Though, nitpick: why does everyone see him as a Kaworu ripoff? The only thing Joshua and Kaworu share is a love of cryptic statements, UST with the main character, pale coloring, and some psuedo-messianic themes (and Joshua isn't even a good Jesus figure, whereas Kaworu actually is). And this is coming as a fan of both of them. It bugs the crap out of me. D:

I dunno, Anon. Making him a negative character just makes him different. Doesn't make the quality of his creation any worse... He was just created in a different light. Kaworu was supposed to be there for Shinji. Joshua was supposed to be there for Neku, then totally fuck him up. =) It's not a bad thing at all, just different purposes for the same type of character.

112. I always wondered what the gay-male reaction to slash/yaoi fangirling was because, to me, a lot of it is highly offensive (and just plain stupid), and I'm not a gay male.

135. Completely ruined by the fact that Anno Hideaki turns her into a sex object. I liked what they were going for with Asuka, but she was so cliche ("I saw my mom commit suicide, now I have trust issues, baaaww!") and sexualized it was impossible for me to feel for her. Evangelion pussy-footed it with the "awful trauma" in all the characters' pasts. If anyone in that show had had any REAL issues, I would have loved it so much.

You're not alone. That episode was probably the most heartbreaking episode of a comedy I've ever seen. Barney's obvious sadness and loneliness, the flashbacks, and the loving way he gave gifts to his friends...I still get choked up, dammit.

I always try to listen to other people's opinions and be objective about what they say, try to see it from their point of view, and detect the flaw in my own views.

But so far nobody has given me a good reason why not liking a female character in some show makes me sexist, I only every hear that it does, and I'm sorry but that just makes me angry.

I'm sorry you're angry, but I hold to my opinion that the more angry and defensive someone gets over being told something like that, the more likely it is that they just don't want to admit to being sexist. Someone who honestly has examined their reasoning and the sexism that they do buy into (because none of us are free from it) is confident and comfortable in their individual choices.
