130. I just discovered Vocaloid a couple weeks ago, and I'm enamored with it. I can't even explain why. It's just incredibly charming. If I'm in a crappy mood, I search for it on YouTube and it just brightens everything up. Wish I could help you figure out why everyone loves them, but I can't even figure out why I do.

158. At what point in the game are you drawing his characterization from? Start-of-game Joshua is very very different from end-of-game Joshua. Either way, you're not him or his twin. I'm sick of the idea that you are any character you relate to. People relate to other people all the time; that doesn't mean they are the same person! Same holds true for fictional characters. There's nothing wrong with relating - hell, I do it all the time - but you need to keep a grip on reality and realize that soulbonding is bullshit. Also, you are you. Define yourself as your own character. That's what you should strive for.

163. I... do that too, kind of. Not with Spanish, but when memorizing speeches or whatever. It's fun. :D

164. The first time I watched the series, I really hated him, just because his personality grated on me. Knowing his whole backstory and the person he ends up being, though, I can watch the earlier stuff and not get too annoyed with him. I'm not sure why he gets so much hate, but I can definitely understand some of it.

Regarding Joshua, I think I actually have to... half agree with you on that? Joshua grew some himself during the Game, probably more than he realizes, but I really don't think he changed very, very much from the start of the game to the end of it. We do learn a whole lot about him by the end that suddenly sheds light on everything, but part of the reason I love his character is that he seems to have been planning for, and hoping for, things to turn out the way they did in the end since the start of the game. Hanekoma manipulated things more than he was planning for, but Joshua definitely was edging Neku towards doing what he did in the end.

OF COURSE I MAY BE WRONG, but that's how it hit me when I first played. It's been a while though. :C I just get the feeling that he was working towards Shibuya surviving from the beginning, while being entirely set and willing to destroy it to keep it from infecting the rest of the UG, on a worst-case scenario -- he's just. A dick. 8|

Because, on paper, Communism sounds really, really nice. And I'm an idealistic sort, and had I lived back then, would have honestly believed it could work. Living now, I've learned enough about it to realize that it probably CAN'T ever work.

107. Hooray, this is the first Dennou Coil secret in ages! I...kind of ship it? I ship Haraken/Yasako more, but I like Isako/Yasako just fine, too. I recommend you look into the Japanese fanart because there's a fair amount of Isako/Yasako fanart out there. Unfortunately Dennou Coil fandom in general is rather small, so I can't recommend much outside of that. :(

Though, as the practical-female-character-who-lives-with-geek-guys myself, I have to offer a note of caution: geek hijinks are great up until the day you come looking for your flashlight, only to find it has been disassembled and rewired into a computer's power supply, wires stripped and hanging out the back, and endcap missing. When you ask why on earth someone would do such a thing, the answer will inevitably be: "I needed to see under the desk and we were out of nine volt batteries, and then I took it apart and I thought hey, how cool would it be just to wire it into the computer, and so I fixed it! :D"

That is when the geeks of the world need the straight men and women of the world to state the sad truth: "congratulations, the power is out, and you've managed to 'fix' our flashlight to only run when we have electricity" ;)

117. Yes, a million times yes. I admit to liking the book a lot more, but taken on its own terms the movie is enjoyable and there's a lot of things to love about it. (Am I the only one who's tried listening to the movie soundtrack while reading the book? It was fantastic.) It's OK to have favorites, but bashing people because of which version they prefer (for any fandom with remakes of any sort!) is just not cool man. Not cool at all.
