Uhm, I think you overidentify with a piece of fiction too much. Your guy obviously suffered from some serious form of psychosis to think that he was a vampire and if he surrounded himself with people who supported him in that delusion.

While the Twilight characters are very creepy in their own way, they're fictional and so they can get away with actually being vampires.

So come back with your advice regarding real life Edwards when your ex stalked you, crept into your bedroom at night to watch you sleep before you were actually dating, disable your car to stop you from seeing your friends, tried to kill himself when he thought you were dead, asked you to marry him before you were out of high school and then never slept with you because he didn't want to ruin your virtue.

It's a tall order of weird creepsterness that hypothetical ex has to fulfill.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I don't think OP's ex literally thought he was a vampire. Maybe I just assumed it was a joke he was taking down the wrong path. Could be wrong.

But the secret wasn't about the ex pretending to be a vampire, it was about his acting like Edward. I've never dated one, but I have had to deal with people who constantly talk about how they don't deserve anything and how you'd be better off without them to fish for affirmation and guilt the people around them into putting up with their bullshit. When RL!Edwards pull the "Stay away from me, I'm bad for you" card, that's often what's really going on, not the oh-so-deep concern Bella saw.

Creepiness isn't a pissing contest, anon. A guy doesn't have to steal his girlfriend's truck engine to be an abusive manipulator.

I get the hate for shinji, the first half of the series was like slamming a car door on my head, he was so wimpy to me. but after i'd gone through something similar-ish, i was more able to understand why he acted the way he did. I don't think you're supposed to like him. but some viewers are supposed to sympathize with him.

111: I am 100% with you there. Dick isn't Batman, that's why he became Nightwing. Personally, I think Tim should take up the cowl. His new outfit is about two-thirds of the way there anyway, and he's got the angst for it. He is probably too young, but I think that'd make it even more interesting!
Unfortunately, it doesn't really seem like writers go for 'interesting' so much, so it probably will be Dick. Assuming that the whole thing isn't massively retconned, which would really really suck.

150. Please don't feel guilty for liking CoB, it's an awesome band, probably the best in their genre [I might be a little biased, being a Finn :)]. As to which is a better album, there is no such thing as 'better', it's just a matter of preference, whether you like more refined or rawer sound. I prefer 'Are You Dead Yet?' to 'Something Wild', but I like 'Hate Crew Deathroll' most.

I honestly can't stand Twilight and it is really the only thing in fandom I take so seriously (in b4 hypocrite). My boyfriend of two years is a mix of Leonard and Sheldon to a ridiculous degree. He's wonderful, but dear god, he drives me up the wall.

The super-intelligent often lack a social-interaction and tact component the rest of us seem to possess.

For example, we got into a huge fight over the Season 2 premiere. He was enraged by the fact that Penny got upset with Leonard for giving her college brochures, and no matter how I tried to explain that she didn't want HELP she wanted him to like her as she was, he just kept yelling "BUT THAT'S NOT LOGICAL!"

So, conclusion, nerdy guys are wonderful human beings who are sometimes huge pains in the ass.

Dude, you have no idea how happy I am to see a Pygmalion secret. :D The movie and play need so much love. That said, I do have a rebuttal.

"Pretty enough"? Erm, Eliza isn't supposed to be a fashion model…the whole POINT is that she's a relatively average girl who is able to improve her station in life solely through elocution and culture lessons. (While it no doubt helped, the fact that she had access to grooming products and money for nicer clothes was incidental.) No, Wendy Hiller wasn't Audrey Hepburn, but then again who freakin' was? She was an unknown personally handpicked by Shaw (who, by the way, was extremely unhappy with the romantic angle tacked onto the end of the film version) because she impressed him with her acting.

I'd say that comparisons between the straight film and the film of the musical usually boil down to that Hiller was more convincing as the flower girl, while Hepburn was more convincing as the lady. The fact that the characters in both versions (male AND female) all react to lady!Eliza so strongly isn't that she is supposed to be Beautiful All Along, but that she was SO ill-mannered and filthy that any improvement renders her unrecognizable. Remember, she didn't just learn how to talk better: she learned how to be a lady, including changing her posture, walk, gestures, tone of voice, vocabulary...Higgins and Pickering virtually changed her into an entirely different human being in six months' time, with the result that she's unable to relate to the people in her old life.

(And no, I don't ship it, although I don't care if people do, and totally understand the desire for improved eye candy in films. Heck, I'm one of the few people doing a happy dance over my girlcrush Keira Knightley landing the role in a remake of MFL. Because a) I truly feel that she is an appropriately cast, talented actor who is up to the challenge of performing in a big-budget musical film [I've seen footage of her singing and her voice is better than Hepburn's], and b) she's adorable.)

(Also, obligatory "Leslie Howard, would totally hit that" remark.)
