Seconded- this comic is a longstanding favorite of mine.

141 - a Top Chef seekrit, on F!S? It was more likely than I thought. o__o

Too bad he was ousted, huh? D:

104: Great... now I'll never unsee it. Thx. *snort* Wait... that's his last name? HOLY CRAP. I didn't even know if he really had one! *lol* Good to know.
Now... who comes to mind when you read about Jason? *lecherous grin*

112: YAY!
Y'know, seeing your secret makes me think, "Hey, I haven't seen Root of All Evil" in a while... I tune in just to see if Patton Oswalt is on. He really is like a cute little troll. ^_^

142: I THINK I LOVE YOU.
Look, I'll dig up my old gumball dispenser that looks like a little blue Servo, and we'll get silly. :)

148: Sweet jesus, you and I should start our own club. Srsly.

164: Well, you're doing better than me! I watch that show and just get a massive headache. I don't get it, and I doubt I ever will. Any chance of a link to an "NGE for Complete Effing Morons"??

144. It's because iCarly really isn't all that funny. Not that Drake and Josh is comedy gold, but only about 1/4 of any iCarly episode is really amusing. And it's only ever Freddie and Spencer who make me laugh. I guess it's just hard for me to invest in a show when the bulk of it isn't that funny (their webshow really fucking sucks and takes up so much time) and the main characters are so unlikeable. I can't stand Carly or Sam.

Long response is long, but this is coming from someone who watches both shows fairly regularly. I just watch iCarly for Spencer and Freddie at this point. The rest of any episode can just be thrown away for all I care.

At least on Drake and Josh, they /all/ make me laugh, not just two of them.

I know you're probably just mocking the people who ship politicians left and right... but you've made me really happy just now.

[identity profile] keeraa.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
135. OH SHIT. You just made me ship it.

112. Lewis Black is amazing.
118. I love that comic. I'm an Enid with no Rebecca.
142. xD

118

[identity profile] shaxophile.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's funny, I wonder how many people feel like that. I'm a Rebecca who used to have an Enid, but she moved really far away so we never drifted naturally. The end makes me so sad sometimes that I wonder if it's better to have a Rebecca or Enid of your own, if this is what happens to us.

/downer comment

It is a really fantastic story, though.

i really think you missed the point. why does every relationship have to be a Relationship? they 'get' each other in a world where both are misunderstood. Frank understands Dwayne's pain and frustration, and is a more sympathetic mentor than his father. it's about an adult relating to a kid because they see themselves in them, wanting to help avoid the misery and mistakes made in their own life- which is a sweet and awesome angle. making it about sex is really cheap.

also, ew. i try to stay open minded, but sometimes i wonder if people who ship incest so avidly have families. seriously.

Re: 135

(Anonymous) 2009-01-31 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
SEX MAKES THEIR RELATIONSHIP CHEAP = you automatically ruined your own argument there. Sorry. Lost it.

Also, yes. Incest shippers have families. We even don't want to fuck them! Shocking, I know.

WAIT WAIT DON'T TELL ME SECRET!!! The story of Peepers the duck foiling a bank heist is still my favorite RL story in the history of history, thank you Adam Felber.

(I sort of want to call them and tell them about Rahmbamarama, but my dad listens to the podcasts as well and he does NOT need to know I'm in fandom, TYVM.)

Re: 162

[identity profile] shaxophile.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my goodness, that would be amazing. You could slip it in, like being a caller for the Listener Limerick Challenge and say you're from Rahmbamarama, Illinois. A few people'd be sure to google it.

I am getting really curious about Supernatural, and want to watch it now. I would think that maybe there's some intern making a variety of different secrets for whatever her employer's trying to sell at the moment - Hetalia, Twilight, in a few weeks it'll be Watchmen Grand Central 'round here - and they're succeeding in getting me wanting to watch Supernatural. But then I considered how many people here likely pay for their media and HA HA HA.

106. I once had someone who wasn't invested in the result tell me I looked like Gillian Anderson, which HA HA HA no I don't. But it really stuck with me and I agree, it's a fantastic shot to the self esteem and I do find myself more interested in GA afterward.

108. I would disagree - once Donna recognizes the situation with the Ood, she does try (and succeed) in changing it. With the line there, she hadn't recognized the sweatshop connection - it's also a great way for the showrunners to convey these ideas to kids who may not know about sweatshops. And there's not going to be an episode where Donna and the Doctor advocate for worker's rights in modern-day southeast Asia. I really do understand and respect your point, I just think that that particular line is less to do with Donna the character and more to do with the message the production team was sending with that episode.

