I get Sue/Stu fans being at the bottom of the evolutionary scale, as well as only shipping slash or het, but what makes gen so much more superior than fanstuff with pairings?

Watch/read the The Twelve Kingdoms if you hate that stereotype. Everyone who gets kidnapped and needs to be rescued in that series is male and they're mostly rescued by females. (Except one.) Granted, they're girlie looking males, but... yes.

Fairly big Brazil nerd here. You're right. I read that too. Gilliam got creeped out by the dolls, never forgot them and so decades later decided to scare the hell out of everyone with them.
