I think anyone who actually reads this series has that experience. You're definitely not alone. (Personally, I read it all in a single day, too, and was absolutely captivated by the emotional depth of it. ...When I went into it looking for things to hate about it.)

I had an Edward once. I thought him and all him his friends we the bee's knees. Then when he dumped me because I wouldn't put out, I saw all his flaws. His (and mine, because of our relationship) friend said she'd laugh when my new, decade-older-than-me boyfriend raped me. I saw what they were doing to me, and I felt damaged; I still do. I'm glad I got out of that before I was even more consumed. Not all Vampires are shiny and wonderful. Beware...

OP could be me. Never in my life have I ever seen anyone like John Green. I've sort of always been made to feel like I should feel bad about being a Christian by the people I share social and political views with, but always made to feel like I should feel bad for having the social and political views I have by my family and other Christians. I could not love John more. He's the most amazing man in the world. <3