135. I really can't see shipping them, but they were the only two characters who made that movie bearable to me. They both really stood out and I could definitely see wanting to watch them interact more.

145. I wonder about whether I would have joined, too. I think it might almost be impossible for us to know, since we essentially know the end of the story. It's a fascinating question.

146. Me too! I haven't watched s3 yet, but yeah, really not seeing it.

162. WWDTM secret! Yay! There was a This American Life secret the other day, too. We need way more NPR secrets here. Anyway, ever since I stopped getting cable their podcast has been my lulzy American news source. I love it v. v. much, and am even getting my roommates hooked due to playing it while I cook. As for Biden being their new fave target - I'll take it compared to the alternative. =D

168. I'm pretty sure he'd be really proud of that.

No. . . I just used that cap because the scene in general amused me. Fried chicken. :D I go more for Cam or Seddie. Lulz, I guess I ship Sam every main way BUT Spam.

111 - He looks familiar, but in the DCverse, that doesn't mean much. Who is he?

148 - GOOD FOR YOU!

164 - I don't HATE him, but I certainly don't LIKE him. Admittedly, the last time I watched the original version of Evangelion was years ago, but I remember thinking then (when *I* was an emo high schooler) that Shinji was a whiny teenager that couldn't deal. Or at least, he was throughout most of the episodes that I watched, and then towards the end (when my brain stopped comprehending everything), he became this very emo teenager who was suddenly the hero whom I'm supposed to sympathize with/for? Yeah.... I personally don't understand the obsession with sticking Rei and Asuka into different outfits and making believe they're sexy models posing just for YOU~♥ or whatever... it's not in either of their characters at all, and some of the outfits are just plain WEIRD (I'm sorry, but Rei on a Harley? WTF?)

I feel guilty for shipping it, because Shaw certainly didn't.

... also, straight but would totally hit Leslie Howard. SEXIEST MAN EVER.

Meh, I wrote an essay about their relationship dripping with fandom about how Higgins really loved Eliza and just didn't know how to express himself because he'd never really learned to love anyone besides himself and how his attempts for outreach were shot down in sarcasm by Eliza. I was happy I got to write an essay bout an otp :D

Where to find them? Oh, that's easy.

At Comic Con, but in the comic book section and not waiting in line to see Jensen or Jared or Rpatz (not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's your thing; just, generally, would not be theirs). Might go to the panels for BSG or Doctor Who, but that's about as media as it's going to get.

At the Best Buy or Radio Shack, buying things and arguing with the sales staff

At a science centre (for me, the Ontario Science Centre) in the levers and pulleys section; ending conversations with "and as you can see THAT is why the set up on Looney Tunes to suspend the safe that they drop on Sylvester's head, just wouldn't actually work."

Or just toddle on down to the IT department (even if we're fresh out of theoretical physicists) where on any given day we're taking things apart to make them run faster/better/blow up, trying to figure out how to rig a desk drawer to set up a practical joke that would setting up a triggered spring launcher to toss stuff at people as they open it; and yes have conversations on the practicality of what we see in comic books or on TV.

If you are a geek? Other geeks are not to difficult to locate. I know this because I love BBT for the simple fact that IS my group of friends.

The reason for your perception of D&J being "the king" is because the most prolific Livejournal based iCarly fans are crossovers and loved-by-nearly-everyone people from Drake & Josh LJ fandom.

I agree with your secret, anon. It bugs the hell out of me. I used to like D&J, and even still ship D/J, but iCarly ruined D&J for me because it is just So. Much. Better.

Of course, I don't say anything about that in the groovysmoothie, because that really isn't the place. But you're not alone! When I've made non-livejournal icarly friends who come from unrelated fandoms, and I encourage them to come over to LJ and contribute, they've been confused and even intimidated because they don't know the canon and fandom history of an unrelated show! Generally, I tell them not to worry about it.

But I do wonder if the cliquishness from the D&J fandom is going to affect iCarly stuff in the long run. So far it seems accepting, and yet there's a definitely strata apparent, of who came into iCarly fandom when, and if they were involved in D&J, etc...

Sorry, long comment is long.

Re: 144

117 - Agreed! You can love the book and the movie. Yes yes, we know the book is always better than the movie. thats a no brainer but the movie was still very well done.

130 - I love Vocaloid, especially Miku Hatsune. <3

148 - Atleast some people have brains to know that Bella is a fucking moron.
