jon. You don't see Jon trying to go after Grey Worm after killing Dany even though he witnessed Grey Worm committing warcrimes firsthand. He even seemed to feel guilt toward Grey Worm for killing his beloved Queen.

So I don't think there's anything morally inconsistent in Jon's character there. In both cases, he punished King/Queen calling the shots and sought no retribution from their generals who followed their orders.

He only killed Mance as a mercy because he knew Mance was afraid of crying out from the flames and appearing weak in front of the others. he was previously trying to save him by getting him to submit to Stannis,
