What I don't get is why fanon pairing focus on 1-2 paired people when there are a dozen or so perfectly fine single people running around where you don't have to worry about explaining why A is cheating on/no longer with/has forgotten all about B...

(It is, of course, different when a person has had multiple love interests...then it's more "pick your favorite.")

Though i share your frustration with the "I know the character better than the writer" mindest, as well as its subling, "I know what the writer was really saying, even if the text says the complete opposite.

In a presentation for one of my classes, my topic was Van Gogh. One girl in my class asked me, "Do you think that Van Gogh and Gauguin were... maybe more than friends?" HA. It totally caught me off guard. And I said something like, "Uh, we don't know, but it's possible."

Haruka/Michiru is just so awesome that the dub couldn't hide it at all, at least that's how I feel. It's probably the only couple that I don't understand when people don't ship it. 106. I... think your message is a little unclear. Isn't it a good thing to stick to canon as best you can, even when you're changing the romantic aspect? Isn't it okay to write non-canon couples? And there are other potential plot threads than the one canon follows, that could be written completely in-character; there are even canon AUs in some works.

It is dumb when a fan says "gawd this is dumb here's how it really should have happened gaiz it's so much better" like that one Harmonian thing that rehashed Deathly Hallows with Harry/Hermione instead of Hermione/Ron. So if that's what you're going for, I agree.

107. I'm sorry; there really aren't a lot of butch/femme dynamics around in canon. I'm not a big fan, but I understand where you're coming from. The only butch/femme couple with a fan following I can think of offhand is Haruka/Michiru from Sailor Moon.

Also, that is a sexy, sexy picture.

143. It still amuses me that the dub tried to make it more "family friendly" by making them cousins instead of lovers and instead made them seem like incestuous lovers. :P
