I'm not a member, but my roomate has two fairly popular characters on there so I hear a ton about it and get called into the other room whenever something especially awesome is posted. Long story short: the people there seem incredibly nice and don't always request the deep level of involvement you fear in order to be a functioning member of the comm. You should go for it! ♥

153. How exactly does the character of Buffy express a non-feminist, narrow and sexist view of women? One of the things I loved about the show was how they had a varied cast of female characters, all with their own flaws and strengths. Buffy was strong and smart, but she also had her flaws, like anyone else. She wasn't my favorite character, but there's nothing "narrow" about her.

147. G Gundam is supposed to be an over-the-top send-up of old-school super robot series, and thus you're not supposed to take it seriously. But it's still awesome in its own right; I wouldn't have the whole show on DVD if I didn't.

151. And the difference between fictional anime/cartoon characters and fictional TV/movie/book characters is...what, exactly? No matter the medium, they're all fictional anyway, so why the hell does it matter?

But seriously, we already know he has no canon personality. I think the people who avidly insist he does are a bit strange. What I personally love are all the different interpretations fans lend to him in their writing/art and the fact that there is an unexplained abundance of it. Yes, aside from the smoking/gaming his personality is almost completely fan-made, but that's what makes it awesome.

n!s: I think, if that were to be happen, you’d be proven very wrong. It may be the characters are more complex than you give them credit for. If the story were written like a thirteen-year-old’s fantasy-indulging fanfic, then it would suck and I’d turn up my nose to it. But if it were written intelligently, with wit and a balance between comedy and drama, it could be gold. Don’t judge it before it’s even created… And please don’t judge it by fanfiction.

106 Really? I beg to differ about the writers, because often times, the fans think more about the characters' motivations and reasons for doing things than the writers ever would. The writer(s) in my fandoms have made canon slip-ups before--it's their JOB, not their hobby, so imo they're not quite as invested in it sometimes. The actors themselves have pointed out that they rarely know what episode they're shooting as it all runs together...

Besides, it's a stupid argument. If you can't see the difference between a world and a relationship, and the different ways they can affect each other and act independently of each other, you're missing the point big time, anyway.

156. This might be my favorite secret EVAR. I've always known Snake and Otacon had a special and yes, even beautiful relationship, but to think that it's helped you get over past prejudices? I don't see them being in a romantic or sexual relationship and it changing anything.

You and me both, anon. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic; 'cause the last thing I want is a living Sue. But everyone freaked out about Namine before CoM and she turned out fine, so perhaps the same thing will happen here, too.

I hope both Aqua and Xion will turn out good...I'd hate for them to be mary sues or become damsels in distress :( On another note, it appears that Maleficent will play a pretty big part in BbS, I've always had a soft spot for her as a villain in Kingdom Hearts :)
