Aside from Hosue's "boy wonder" oncologist line, Wilson is not shown to be a really good oncologist. In season 4, he gave a patient a misdiagnosis, in Skin Deep, he missed seeing a pair of testicles on (I think) an MRI scan, and in general he is seen as being a less great doctor than House.

101 - I kind of agree with you. For something that big to tear them apart, it took quite a short time to get them back together again. But... I guess in a way it's just the nature of their relationship. They can't really stay away from each other for too long, because they are just so co-dependent.

145 - You know what? No. I am not upset that my slash ship was destroyed by the epilogue. What I was disappointed in was that JKR took all these strong characters and turned them into happily-ever-after stereotypes. Take Hermione. A powerful, independent, intelligent woman who certainly does not stand for nonsense and clearly would do whatever it takes to follow her dreams. What we got in the epilogue was Hermione The Housewife. Um, yeah, way to ruin an excellent character! And RON! Working at his brother's joke shop?? Whatever happened to all that angst about how he was constantly in his family's shadow and wanted to make something of himself, to stand out from the crowd? And then JKR saddles him with the exact opposite - essentially taking the place of Fred? Sure, Ron probably felt a lot of guilt about his brother's death, but wouldn't it have been much better for the character (and shown how much he had grown over the years), if he finally stepped out of the grasp his family has held on him his entire life? Do what he really wanted to do? The message that JKR seems to be giving us here is unsettling - that your own dreams can wait, can be put on hold indefinitely, in order to conform to societal or familial expectations. I don't appreciate that in the least. And that doesn't even begin to touch on how much JKR glossed over the fact that THESE KIDS LIVED THROUGH A WAR. You simply cannot go through what they did and come out of it perfectly hunky-dory. It just does not happen. It would have given the series so much more depth and meaning if we'd been shown the true aftermath of the battle - if we'd seen the characters slowly picking up the pieces of their lives, their minds, bodies, and spirits. Instead we got the sugary, watered down kiddy ending.

Usually I keep my shipping brain (where John and Rodney are a couple and love each other and no one else! *handwaves the McKeller stuff*) and my canon brain (where they are straight BFFs and Rodney has a giant crush on Keller) running in parallel while I'm watching the show, but occasionally the two get slightly closer to meeting than normal, and when they do, I kind of end up agreeing with you. The John + Rodney scene from the beginning of Tracker, I find hard not to interpret like that. To the extent that I start wondering if Joe is playing it that way on purpose.

It breaks my heart a whole lot to imagine it that way, though, so I kinda try not to. D:
