137. I'm going to go ahead and agree with you on the second part. It's not that I don't think that people can be "completely" gay or straight. I just think that it is a bit ridiculous that you can know without a shadow of doubt that out of billions of people with all different shapes, sizes, colors, personalities, dress styles, ideologies, professions, and degrees of awesomeness that you can never be attracted to any of them.

BTW OP gender i= sex

Taking an interest in someone of the wrong sex or gender doesn't mean you're suddenly not gay or straight, nor does it mean that given the chance you would choose to have a relationship with that person. God! It's like men who have to ask female friends if some man is attractive or not because his straightness means he can't tell hot from fug if it's got a penis.

Re: 137

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
This. I used to be sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was 100% straight-- never interested in girls at all. And then, well, I met a girl that I think I might be interested in, but IN GENERAL I'm still not attracted to girls. That's why I think it's ridiculous to say that it could never, ever happen.

[identity profile] 1strangepirate.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
108. Fact: I read Watchmen for the first time last year. I loved it and usually get into the fandoms of stuff I love, but from all the crap I've heard, I don't think it'd be worth the trouble in this case.

Elitism is one of my biggest pet peeves :/

125, 165

[identity profile] sosaith.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
125. The whole point is that if the actor is good, you won't be able to tell if they are faking at all. Really bad fake accents happen both ways along with really good ones, and if your issue is more than that, it probably has more to do with cultural prejudice than the portrayal itself.

165. I only do that when a story is an absolute favorite of mine. I like to read them over in word docs, correcting spelling and grammar as I go.

125, 151, 157, 158, 166

[identity profile] internal666.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
125. I'm really surprised you didn't use Juliet Landau instead of James Masters, I think her fake accent is a closer equivalent to Hugh Laurie's fake accent.

151. *Hasn't played Fable 2 yet* Is that a platinum blonde zombie!Lady Grey I see?

157. ...Why is there a leather daddy on Supernatural?

158: I think I'm somewhere in between the people who ship a little bit of everything, and the people who prefer genfic.

166: You have no idea how badly I want you to be a troll. But just in case you were actually serious, I will give you some advice. Get out of whatever Slash community you're in, because I guarantee you that if someone in their ever found out about these views of yours, you would not be welcome there any more. Just the thought that you or someone like you might be in one of my comms makes me feel ill.

OP of 151

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. He's a graveyard groundskeeper who is terrified of people but falls in love with her picture and wants her brought back to life. And you have to find her scattered body parts all over albion. And his name is Victor...and he uses electricity to revive her. FRANKENSTEIN yes but oh god, is he adorable.

"I don't go out much. Might...meet people that way."

Just...just trust me on this.

[identity profile] 1strangepirate.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
105. It's an amazing show

regardless of your goofy friends, you should get into it as soon as you can, anon

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Did I imply my friends are goofy, ha ha?

131

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
The point of a kink meme is the anonymity. I'm kind of surprised you think otherwise. If you want to be recognized, no one's stopping you from outing yourself on another part of the internet. I've seen many kink memers do it; hell, even I've done it on several occasions.

No one expects epic fics. Hell, 80% of the time, I'd rather read a short commentbox than a fill that's like 324 parts long (not that I'm bashing some of those epic fills, but honestly, I don't have the time to sit and read for more than like, an hour at a time).

And you do realize you can always offer exchanges for people, right? "Hey, I'll fill this if someone fills mine from blahblahblah..." Some prompts are more popular than others, get over it. For every 8 or 9 fills I do, I make 1 request and more often than not, they go unanswered. Oh well - too bad, so sad.

Anyhow, glad you're having fun at the P4 meme. Maybe hopefully someday you'll change your mind and come back. If you don't, that's fine too.

131 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hurr, I guess "recognition" wasn't the right word to use. I just meant more criticism and/or comments for the stuff that I did there. /word choice failure.

I've kind of given up on the meme totally, actually, there's so much stuff there that I really can't even hope to keep up with everything. The last thing I read was like, part of that epic "Break the Sky" fic, and I was like, "...yep, I'm done here." I guess big, gigantic fics have scared me away forever.

And also, my requests are really old. I don't think that if I offered an exchange that it would get filled. I've done some exchange fics before, but they weren't anon. /shrug. I dunno, man.

Well, P4's been pretty fun. I think I'll be there for a while.

[identity profile] xenafox.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
118. I think you're completely right, but then isn't it that way for everything?

120. This one I actually disagree with completely, but I'm not comfortable going into details why.

137. From my boyfriend's mouth: Sure, we'll wrestle to be manly, but I think men are DISGUSTING. Penis? Ew ew ew.
Wrap your mind around it, and do it soon because that's probably going to SOMEHOW screw you over.

138. I get a little buggered the way it is glorified as well. I remembet telling one fangirl of a neighbor I had who was an absolute jerk to..just about everyone! Once I let it slip he was gay she decided he was probably a nice wonderful person and really just needed a "good dicking".

166. I don't know...I get what you're saying, fantasy slash and homosexuality in real life are two different things. But I do think it's a little strange to like slash but not support gay marriage. Even if it's because you believe marriage should be traditional and nothing gay hate related, I still find it odd. Maybe these friends are just trying to express their feelings..I dunno.

With regards to your comment about 166:

Even though I don't find it odd or anything (because I do the same thing as whoever posted 166), I just wanted to say THANK YOU for expressing an opinion that wasn't 100% in agreement without being a rude, immature, idiotic excuse for a human being.

133. Why that movie in particular?

And man aaaaawww Bones is so cute in that picture. Thanks for using that one :]

133 op

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Off the top of my head, I can't think of when they really got to have good interaction on the show or the previous movies. But seeing them on a mission together and concocting a plan together...I don't know, it just made me think about it!

108, 125, 138, 166

[identity profile] arcadiaego.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
108: It's nothing to do with common sense, and everything to do with territory and the apparent human need to have somehing for yourself. It's also getting really old, in this case. The number of people I've seen bitching about newbies who are actually old enough to have read the comic when it originally came out so far numbers zero.

125: I think it's because so many Americans have done it so badly, and usually whilst playing a character that is either evil or a repressed homosexual that when a Brit plays an American it's evening things out? Plus when a Brit plays an American, we Brits don't notice what they're doing wrong, whereas when the roles are reversed we notice all the mistakes the actor is making!

138: Fangirls are to blame for your best friend being a twat? Ok then.

166: Well, it's nice for you that you don't like slash because it's about gay relationships, but it still *is* about gay relationships.

132: An array is an arrangement of a series of terms in some geometric pattern. So the term, whether fandom spawned or canon, is pretty accurate.

158: I think this holds at least some truth, if only because of my own experience.

159

[identity profile] metrocard.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I think they're absurdly annoying. I don't mind Dan; he's funny from time to time, but Jessie...

158

(Anonymous) 2009-02-01 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Totally agreed. In fact, I won't even friend people who don't ship a little of both because I've had too many bad experiences with crazy slash fangirls who think that anything with a vagina is icky and the whole "slash/femmeslash is disgusting and ALWAYS OOC" crowd. If you can't ship something for the personalities and not the genitalia involved, then I'm not interested in being friends with you. Sorry.

I know this certainly doesn't hold true of everyone who ships only slash/femmeslash or only het, but shipping only one or the other is usually one of the first warning signs. Diversity is awesome, guys.

Oh my god, YES. I fucking LOVED that book.

I found all the others incredibly boring, really, but Many Waters is probably the one book I've read more than any other...

132.

Out of random curiosity after seeing this I decided to look it up, and "Array" on Google came back as the following entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Array

"In computer science, an array[1] is a data structure consisting of a group of elements that are accessed by indexing. In most programming languages each element has the same data type and the array occupies a contiguous area of storage."

And Webster's online brought up "to set or place in order" as one of the definitions.

So best guess? In alchemy it would mean a grouping of elements in a certain order, since that's what each of the symbols in arrays are - elemental symbols corresponding to earth, air, water, or fire and any variation there of.

Sorry, not trying to be a smart ass. ^_^; It really did make me wonder what the word meant! I'm a sucker for random factoids that I can throw at people in later conversations. Though... how I'll ever use THAT in a conversation... well, I guess I'll just have to see.

162.
I never hated her. I don't know if I fully got what she was intending to do (if she really did want to hurt Juri or was simply unsure of how to work out her own feelings), but I never could bring myself to hate her. The only character I disliked was probably Nanami, and even her I didn't hate.

Re: 132

I think it's actually the correct terminology.

105: I'M SORT OF WORRIED THIS IS ABOUT ME, HAHAHA.

133: D'awww. I have to see that movie again. It's been over two years ;^;

137: Haha, I feel the same way. 8( I don't get how people can be either %100 gay or %100 straight.

158: I DON'T GET WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT SHIPPING? ;[ Since when is liking romance make someone immature? If I wanted "gen" stuff, I'd just watch/read the source material.

163: I miss Jo :[

164: I didn't, but I do now. She's so fucking strong, and level-headed and downright BRAVE. I want to go back in time and slap my little 13 year old self and tell her she could learn something from Relena xD;

165: I want to do this. Like, find fics I sort-of enjoy, and then fix the parts I don't, and re-save them to read later. 8\ Such a douchey thing to do, haha.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE A SECRET. :( I LIKE HER TOO AND I'D SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS IF I WASN'T SO AFRAID OF HIGHTS.

/capslock.

As is, I just talk and write fic about her more than anything else in fandom. :D

166

[identity profile] graciebird.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with jaclynhyde. Why the fuck would you oppose gay marriage?

Re: 166

[identity profile] hector-rashbaum.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, see, if you go by stereotypes, married people have less sex. So if gay people are getting married, they're having less sex, and that means less opportunities for voyeuristic fetishization. So it's totes logical.

Or something.

I'd recommend Kekkaishi, where even when she was to be "rescued" she still escaped on her own, and Sket Dance, where the girl character is the brawn of the team and can seriously kick ass. With a hockey stick.

And I think it's unfair that you have Riza in there - at least manga-wise, she can more than stand her ground.
