112.) Thank you for bringing that up! I have a gay friend, who got weirdly fawned over at a convention. It came up in conversation that he was gay, and then these girls starting hitting him up with questions about having a boyfriend, what type of dick he likes, and then it went down hill. And he was like O_O and it's none of your business. They were insanely creepy. And he happens to dislike Yaoi, which confused these little twats to no end.

Dear Fanbrats, Just because someone is gay, doesn't mean they like porn of any kind. Thank you very much.

The yaoi thing gets me as well cause some fangirls can't seem to get it through their heads that some gay people simply don't like it. Shoot, sometimes *I* don't like it, and I'm all for the slash. It's just the stereotypes and implications in some yaoi (I'm only gay for YOU -- or implying that being on the bottom is like being the woman in the relationship -- which manages to insult both gay people AND women).

And yes, those questions directed at your friend WERE creepy and uncalled for!

106. Find an actor in the appropriate age range who every single fan finds "jaw-dropping" attractive, who is willing to take the part, and maybe they'll recast for the next movie. Otherwise, deal with the fact that they chose a very attractive boy who most people seem to find attractive enough for the part, and who was actually cast. Everyone has different tastes, you can't expect the casting people to find someone who will convince every single fan. A character like Edward is impossible to really cast in a movie, because he's a vampire and his magic makes him attractive to everyone - even people who wouldn't have found him attractive in life. Robert Pattinson doesn't have that little loophole on his side, he has to deal with just being human-level handsome.

156. I'm a fan of the series and it's the only fandom I actively participate in, but you'd probably think I 'attack' it. Liking the series doesn't mean you can't see the flaws in it, and it being part of your childhood doesn't mean people aren't justified in their analyses or their dislike or their arguments against it, etc. It's possible to appreciate it, and to appreciate JKR's strengths as a writer while also aspiring not to fall into the same traps she did or to end up with the same weaknesses. I don't think it should be like it all or like none of it. Like all works of fiction there are good points and bad points, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I think it's a mistake to take it personally when people criticize it.

173. The Silver Kiss! That was a good one, I must agree. I didn't like the author's werewolf book, though, Blood and Chocolate. At the time I first read them, I preferred that one, but I think my tastes changed enough over time that I've come to think of The Silver Kiss as far better. Good times.

139. Aside from Gabe Saporta, the whole band is a different lineup from when they did the song for Snakes on a Plane. Personally, I'm really glad they have a career outside of that movie. Three reasons why:
1. They rock

I know how you feel. A lot of white people in fandom treat poc like we're their personal Magical Negroes, here to teach them Very Important Lessons about racism. And the way men (especially gay men) are treated in fandom pisses me off, though my reasons are probably different from yours.

A lot of people seem to think that being willing to discuss racism (or sexism, or homophobia) is proof that they're not bigoted. That's simply not true: if all you "see" when you look at poc is their color, then you're racist -- no matter how much of an 'ally' you are.

Despite all this, I'm glad that people in fandom are willing to discuss racism, sexism and homophobia. People always treated me differently because of my race -- at least now it's because they're listening to me.

131. I actually kinda understand. But to the extent that some of the more popular ships are filled with such batshit insanity that the fandom actually turns me off to the pairing. Sad to say, it's happened more than once (Digimon's Takeru/Hikari fandom, I'm looking at you.). I don't mind popularity. But when the popular fandom is also full of rude nutters? It just turns me off.
