I can relate. I honestly wanted to like it. I thought I would when I picked it up since all my friends loved it. But I just didnt.

I couldn't get more than a few chapters in the writing was so bad...

I'm the exact same way. I'm fifteen, the Harry Potter books have been a constant part of my life since I was six years old, and even when someone makes a perfectly valid criticism of them I bite their head of. Had a big argument with my English teacher over them last year :P.

161: With Crowley/Aziraphale sometimes I feel like it is the most obvious thing in the world and sometimes I feel like oh here is another example of fandom reading too much into things. I didn't really see slash the first time I read it, but I was definitely interested in the dynamic of their relationship right from the start. And it's still one of my favourite things to write, because I love history, and any cool historical situation can be made instantly better by the addition of Crowley or Aziraphale or both.

138: I do the same thing for my favorites. There are even a few that I have saved that aren't online anywhere anymore, and I couldn't be happier that I saved them. Of course, they have to be really really good and often epic length (and maybe hard to find crossovers...)

173: I love Twilight. I really do, but I'm not fangirly giggly over it (My pseudo-ex best friend of three years gave me a Twilight movie poster for Christmas and all I could think at the time was "Do you even know me a little bit anymore?"). I know there are plenty of other vampire books out there that deserve the attention. I loved "The Silver Kiss" ....or well.... it certainly tore at my heart more so than Twilight anyway. I think Klause did much better with "Alien Secrets" and "Blood and Chocolate" (the former as a fantastic children's intro into science-fiction, the latter as just a plain wonderful book)

As for new vampire novels, might I suggest "Cirque du Freak"? It is a bit childish, and there are quite a few "Who's The Fish" moments but it all fits in the slightly wacky world setting. I'd also suggest steering clear of "The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod".....just no No matter what my friend's sister says...

I've got more suggestions too, if you'd care to know them.

seriously. gabe saporta was already a musician before snakes on a plane and he was looking for the next big thing to do after midtown ended. the movie was sheer coincidence but it gave him the break he needed.
