144. I sympathize. I'm interested in female characters way more than male, and I'm more likely to think the man may not be good enough for the woman than the other way around. Sometimes I just ship the women with each other, but usually I don't do that with the men.

144. I've found this too. I started out in fandom reading for one OTP and voraciously read every fic. When I got older though, I found I had to get out of it because the most common theme of the fic was blaming her for the fact they weren't together.

Flitting around other ships, I've noticed a lot of the same. I mostly read and write femslash now, because there's a higher chance of getting a sympathetic female POV, without all the blame.

On a better point, being aware of the physical exisitence =/= being *aware* that those cultures exist and that they are very, very real. Most people need more than a high school education to realize that. At the very least, they need some kind of book - and a comic is really no different in that extent.
