I don't think there's anything ethically wrong with asking for donations (altho it's fair for AO3 to not want people to do it on their platform, that's not the place for it) and I don't think it's right or reasonable to report it. Just scroll by if you don't like it. People are out here trying to survive.

Me too! I've thought of making a video like the ones you mention just for fun but figured it's such a small/obscure fandom that there might not be much point.

Dystopian sci-fi is one of my faves but I do agree with you still because it does feel like we're at the point of exhaustion with it all. Even with that genre I still want a little escapism and it's hard to enjoy when it's too close to reality or reads like the creator is trying to make it too close to reality.

Also when it comes to books I find it hard to find something along those lines that satisfies me because 95% of the time it's YA. I am not against YA and have enjoyed plenty but there also seems to be a higher chance of reading absolute trash. In my experience anyway.
