Wait, what? One secret and all of the sudden the Castiel fans are complaining about being oppressed? Eh, but I sympathize. I personally hate Genevieve Cortese as Ruby, but don’t like all the hate going on for her fans. I just don’t care enough to hate them. I just think it’s sucky that Supernatural casting-director is incapable of casting any good female actresses besides Nicki Aycox and Samantha Ferris. Their fine when it comes to casting men.

My first OTP was Ray/Egon, at least to my little gay self's recollection, but I'd totally be down with Egon/Janine too. (OT3?)

Mostly I think the first (the one, the only) movie was fantastic and that there needs to be a big retroactive fandom for it.

Also, I totally wrote self-insert-as-Peter fic when I was, like, twelve or something. (We must've had the movie on video by that time. I was only four when it came out so I don't actually know how old I was when I first saw it.)

129: I could not take that scene seriously. I'm actually shocked that anyone who identifies as submissive could, frankly-- because it was very clearly, to me, an attempt to dominate by a non-dominant person.

Chase's relationship with the masochist always struck me much more of a "she liked pain but she was also in charge", because of how Chase couldn't command the patient. Chase didn't strike the sub in that episode as dominant enough to respect/obey-- IMO because he /isn't dominant/. I could imagine his relationship with the masochist also being one where the girl was actively submissive, and he just sort of had to sit back and enjoy the ride, but he's so far from an active dominant that this secret actually made me laugh out loud.

TL;DR: That scene was basically the anti-hot for me. People who aren't Dom but pretending to me is a huge turn off.

Frankly, i saw it quite differently. i've known people who refuse to respond submissively to anyone who isn't /their/ Dom/me, and it seemed to me that Harvey didn't respond that way to anyone but Annette...because she was /his Mistress/, and Chase had no part in their relationship (other than being Harvey's doctor). *shrug*

Maybe it's just me. And i'll admit, i'm still not as knowledgeable about the lifestyle as i'd like to be. But i think Chase is more dominant than he lets on (and he becomes more confident and commanding in later seasons, once he's out from House's shadow... and that just wins).

Last week we had a person with no magic at all compared to a vampire. People want to make connections in their mind, and that's why we get "Keep your X, I'll take my Y" secrets that seem like they really only make sense to the people that posted them.

165. I would say write it. It's your story, you're in ultimate control. However, personally, I prefer endings that are somewhat open-ended. Say they get in a relationship, end the story with them in that relationship. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to do any kind of 'twenty years later they're more in love than ever!!!' that authors seem so hooked on. If you leave it open, you will leave them in a place you like, where they'll end up together, and the readers still have the opportunity to make their own personal ending in fanfic and fanart.

Obviously you have the ultimate say, but the heavy-handedness of authors like JKR and Smeyer, where they say 'there is absolutely no alternative' seems kind of overdoing it for me. Especially when they go so far as to call fans delusional, or to give absolutes for every significant or fan-loved character in the story the way JKR does. It's fine to 'know' the truth, but I think that it's just a little... kinder, I guess, to let the fans think up things for themselves.

The author gives the story, and yes they 'have a right to know what they know' about the characters, the way JKR said. But I don't think they really have the right to get angry at people who disagree or don't like the pairings. Putting it out there for the public to read means you give part of the control to the readers - you can only control what you write, the readers control how they interpret it. Which, unfortunately for very controlling writers, can easily be the complete opposite of what you as a writer envision for the characters. But there's no sense in trying to take that part of the writing - the imagination of the reader - away from the fans, I don't think. It's impossible, first of all... people will still ship what they ship, and it's also unpleasant for the fandom, because fans are annoyed by that kind of antagonism. So I guess what I'm really saying isn't that you shouldn't put them together, but that you should accept that people might ship other things regardless of what canon says.

I find it amusing that this episode was on just last night. Though I just kind of giggled at Chase's attempt at being commanding. Idk, it was uncomfortable -- but maybe that was the point. John Cho throwing temper tantrums was just a bit weird for me.
